Even with a hydrophobic spray it is not electrically insulating. So unless it moved away real quick or just didn't touch it at all it could still cause damage. BUT P2i did tell me that they are working on a formula that would be electrically insulating. Who knows if we would ever see that. You probably have talked to them already though.
you are someone with great knowledge and sharing it with the whole world . this is the only channel i look forward to ! hopefully will see more in the future. You're awesome !
+JerryRigEverything Hi. I have a question... Will you ever do a teardown on tablets, the MEIZU pro 7, or even pieces of tecnology as the Xiaomi MI band 2, or even a fitbit? Just asking... i know you buy everithing by your own, but it would be interesting to see something different on this channel. Hope you reply.
The rubber seals at headphone jack and other opening is such a small thing to do, why don't all phones come with this basic rubber seal? Sweat, rain drops or drop in a small ditch during rains is quite common. Is this really that expensive to do? Zack, can you tell how other phones manage the sweat not transferring to your earpiece?
There are ways to make things water proof but they are slow and time costing and time = money! An Aluminium, Tin or Gold coating on things like headphone jacks and power ports allows for powerflow but stops water damage especially if you put a good quality rubber seal with a great waterproof adhesive inside the device to keep the water out and with modern power control chips the water would not drain the battery unless it gets in the case! This all costs money and every extra cent they can keep and/or make While still being to tempt us to buy them over the other guy. What I am saying they will not spend more than they have too to keep the edge!
Changes a lot based on country and company you buy it from! In Australia if you buy it off JB HiFi or Kogan the 64gig is $1,349AU roughly, Only 100 more than the Galaxy 7 EDGE!
+Darth Awar I do not see any correlation between AU and H2 OH. As a joke, it fell completely flat. Your comment was neither witty, nor funny. Next time you think of a joke, do us all a favor a and keep it to yourself.
+Darth Awar I do not see any correlation between AU and H2 OH. As a joke, it fell completely flat. Your comment was neither witty, nor funny. Next time you think of a joke, do us all a favor a and keep it to yourself.
+twistdshade just because you fail to get the complex joke is reason to keep it to myself, You my good friend are a fail deal with it like a real man and just admit the truth!
If water rolls away on internals coated with a hydrophobic spray, then where does it roll away to, if everything is sealed up? You would just have to wait until it evaporates? Would it still be a danger to the circuits, if it's just rolling around until it's gone?
Hydrophobic in such design as any mobile phone is really hard. You need to avoid all connectors as it will case open circuits (same if you wan to use lacquer)... I'm glad that manufacturers started with this and there is no way back so it will be only better...
Your voice is so emotionless and monotone. It makes these videos genuinely interesting despite me not actually having an interest in phone internals... Also the way you manage to roast the products is fucking hilarious and its so expertly done!
This is my first comment on your channel, i commented to thank you for the great info you provided on how they can know that my phone has been dipped in water....
+JerryRigEverything I was thinking if there is a way if my phone has been dipped in water and i can replace those red crossed stickers to fool them... 😀
look at the 2 round speed test by phonebuff bertween iPhone 6s and Samsung Note 7, Engineer. I'm sure most people buy phone to call, text and use internet based services and not to rub it on their ass while in a swimming pool. I'm not an apple fan, I use LG g4 and I Love android devices, its just that i'm sure when apple does stuff, they do it perfectly. so it won't come out with a water resistant phone but a waterproof one whenever it does.
iPhone is already quiet water resistant just they dont mention it my 6s was sitting inside my bag filled with water during my exams my phone was in water for about 2 hours and still works just as fine (it was raining and i didnt knew my bag was wet form inside)
Hey Jerry, I got a question about Samsung's water damage warranty. I dipped my S7 in a 3-4ft pool for about 10 secs and the screen freaked out later and died. So, I was scared that I caused it but later I called Samsung and they said I should send it in for evaluation and they offered to repair it at no cost. So you spoke about the water ribbons that would bleed. So does that mean mine didn;t bleed? and if it's a no then why did water come out of the SIM card tray when I pulled it out after I had removed it from the water?
If it really was a quick 10 seconds than maybe your indicators didn't bleed out. Also, Samsung might be nice about the liquid damaged phones, even though its not included in their coverage. Its hard to say for sure. It also depends on what rep looks at your phone. Some don't care, and some are super sticklers.
Thanks for the respond. It's a male that started looking at it according to the Repair Tracking site Samsung has then a lady took over and now they are waiting for a part to come. S7 is a great phone.
Jerry thank you for close pictures off earpiece speaker. Unfortunately it looks like Samsung used same erpiece speaker like is in s7/S7 edge. This means exactly same design problem . I dont understand why they not fix this ratling sound issue. Im dissapointed ...
After watching your videos about Huawei phones....i started to respect quality of Samsung's and Apple's phones. This channel is some kind of Vikiliks in world of smartphones, well done and keep going
Just dropping a possibly dumb question in between here but ... The pushy button at the end of the S pen, is it a function or just a spring to get the pen out easier?
Crazy thing to do that you take time to open and expose everything inside the phone. But! Great job. It's a good information that your giving. Hope to see more of your videos. 😆
Are you planning to re-test the scratch resistance? The claim by Corning is that your Level 3 pick basically rubbed off on the hardened glass, rather than scratching it. Would you like to take some macro shots to verify or debunk this claim? Would be awesome.
In the EU there are 2 types of warranty: 1. voluntary warranty by the brand 2. mandatory warranty by the seller If the seller in which ever way (probably there is at least some point on the packaging of the phone?) advertises the IP68, their warranty will have to cover it.
samsung don't know if you yake it deeper.. some sellers in my country give you a special warranty cost 99$ and if your phone's screen Crack than they'll replace it but if your screen damaged they won't
I know its just me, but its 2016, i have galaxy s 3 and i have never used any cases, guards etc.. simply because I hate em. Yet my phone has 2-3 minor scratches on the display, due to the fact my phone is very old one and i simply do not care. I think people should be able to place their phone in the bags without any reason to worry about it in any way. Weather about keys, knifes, water, spitted shampoos etc..
Great video again. Just a point and again not encourage people to submerge their phone, there was a fault with some S7 Active phones letting in water. Samsung did acknowledge the problem with some few devices not having correct water resistance level and did replace the phones. The warranty you read out was a T-Mobile warranty, not the Samsung warranty. Just pointing that out.
One of the most informative videos of all time. Eventhough I am against destroying amazing pieces of technology like other UA-camrs do, this one was needed.
very nice explanation on how the water proofing works on note 7 thanks for the awesome info i have a suggestion for u r videos u can also add explaining the hardware parts used in the phone tho it will make video longer
+Sirapong Saejia rubber and adhesive slowly fail with time. It should last longer than your cell phone will. But it also depends on the abuse you give it
Hey I've been following your channel for a long time, even repaired my phone using one of your repair videos. So I just wanna say thank you! Continue your amazing job here by telling the truth that companies doesn't want to get out there... like this new GG5 shitty glass that Gorilla wants down our throats even saying that your tests aren't controlled and that you may be altering the results. truth is, by following you a long time, I know this isn't true since you are honest and most of the phones you buy them yourself...
Just because water resistance does not mean you can bring it for a swim and study marine biology underwater. Keyword, resistance. Not proof. For me, I would keep these phones for accidental liquid spills or getting caught in the rain.
Samsung service centers are not the same around the world. They could wet the indicators themselves and make you pay up or refuse to fix your phone. You could fight them but the time, stress and effort is something most people in developing countries can't take. So people take it to local shops and get half repaired phones. Even consumer courts in these countries could drag cases like this for years. WE NEED more videos like this.

I wanna watch your review of this phone so bad, ugh!
electrically insulting? what do you mean? lol
+ed tyler insulating? Read what I said lol
+Erica Griffin I read it as insulating too and I was like what is Erica trying to say!!
waiting for your review of this device!!
too bad it wasn't 🔥fireproof🔥
No phone is.
Jurgully Purf! The nokia 3310 is fire proof

Nathanpro69 yes like i and otthers fins too 😂
How can the note 7 be fireproof if it was recalled because it exploded

5:03 "Bowls of Cereal"
And if you turn on the subtitles, it says _"bowels of cereal"_
I think it's funny😂😂
The rubber seals at headphone jack and other opening is such a small thing to do, why don't all phones come with this basic rubber seal? Sweat, rain drops or drop in a small ditch during rains is quite common. Is this really that expensive to do?
Zack, can you tell how other phones manage the sweat not transferring to your earpiece?
its expensive and hard to repair
making such small parts with such tiny tolerances are bit to replicate. Samsung is god.
There are ways to make things water proof but they are slow and time costing and time = money!

Can't they spray something like neverwet onto the board? That would be fairly cheap and also quick to do.
watch the video dude!
I did. Did I miss something he said?
+jedi22300 expensive and time consuming. so it would be very hard to do it on a massive scale
That's why I said spray something like neverwet. "That would be fairly cheap and also quick to do"
+jedi22300 Neverwet is expensive and takes long to apply... That's what he's saying. I don't know how more blunt we can be.
If water rolls away on internals coated with a hydrophobic spray, then where does it roll away to, if everything is sealed up? You would just have to wait until it evaporates? Would it still be a danger to the circuits, if it's just rolling around until it's gone?
Nice question, if someone could answer, I'd like to know the answer too.
Hydrophobic sprays, again, do not fully guarantee the circuit board will not fry, and acts as a safe measure.
Hydrophobic in such design as any mobile phone is really hard. You need to avoid all connectors as it will case open circuits (same if you wan to use lacquer)... I'm glad that manufacturers started with this and there is no way back so it will be only better...
If everything is sealed how did the water get in? If it did from a leak it'll get out the same way
jay syed Doesn't happen like that with such small entry point. Water is just not going to leave the same way easily.
Your voice is so emotionless and monotone. It makes these videos genuinely interesting despite me not actually having an interest in phone internals... Also the way you manage to roast the products is fucking hilarious and its so expertly done!
Good video sir!
Man, I really love how educational yet fun your videos always are, I'm really glad your channel exists !
This is my first comment on your channel, i commented to thank you for the great info you provided on how they can know that my phone has been dipped in water....

This channel is pretty good. His voice is very nice and the amount of time and effort he puts into explaining things is really a positive. Good job!
Going to need water to put the fire out!!
Everytime I watch your video, I learn something new. Hats of to you and thanks for uploading for such type of videos.
Now this is what's called engineering ,no worries iPhone users will get this soon in iPhone 12s ,lol.

His Name is Zack. :P
Just saying...
Arun Kumar emmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm oke
You can get sprays that allow electricity to flow normally but repulse/repel water I use it on my Galaxy S5 Plus for extra protection!
ur channel is awesome dude
+Savior Drake Thank you!
+JerryRigEverything keep up the good work man
u are truly a tech guru...........u have the ultimate knowledge of phone.....thnkx man for uploading this type of video..........cheers for u....
Why don't you teardown the s pen to show us what makes it oalso water resistant??
+Lord Jon well... So Just bteak it😂
+Lord Jon no, if you cut it properly in half you will be able to see all the components and what makes it water resistant
+Jad Bhamdouni am I wrong?
i think jerry forget about it lol
+Nagesh Katkur hahaha yh ik but his name is zack
this is probably the best tech channel I have ever subscribed to!
kudos to jerry for his amazing videos
Jerry thank you for close pictures off earpiece speaker. Unfortunately it looks like Samsung used same erpiece speaker like is in s7/S7 edge. This means exactly same design problem . I dont understand why they not fix this ratling sound issue. Im dissapointed ...

so if we enter water with the sim card tray out, our phone is a goner?
+bluezgoldz indeed.
+JerryRigEverything I wow thanks alot for the info!
Is the s pen water resistant?
+Nate Brown yes
+MrBam909bam do not root your phone Unless you want to lose Samsung pay permanently in that phone.
I see absolutely no reason to dislike such an informative video. People out there are crazy!!
Take notes Apple and stop being so fucking hardheaded this guy is basically doing the homework for you
jerry rig like a pro moments 🔥
Waterresistant with headphone jack itself is enough to start convincing me staying away from iPhone, if iPhone 7 has headphone jack removed.
At least the iPhone 7 is fire resistant as well lol.
***** it's a joke lol.
@Epic Pro X #FreeEpicProX wdym when their phones are water resistant?
Good job Jerry! Nice change on your channel, carry on!
I'm from Indiana i like your programs
+a.barakath ali Thank you!
+JerryRigEverything Так оказывается, он не особо устойчив к воде? Джерри, спасибо за показ!!
Yoe know what I think about your channel?, it's the best!. You deserve more views and subs.
Is the Note7 Orgasm proof? I do not want my gal to use it as a vibrator.
Tell her to not use the Galaxy s3, the vibration on that is stronger than its successors.
tell her to use a nokia 3310
or tell her to use an actual vibrator..?
5:00 "bodily fluids"
yeah, but she wont be 5 feet deep, so that would be safe then
Man you are so professional at reviewing!
You gave up on fixing it, didn't you?
+IamNOTyourFather Never!!
Just dropping a possibly dumb question in between here but ... The pushy button at the end of the S pen, is it a function or just a spring to get the pen out easier?
+Joe Brabo It helps you get the pen out.
+Nate Brown hmm makes sense. Thanks for the reply.
I would love to see water resistance tests included in your scratch, fire & bend tests!! :)
I you, other users, agree, thumbs up!
wtf is 5ft in meters?
+Bartosz Olszewski 1.6 meters.
can u put subtitles on for that :)
Crazy thing to do that you take time to open and expose everything inside the phone. But! Great job. It's a good information that your giving. Hope to see more of your videos. 😆
Is the bomb in the phone water resistant?
No but it is really good at toasting bagels.
Every battery is a bomb if it's overcharged or being squished.
Just your Random kid ya know What about note 8?
Are you planning to re-test the scratch resistance? The claim by Corning is that your Level 3 pick basically rubbed off on the hardened glass, rather than scratching it. Would you like to take some macro shots to verify or debunk this claim? Would be awesome.
is there beter ıp then 68 like 69 70 681 some thing like that
IP69K
This means Dust tight and protected against powerful high temperature water jets.
Nice
IP 99
?
With IP 68 the 6 stands for dust resistance and the 8 for water resistant
I like how you do your videos everything just comes together
Last!
Great work Jerry.Keep going
"great" so it is advertised as water resistent but not covered by waranty 😂 "nice job samsung"
all manufacturers do that!
In the EU there are 2 types of warranty:
1. voluntary warranty by the brand
2. mandatory warranty by the seller

some sellers in my country
give you a special warranty cost 99$ and if your phone's screen Crack than they'll replace it
but if your screen damaged they won't
water resistant not water prrof, if they advertised water proof they would cover it,
In fairness what he showed was from the Carrier, it said T Mobile don't cover it, so I wonder if Samsung themselves do?
Jerry please reply ! i love your channel so much ! idk why but i really love your channel 😍 nice video btw 😁
+Haziq Connor Thank you!! ;-) I'm glad you enjoy it.
JerryRigEverything you're welcome ☺ (OMG YOU REPLIED) 😂😍😍🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
seems like the build quality is high. I just dont like gorilla glass 5 ...
scratches easy.
I know its just me, but its 2016, i have galaxy s 3 and i have never used any cases, guards etc.. simply because I hate em. Yet my phone has 2-3 minor scratches on the display, due to the fact my phone is very old one and i simply do not care. +Ицо Коцев tempered glass is amazing though, you won't even notice it
+robert brown but doesn't work on curved displays...
gg5 is the best so far ,how can u hate it ?
Great video again. Just a point and again not encourage people to submerge their phone, there was a fault with some S7 Active phones letting in water. "what do you think of the note 7?" I think that is 'explosive'... if you know what I mean :)
Amazing Channel. Informative and interesting. One of my top favorite on UA-cam.Keep up the awesome work, Zack. Hope to see your next soon. Cheers!
translate 5 feet for us normal people pls
Apparently "normal people" are also too retarded to use google

Very comprehensive. Earned a new subscriber.
very nice explanation on how the water proofing works on note 7 thanks for the awesome info i have a suggestion for u r videos u can also add explaining the hardware parts used in the phone tho it will make video longer
Can you please tell us the mechanical difference between splash resistant and water resistant?
0:07 what makes it waterproof
0:24 water resistant
name of the video: waterproof
well done jerry
"Electronics don't like water" I thought it was what's in the water it doesn't like? de ionized water is fine right?
Very Good Effort Jerry !!
My favourite channel. Keep up the good work . btw are you going to test the Samsung C7 ?
Good video. Its good to know that raid and such wont destroy the phone. Taking a swim or shower is not something i dare to do anyway :)
Amazing work and details to the core! Awesome channel!
Awesome video Jerry :)
This was a very good video I understood everything you said throughout the video, You made the video very self-explanitory... Keep up the good work.
Very interesting! Thanks for the explanation and demonstration, showing the components inside the phone that makes it water resistant!
I enjoy every vid from you ^^
i have a question.. what do you think the water resistant will do after a year or 6 months ??
+Sirapong Saejia rubber and adhesive slowly fail with time. It should last longer than your cell phone will. But it also depends on the abuse you give it
I love you videos. this is more educating channel than discovery channel. above all u really breakdown even thing to simplicity and perfectly
nice video man, good presentation and very educative
you should be getting more views than what you have. this is a great video
Hey Zack. Haven't seen any camera test for a long time. Hope you make one soon.

Awesome review jerry
Hey Jerry! I really appreciate your videos. they are very informative . keep up the good work. you are second to none. 👍👍
Man your videos are awesome & very Informative...Keep it up
+Hiren Parmar Thanks man! I appreciate it.
Message to phone manufacturers:
*No way I'm buying a water resistant phone until you include water damage to the warranty.*
You can buy a separate damage or steal warranty at the place you buy your phone from
Why do I need to pay extra? It should be included in the general warranty.
Samsung are considering covering it under regular warranty now
Just because water resistance does not mean you can bring it for a swim and study marine biology underwater. Keyword, resistance. Not proof. For me, I would keep these phones for accidental liquid spills or getting caught in the rain.
HTC has water damage protection one time. But they don't have any water resistant phones yet, so
Zack, will you ever do a Lenovo phone durability test or teardown? Thanks
good work man. waiting for durability test on honor 8
AMAZING info man, appreciate all the hard work!
Q:what made it waterproof.
Ans:it blasts and evaporates water
