Constant talking with 0 viewers is way to difficult for me. I can't never work on that but i can talk with viewers if they say hi or something, i can start talking and questions or other things. All the other tips, i have no problems with that.
If you're going into streaming, especially on Twitch, do it for the right reasons. Don't do it because you have rent to pay or you want to "climb the ladder." Do it because you've got a voice and you've got a reason, a purpose for going into streaming. I have two: 1, I want my sense of humor, my voice, and my love of using cartoony sound effects to be a welcome change and a safe haven for people who are going through a hard time or having a rough day, and just need somewhere nice and lively and positive to go to take their mind off things. 2, I'm using Twitch as a foundation for my greater creative endeavors, such as writing cartoons, which is something I will be doing in the future. Having a purpose or a reason to go into streaming that involves something greater than yourself will keep you going through the tough times and will make the entire journey worthwhile in the long run. You'll also feel more real to people and they'll see that it's not about you. At most, it's an idea or cause that you have decided to broadcast through your stream. And just remember, streaming is not for everyone. :)
Did you mention to make the schedule you come up with available with every source or tool you have available as a streamer. For example using Panels right, publishing it on the personal social media or discod you got? Might have not heard that. Otherwise great video as always :)
N in32 it’s also all about networking man. The grind is real but networking is key. Joining communities and making everlasting friendships. That’s how you succeed.
I’ll be honest. I have to disagree with you friend. Yes there there are tons of streamers out there but streaming is about so much more. There are 8 billion people on this planet with the generation of people who watch twitch/streaming as a form of entertainment. Showing how you can be unique is how you can maintain your viewers. No angle needed. Just the right mindset and good entertainment that people can relate to.
You can pick literally any game with a few hundred to two or three thousand viewers total, and around a 10 average viewership would put you in the top three rows of the directory. It's there where you will start to see your growth snowball, as I did when I started. I went from zero in June 2018, to partnered in April, to 130 average over June and July. It can be done. Yes, many games are saturated, but there are plenty that aren't. The best thing you can do is be willing to do anything and be strategic with your growth plan. As long as you create great content, the rest will take care of itself. The problem I have with the "Twitch is too saturated" angle is this comes from people that want to grow playing games like Fortnite, for example.
@@hyperion2189 there are tons of streamers who came up very fast, a new game comes out, they commit to and the channel suddenly explodes. but: this usually only happens to streamers who are good at the game. nobody wants to see someone who plays worse than himself unless this person is extremely funny like dr.disrespect f.e.
something that really helped me be able to talk during my streams is starting out recording youtube videos. Ive transitioned into streaming bc that what I like more at the moment but ive gone to streams where people will say something once every min and its very uninteresting. Also, youtube is a much better platform for small streamers than twitch because you actually get recommended to people who watch content like yours, whereas twitch, people have to actually go looking and its only a coincidence that they find you. I use restream and stream to both at the same time so im not missing out on either ends, but a lot of the time ill have 0-1 people join on twitch and maybe 20 people cycle through on youtube. Also streaming a very popular game on youtube isn't as detrimental as it is on twitch.
Just found your channel...from the mic setups to stream advice, you are defiantly underrated. I'm sure I speak for more than myself when I say that you are greatly appreciated in this community!
I literally started streaming this week and I’ve found this video far more helpful than other advice channels. I’m going to put a lot of it into use. I can’t do the webcam one right now but I’ll get to that eventually, everything else is very reasonable to tackle.
This is actually the first useful "advice for beginner" video that i watch. Because you don't just give random advice like "get a good mic and a green screen" but you point at flaws, people don't like that but it's a necessary step, and it's the adult way to progress. I like the fact that you don't talk like a community manager with 2.0 manager bullshit vocabulary, it's simple, good common sense, just perfect. Thank you very much.
I've only been streaming on Twitch for a week the most viewers I had was 7 but average around 3. I started off with 9 follows. I've got to be there abouts with regards to how I want my stream to look and still taking steps on how to improve it technically. I come under the 'Music and Performance' category as a Dj and is heavily saturated by professionals. I'm only part time and only have the basics in terms of hardware but at the moment it's the best it can be (For now). Anyhow, this insight is very informative and I thank you for sharing. Liked and subscribed!
Fantastic tips, Sir. I can totally relate to the technical issues advice. I was streaming the other night but didn't realise there was a fault with my upload speed (a real killer for the stream). Anyway, another streamer hosted me, with over 460 viewers. I didn't realise my stream was on a 15 minute delay due to poor network my end. It turned off over half of the viewers as they thought I was ignoring them. So important to fix stuff like that ASAP.
I’ve just started and thanks to your videos I’ve already developed a community! They are people I’ve developed bonds with on other streamers’ channels. We are supportive of each other and help each other to grow!
I think something that helped me grow my Twitch was having a lof or presence on other social media. It kind of ties in with networking, but I try to get to know a lot of streamers on Twitter and Discord. I feel like it helps because you get to talk about anything since it's off-stream.
Good video man. One thing you forgot, is that this is at the end of the day, a giant popularity contest. You can do everything right, and still get no growth. Its like being in high school, the popular kids get all the friends, the less popular have only like 5 friends. This is the online equivalent to this, and I'll be honest, 1 year of streaming and content creating, all while running a real business in the world (an automotive garage), I got some growth. But I also scouted other streamers, and I'll tell you, they got thousands of viewers, but they're incredibly boring. I couldn't even sit for 5 minutes because I was so bored. Sometimes I see people eating and they got 5K in their viewership. Of course I see the boobies, those streamers have an insanely high viewer count, its obvious why that is. Once I saw a guy putting on makeup, with near 8 thousand viewers. How are any of these people getting over a thousand viewers? Seems like you gotta appeal to a certain type out there, and its like playing the popularity game in high school. This is what I've learned on my 1 year journey of live streaming and content creating. I guess I'll see what I learn in year 2.
Thank you for doing a recap of your tips. It seems like a lot of UA-cam tips videos run through information without providing a summary/review at the end. Very appreciated!

Consistency is my main issue, having a toddler to care for and a baby on the way makes keeping to a schedule extremely difficult because every day/night is different. Like, I can't guarantee I'll be able to stream at the time my schedule says because that specific night my toddler might have trouble sleeping or other needs. So I've basically come to terms with the fact my stream might never really grow. I stream when I can because it's fun and once my kids are older and more independent I'll try to reach for the growth I want.
I hit affiliate in 3 days but to be completely honest I may have got lucky but just a little tip guys is that If you aren’t fully about it or fully ready to try and make it it won’t work. I think if you go make a Instagram, UA-cam , twitch etc. and start actually caring the rest comes easy cause it shows your vested in the stream when you have links to our social and all the stuff you’ve done to contribute to your stream people see that as someone who has there stuff together
I feel it just makes your self more presentable and it makes you care more due to the time you’ve put in to it . Also another tip is offer to play with viewers just say I’m a streamer looking for group or something of that nature and if they’re having fun 9 times outa ten they’ll say what was your stream and there you have it a follower and a friend is gained. Take it one by one and set goals that are achievable so that when you hit them your morale is boosted

The technical issues is the worse part for me, I have to find games that don't push a lot on the PC and stream them, which I have a lot of fun playing, but I still need to buy some more equipment to stream properly! Thanks for the video tho, keep it up!!!
Really useful video! I've only just started on Twitch last night was really my first proper stream and had a guy in my chat for like 2 hours good chats average gameplay! 4 viewers was my peak. For the first proper stream I was happy about that!
Anyone that trying to make it on twitch or youtube I wish you the best it isnt easy starting from nothing but when it works out it will be well worth it keep grinding!
Very awesome! I am new to Twitch and I am a musician. So I can see how I have to apply many of the gaming techniques to what we are doing. We got to Affiliate in less than 3 weeks, but now I can see that we have a road ahead that is more daunting and we must pay attention. You are awesome and even though it was from several years ago, it makes perfect sense. thank you.
Alot of people mention the first point, don't play saturated games, but forget to mention that the exact opposite isn't good either, don't play games with no viewership. You have you find a game that has at least a few consistent viewers.
I am gearing up to start streaming on Twitch and making UA-cam videos. Im going all in and learning as I go, pretty much starting from zero on both platforms. Your content is very informative and has given me a lot of motivation to learn and hone my craft, to grow and become better on my journey. Thank you so much for what you do, and Ill be watching for more great content in the future! /tips hat
Hope your journey is going well. A top I have 4 you is be yourself. Because alot of folks that watch content creators dont want an actor or a character portrayal. But a genuine person.
Ty so much for these tips and the website for test streaming ! I was so concerned how I was going to a test stream without going live and having to delete that stream later.
these tips are very helpful, especially tip no1 with the saturated games. i mostly stream battlefield 1 where there is a average of 150 viewers and i can get up to 15 viewers and top 3 streamer in bf1, when i go to another game i barely get 1 view. i got my 7 followers all by playing bf1. my mic tho is shit and most people leave after 2 5 mins so tomorrow im getting a new mic to improve my stream quality and hopefully retain more viewers. these tips are real good and i appreciate the work put in this video!
@@JamesTheElite in on a super budget atm so i got a headset with a mic. İts acually very good for £23 the beexelent gm-2 headset to be more specific. İll looking at the snowball in the future tho.
Its crazy because ive been streaming for 18 days now. And i grew to 35 followers my first stream. I got affiliate Yesterday after 18 days and im currently standing at 72 followers. I love twitch and cant wait to continue
Number 5. Webcams do help. I have a piano set up next to me cause it's one of my hobbies to play. And i had someone stick around and wanted to show up next time cause they enjoyed hearing me play.
My biggest issue is 3. I usually switch between games on Sunday or a bonus stream on the weekdays and the volume levels can vary so much. I have to make a habit of checking settings before starting the game, but man it can ruin pacing if you don't catch it beforehand.
My problem is a schedule Problem but even with this people will not join, Twitch is oversaturated in general. But in a twitch Watcher who love People, NOT constantly, blabbering on the stream I prefer a more relaxed conversation instead of talking nonsense to nobody.I think its way more important to keep the chat going ,when you have a active Chat the topics grow from the Audience
I know this is a year old, but I don't think that "not using a webcam" will hinder your growth (that part is where I disagree with the video). You can still have the possibility of growing, even without a webcam, just be active in talking and being expressive. If you don't have viewers, be open to yourself on talking alone, like stating what you're doing, thinking, planning, and other stuff that goes in your mind while playing something-it's like doing a long winded presentation. Then maybe once there's someone there watching/lurking, they might actually chat with you and stay or even follow to watch your future streams.
You're guides are great. Ive been streaming for 2 weeks now and you've been a great help. This one was an eyeopener as well. Im streaming a game with a ratio of +/- 10 with an avarage of 5 viewers, and I was wondering why it wasnt more. My game has 500 up to 10k viewers at any given point in day. I might switch games after a while because I see other fun games having ratios in their 50s.
1 thing I wanted to ask is that what if we do everything you just told us to do except playing saturated games. what will be it's outcome. because I fps games like and i am really passionate about call of duty. I searched a lot but i wasn't able to find an fps game that was good for streaming according to your data. and please reply to this, I have been waiting 2 years for this and now that i finally have all the equipment I don't wanna waste any time.
I've hit a spike and then a Plato then a spike. I couldn't find out why then I realised games with timed events in which you can provide extra help or a Sherpa you will get spikes 100+followers per weekend for trials in destiny 2
Hello Sir thank you for these videos they are much appreciated there chalked full of good advice there simple easy to follow. And you have a very calm demeanor that makes it very easy to watch these videos but again Thank you and keep up the good work Cheers mate

Anyone that trying to make it on twitch or youtube I wish you the best it isnt easy starting from nothing but when it works out it will be well worth it keep grinding!
Awesome video! I watched the entire thing, liked shared and commented! Keep at it bro!
Thanks for the video! Great info!
I'm speechless Pete, really love to watch your videos. The way you explain everything is easy to understand and really inspiring. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much for this! Very inciteful
I’m not struggling to grow but I still watch these to see what I might not have thought of
Ty so much for these tips and the website for test streaming !
Jamesze which mic did you get?
@@JamesTheElite in on a super budget atm so i got a headset with a mic. İts acually very good for £23 the beexelent gm-2 headset to be more specific. İll looking at the snowball in the future tho.
Jamesze I got the blue yeti
Its crazy because ive been streaming for 18 days now. And i grew to 35 followers my first stream. I got affiliate Yesterday after 18 days and im currently standing at 72 followers. I love twitch and cant wait to continue
How dafook u managed that? Please give me some tips lol
Must be nice
Really good tips man!
100% agree that you're fighting an uphill battle if you choose to stream an over saturated game (League of Legends!!! RoaR)
this is such a helpful video even in 2020. im an aspiring streamer thats been working hard and your vids help a ton. thank you so much :)
great video and great tips :)
Dude, this video is a game changer for me!! Thank you for the advice, still relevant today!
Thanks for all your videos bro!! I just got affiliate two days ago idk what I would have done without your tips!!!
What a great video! Thanks for the help! You’ve earned a like and sub!
Great Video !
I agree with you..I am not entertainment guy that will talk non-stop I prefer to answer to my chat but hey...I don't have any viewer to start chatting
Eveytime I come here I learn something new, I’m a proud supporter for your patreon and love everything you do!!!!
Bless you for trying to help people like us
You are awesome dude, thanks for all your videos and keep up the great work
mate you are a very very sympathetic guy,
thank you for this great vid!
Remember the dude from "Good Boys" that buys the "CPR" doll......
Erm question does webcam affecf a lot. I have insecurity issues and just dont like people looking at me. What should it do?
Do you think that sending clips from you're stream to "best of" channels can be a good thing to grow up on twitch? Nice video TY !
LOVING THE CONTENT PETE!
Love ya mate
What do you think is better for streaming, Twitch or UA-cam?
Mixer

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?
DO YOU GUYS NOT HAVE FUN?
This is gonna help me a lot I really do appreciate it I dropped a sub 😄
1 thing I wanted to ask is that what if we do everything you just told us to do except playing saturated games. what will be it's outcome. because I fps games like and i am really passionate about call of duty. I searched a lot but i wasn't able to find an fps game that was good for streaming according to your data.
and please reply to this, I have been waiting 2 years for this and now that i finally have all the equipment I don't wanna waste any time.
what if i find a game that no one is streaming but is still a great game? could i still grow
I've hit a spike and then a Plato then a spike. I couldn't find out why then I realised games with timed events in which you can provide extra help or a Sherpa you will get spikes 100+followers per weekend for trials in destiny 2
what is your background soundtrack . like your vids
Thank you appreciate your insight
Every vedio im looking for im found it in your channel idk why but you are my boy 👍❤
Can I also stream multiple games that I like?
For example: Valorant, Apex and THE FINALS?
Or only one game?
