Putting heat on in a car? That is something I have not done in many years. I wonder if cars in The Philippines have heaters. We use our air conditioner almost every day of the year in Texas and every day in The Philippines. I would be afraid of water freezing in your out door kitchen. I would leave the hanging pots alone. Gina's chair seems to be well occupied. I missed a lot of good times with my goats, I never fed them my apple levels. The cake looks delicious. The Lumnah's remain a hard working and blessed family. Those animals of yours are the luckiest alive because you show and treat them with so much love and it shows on the animals. How can you not love the goats. Greetings from Nymagee, outback Australia from Barry and my 15 Nubian goats. Cheers mate
You can get a really cheap "shop vac" at lowes for about 35 bucks. It's just the vac top and hose, etc. You attach it to the top of any 5 gallon bucket. Put one of those in the goat barn, to pick up the poop on their bed. Then you can dump that in the compost pile, instead of having it build up in the barn that much faster. The hose may develop a permanent kink in it where it comes across that wheel. Also, when you drain it, don't forget to drain the inside as well.
That is such nice clean goat manure up on their bed that you can use right away... You should brush it into a catch pan and add it right into your garden raised beds.
Are you ever going to install some frost free hydrants around your property? They make it easy to put water access out where frozen ground makes it difficult. Installing them would be a good project for your channel. Installing the gravel pit beneath them and explaining how they are self-draining is a classic homestead concept. The pigs are so trained by the electric fence that you could turn it off and they would not likely stray.
Okay Al , I have a thought . How about attaching a clamp around the hose ( not compressing the hose , merely grasping the hose ) and attaching something like a screen door spring to the clamp and the other end of the spring to the ceiling. That way , the hose could hang down but still be out of the way. When you need to use the sprayer , just pull it down. When finished with the sprayer , the spring will retract the hose up and out of the way. What do you think ? Any spring would work but a screen door spring would not be hard to pull on and will stretch out quite a ways.
Have you tried the quick connections that go on water hoses. Connects like an air hose and will make the connecting/unconnecting of the water hose a breeze!!
Hi Al, I suggest a battery vacuum to clean the goats' sleeping spot, I would have tied the nozzle to the ceiling with a spring, so it can be pulled down, like some lamps with variable height have it, instead of the counterweight you did. And I also hope, that Andy has found his final place to stay, as the ones before were not perfect for his living and did not really fit him
you could get a bucket and collect the goat pellets for the compost.. betcha that bear might of been looking for food with that fence i remember it from when they were doing the logging in the videos
I use 3/4" EMT mounted with conduit clips (the good ones with a bolt, not a sheet metal screw) to make hanging rails in my shop. I usually custom-bend the hooks for whatever weird thing I'm hanging so it hangs the way I want it, but I also have a bunch that are long S-hooks.
Andy boy is in with the pigs! Good for him. Seems like a rather mild tempered fellow. I agree about those recipes, would love the apple cake and banana bread :)
Love your channel. I would of expected to not love your morning feeding routine but I do! You have a very relaxed kind way with your family and your animals. Any chance of sharing the apple cake recipe?!!
Maybe a deer was going through the two fence wires and was shocked causing it to jump and thus shooting the insulator up into the air and landing where you found it. Also another item that might help your battery last longer on your pig fence is to get it off of the ground. As a battery sits on the cold ground energy is pulled from it by way of cooling the battery more than what it would be just in the air around it. If you haven't by now you could also put a solar charging system attached to it like a solar panel that you could clip to it but you would have to regulate the charging of the battery with a regulator as well.
I noticed the large hole on the inside of the pig run almost in front of the fence post. Could they have been rooting with there nose and caught the bottom wire with insulator and sent it for a ride, "grass is always greener on the other side" lol. Maybe they got a little zap and stayed inside the pasture. Did you walk around the entire thing to see if it was something else who got inside made a exit.
I know this is 2 years old, and I'm hoping you will get notified of a comment on this post. I'm interested in gathering information on your electric fence set up. Like the name of the company, the amount of zap power, if it's a 12 volt system, if you like the system, what you like about it, and where did you purchase it? I've tried to look for Premier on line, and see different locations in Oklahoma. I doubt you ordered it from OK though. any help would be great. We have raccoons coming into our yard and leaving their droppings. We have a wood privacy fence that I'd like to run the wire at the top of the fence. Any ideas on how to stop them would be great also. Thank you, I really like watching your projects. Hope the 500 acres won't be to over the top. Later, and again, thank you.
Hey, I looked up those catipillars and they said their called white hickory tussock catipillars. Experts say not to handle them because they let off a substance from their black bristles that can cause an allergic reaction, itching or a rash. Their a native of Canada. They live off of several trees but apple trees are one of them. They also showed another white catipillar that's poisonous that's showing up in Pa. I believe the one you showed though is the one I found. Be careful with them. Especially with Olivia. Tell her not to be picking them up without gloves. Not sure how they are as far as the chickens. Another woman living out in the country said they showed up on her place as well but didn't say exactly where she lived though. Hope this help's.
U must keep gap between those woods and down u have to put a plastic sheet so those goat stuff fall down in the sheet and u just take out those sheets and clean it
Al, on your outdoor sink you need to put at the top some kind of rubber stopper so that the hose don’t go all the way up and you can’t reach it..... just a suggestion.
Skunks eat small rodents. They are just like wild cats. I've known people who put a bowl of milk on their porch so a wild skunk will stop by each day. They are very social and become tame enough that they don't spray unless a dog or cat bothers them. You could be friends of skunks.
Hi Al, I googled your cattipilliar. You have a White Hickory Tussock Cattipilliar. They loved to hang out by all nuts trees and also love Oak Trees. The black spikes on them can poke you and cause a simple rash but not deadly. If eaten can make you super sick though DON'T EAT OF COURSE! There all over this year spotted all over. 😁
@@LumnahAcres right on. I was curious because I know someone makes an inline hot water heater however I'm not sure on how well it works being exposed to outdoor seasonal temps. I think saving the goat manure for the garden is a good idea too.
I love how Gina goes out and sits with the goats. I can see the appeal- entertaining and relaxing.
I hope you put the goat pellets in your compost pile!!!
I was thinking instead of raking them off into the straw he should collect and compost them separately. They should be pure gold for the garden.
That's where they end up
Can you please share the recipe to your apple cake? Looks so YUMMY!!

I would buy a gate spring for the hose. they are cheap. Use a hose clamp (airplane clamp).

Is there a reason why you don't sweep the goat poop in a bucket and put in your garden beds.
Still waiting to see Moose being the first one out. Wow that insulator really went flying...good job finding it! Have a great day
What free item did you get with your casters at ye old harbor freight?
Motion detector game camera would be cool
You should scoop the goat poop into a pale and then throw it out in the pasture. At least you wont have to pick it up off the ground afterwards!
You should get a trail cam. It would be interesting to see what lurks in the darkness at your place :)

What is it with goats jumping on things that are elevated?
Moose! Moose is the Man!
Maybe it was a deer who didn't see the wire in the dark???
Al, on your outdoor sink you need to put at the top some kind of rubber stopper so that the hose don’t go all the way up and you can’t reach it..... just a suggestion.
It's on The Wire
Some of those white caterpillars will excrete a liquid that will blister on you that hurts like hell.
