I did not hear anything about that..... I'm guessing your speaking about the FR tremolo posts. This one the bridge aligns to the routes 100%. and there is room for saddle adjustment on all the saddles back and forth. This was a First run production guitar...
Most of the time these holes are done on the CN Router.... So that makes me think maybe there was a problem with the fixture moving during the bore routine. Just Guessing.. As this guitar doesn't have that problem.
But this helps others looking at this guitar... Now they know to look for this when looking over the instrument.

This was the first production run that they did with the NEW FR 1000 bridge...

This guitar was designed by Alex Lifeson ... I'm sure it was his setup and pickup configuration ...
But .... I thought the same thing when testing it ..
After playing the guitar the center and neck position are great for all types of playing... Clean or dirty...
The pickups and how it is setup just works .... With the coil splits and phase switch .. it just does what other Les Paul's I have played can't do ..

I notice sometimes you refer to your Peterson tuner as a Robertson. is Robertson a brand you use at work? This is a really nice guitar however I feel like I have to point out that a Texas Toast Challenger Level 1 cost $1299 and for $100 more you can get it with custom handwound pickups made by Dylan Talks Tone however it doesn't come with a Floyd so that may be a deciding factor. I know this isn't a custom one off from a Luthier (probably $3000) but it's nice to know there are small American guitar companies trying to pass on a savings to the customer. Thank you for the review 🍺

    • @DominionFretWorks
      @DominionFretWorks  5 місяців тому +2

      Ya.... I do .... LOL
Dunno why, I call it a Robertson.
I have some of Dylans pickups here... very nice pickups. The pickups in the stock Epiphone are fine. The way it is wired allows for so many different tones.
Would the Dylan Pickups be better ???? Dunno.
I have reviewed a lot of guitars.... The sound you hear is not just the pickups.... The Amp has more to do with your tone.. IMO
Not saying cheap pickups will sound like Dylans thought a great amp... not at all. But you will get more from your amp and how it is dialed in.
For me... the tones from this guitar are fine.... It hits all the marks for the tones needed to play a wide range of music.
Sometimes ... we over think things.... LOL
and chase a tone...Let the guitar speak to you. They will tell ya what they like. the feedback you get from the neck and the tone you hear will push you play new things if you bond with the guitar.

Just got home last night and theirs was a box on the porch ..... 😁
So . . . . . . it was time to review a Guitar that has had a review before on the channel but had some problems.... From other UA-camrs .. IE UA-cam channels have said the problems are fix now and it is the BEST 230.00 DOLLAR GUITAR ON AMAZON!
The last one I reviewed had
      1) the worst tuners ever on any guitar I had reviewed before.
      2) Had fret leveling problems... Better than the other models that I had reviewed from this company... but still not good
      3) Pickups just flopped around in the routes...
We are going to see if they have INFACT fix the production problems.... and see if it really is the best bang for your buck guitar on Amazon...

Great review - thanks for spending quality time on the clean settings - so many reviewers seem to focus on overdrive / distortion which doesn't help much at all. Impressive guitar - I have a nice '68 Custom and recently bought the Epi Cantrell Wino which really impressed me. I'm sure this one is just as well made . . . I'd love a Les Paul with whammy bar but not exactly in the budget right now. I do have a PRS SE 24-08 and the mIddle position with the neck split is a favourite for arpeggiated chordal stuff - on this one it sounded like perfection ! Thanks again - will check it out at my Gibson / Epi stockist.

Great breakdown of this guitar. I ordered mine yesterday and Tuesday can't get here fast enough. The one in the store was definitely a demo and needed major work. Hopefully, the one they ordered will truly be new and not a return. I wondered what type of quality I could expect if I do get a new one. Hopefully, the QC is consistent and the one I receive is as good as the one in this video. Looks like they hit it out of the park again. Even better I only paid $999 for mine :).

Get a under plate for your FR bridge...
It is a little flat plastic slab with rubber on the bottom of it... Put that under the bridge when doing a string change...
      OR
The way I do restrings on a FR bridge...
Don't cut all the strings off at one time.... Replace one string at a time leaving the old strings Intune as you replace with new ones.... Tune as you go....
The problem with removing all the strings is .... The springs pulling on the Tremolo Base Plate.... once all the strings are removed.... the Base Plate will go all the way down to the body of the guitar pinching the knife edges on the base plate to the Falcrum Screws..( Height Adjustment Screws ) if you look at the screws you will see a coned area ... the knife edge goes in this coned ( v-shaped ) area.
This will damage the knife edge of the base plate...and sometime the screws...
Replacing 1 string at a time keeps string tension on the tremolo and keeps it floating...so the knife edge stays in the grove of the height adjustment screw.
Never adjust the height of your bridge with string tension or spring tension on the base plate... This cam also damage the knife edges of the base plate.
Make sure the knife edge is not touching the screw as you adjust the height.

That looks like a beauty. I’ve been looking at those but have held off. Agree that Epiphone has really upped their game lately. Picked up the new 59’ LP Factory Burst and it’s fabulous with the Gibson custom buckers and Gibson headstock. Also picked up the DG335…1st one came with a crack at nut (seems several had this happen), but replacement was good. It’s a little bit heavier than I expected, but with the wait list you have to go with what SW has. (I’m waiting on a EVH-SA126 at the moment)…. it is . . . . I try to remember what things are really costing now days.... Seems the 800.00 to 1400.00 dollars mark is the sweet spot for a guitar that is 100% ready to just play.... Not saying it doesn't happen with some of the budget guitars. As it has happened. but it is still hit and miss on Pickups....from what I have been seeing.... There has been 2 or three with what I would call next level pickups... The Monsoon in point... But Leo Jaymz seems to have fret problems. The last two firefly guitars I have reviewed I think have been the best Pickup/Fretworked guitars to date.
BUT ... I must say... the finish on thos Epiphone is just.... DEEP and Sweet ! and I have not seen that on a budget guitar... and with the spilt coil / phase switching and the pickups they are using in this model... WOW is it good ! OH and a real FR 1000 with a stock 37mm block... ya it is good at the price point they have it at !

I've always hated the name Epiphone. It just sounds cheesy. Gibson should have dropped the Phone part like 40 years ago and just called it Epi , after the original founder Epi.

A lot of people call them EPI....
But maybe they do what Kentucky Fried Chicken did... No one calls them that anymore its KFC..
Maybe at some point they will do the EPI banding.
