  • Join me in Liverpool (EGGP/LPL) as we use the excellent freeware ZIBO MOD for the default 737 (Version 3.24u) in X Plane 11 for a short sector to Glasgow (EGPF/GLA). Prior to Engine Start we’ll step through the Taxi Routing, SID and Takeoff Performance all using real world procedures and techniques.
Full Flight Sim tutorials are flown live time and live weather. This allows me to show you real guidance on how we fly certain approaches using a variety of techniques. The Weather in Liverpool…
    EGGP - 180/18 9000 -RA SCT020 BKN026 05/04 Q1005
We’ll push from Stand 40 and Taxi via W and A to depart off RW27 and fly the POL 4T SID
After TOC on this very short sector I’ll give you a full Approach Briefing for ILS 23 In Glasgow and step through what you need to setup for a typical ILS approach. Today I’ll be vectoring myself at the termination of the LANAK 2A STAR. The briefing will Include the Landing Performance calculation using the Boeing OPT App.
It’s a typical February in Scotland!
    EGPF - 250/18G28 5000 -RA SCT020 BKN008 08/04 Q1000
Throughout the latter stage of the approach I’ll show you how to manipulate the MCP to try and maintain a continuous decent onto an ILS. We’ll fly the Approach to a Landing, clean up the aircraft and taxi onto stand!
Any questions feel free to ask!

    Hi Chaps,
Firstly, thanks for all the positive comments and messages regarding this tutorial using the excellent ZIBO freeware MOD for the 737-800 on my first outing with X-Plane. As many of you’re commenting and asking very similar questions I’ll try and answer the most FAQ’s here!
    1. Is X-Plane 11 better than FSX/P3D?
I've never tried P3D but I've been told the FM is the same as FSX's. After only logging around 10 hours on the X-Plane platform the sim, in my opinion, is miles ahead of FSX. Just from a general user point of view, a fresh vanilla installation of XP 11 if far better than my propped-up version of FSX Steam with a host of weather engines, texture updates and pay ware scenery. (I am no way affiliated, just my honest humble opinion!)
I’ve been flying for 13 years in real life and used MSFS for almost 20 years. I’ve flown gliders, single and multi-engine light aircraft and the 737NG. Comparable aircraft in X-Plane 11 react and handle in a very similar way. Small things like ground effect, the way aircraft reacts to external forces, X-Plane models flight in a way more akin to real life and it feels like you’re flying through air!
    2. What’s better? ZIBO or NGX?
I genuinely have no preference. The NGX is obviously a complete product. It’s extremely immersive with all the systems modelled accurately and I’ve used it and will continue to use it for the foreseeable future. If you wanted to simulate every detail, practice non-normal situations as realistically as possible it's obviously the go to product!
ZIBO MOD is still a WIP but even in the last month there has been a significant improvement in the FM and It feels pretty good to fly and not far off the real thing! A lot of work has gone in and will continue to go in to further improve the MOD. There is input from RW pilots, 737 pilots (including myself!) and with ZIBO’s unsurpassed dedication you’ll see this aircraft develop to a truly accurate replication of the NG.
Lastly thank you for all the recommendations for addons of X-Plane 11. The sole purpose of this channel is to show you how to operate the 737-800 based on real world operating procedures with a little bit of humour and memes in-between. I will try some of your suggestions!
One last note! I make a real conscious effort to answer all queries from UA-cam video comments, FB Page messages, twitter, email and Instagram. In the last three months the amount of message I have received has increased tenfold. Please take the time to scroll the comments section in my videos before asking a question. I think I’ve had about 30 comments asking the same question in this very tutorial! You might find your query has already been answered! Nonetheless please feel free to ank a question if you can’t find what you’re looking for, I am here to help!
You’ll be seeing both the NGX, ZIBO MOD and perhaps other aircraft in the future.
All the best and thanks for watching!

Great to see you doing this tutorial on the Zibo mod for those of us who have switched from FSX/P3D to x-plane. It was hard to be weaned off PMDG but to have someone like Zibo giving so much dedication for free, it makes the change worthwhile.
BTW I have already cleaned up quite a number of errant taxi lights as they are terribly hard to dodge :)
Better Pushback is a must as is Little Navmap (for flight following and even route planning). Both are free.
I have been following your tutorials from day 1 & always wait in anticipation for the next. Thank you for your welcome contribution.

Thank you so so so much for this excellent video, and thank you for sharing your expertise and knowledge with us! I'm recently moving from FSX to XP11 and Zibo. I've flown the 737 in FSX for years, but this level of detail is entirely new to me. It is awesome that there are people like you with real life experience and training sharing their knowledge with us enthusiasts. Have a great day, and safe flying!

Thank you for this, and welcome to X-Plane! Your videos are a breath of fresh air on UA-cam - the more I learn the more I realize how many of the 737 tutorials out there contain a lot of rubbish (and missing) instruction, as of course they are not taught by actual 737 pilots. Your videos are tempting me mightily to make the jump to PMDG but aargh I have so much invested in X-Plane! :) I will just try to follow along the best I can with the Zibo (which is no slouch) for now.

      Hi Jacob and welcome!
PMDG is excellent and it's worth while taking a look at but ZIBO MOD is certainly a good rendition of the NG. It's still improving and XP 11 for me feels like a much more realistic sim! I'll be still using the NGX for my tutorials!

Simply amazing. I tend to think that I could really be a pilot after all my hours of flying (from FS2004/FS9, FSX, FSXSE, Xplane 10 and now X Plane 11), but then I watch your videos and realize that I am not doing things the right way. Even my rotation isn't as smooth as you make it look. I would much rather be in a plane flown by you than one flown by me, even a virtual plane. Everything is so smooth and under control. Very good videos man. Thanks for letting us WANNABEES learn from you.

      Hi vasily202, thanks a lot!
Practice makes perfect and don't despair, most simmers wouldn't know how to move the seat forward to reach the controls to fly the real aircraft but a lot can be learnt from using a desktop simulator.

This is funny also because it’s like zibo watched this video because he’s now just updated to have adf. The pace he adds new features is unbelievable.

Really nice video! Glad to see your use of the Zibo 737-800X. If you have not yet tried the newest version (3.24X) there are a lot of changes - and more to come. The FM is more sensitive though, and I recommend everyone who tries it spend time tuning your flight controller - what ever that may be. Whether control stick or control yoke and pedals, the control interface does at least 50% of the work and impression of flying characteristics...
    Welcome to XPlane!

By the way... I congratulate you on your excellent teaching technique. Simmers will enjoy the experience more if they actively manage the flight, evaluating and controlling the flight environment and evaluate the FMS/Autoflight system performance, taking appropriate action when necessary to ensure the flight path and progress of the flight. This is what a real pilot does :)

Yet another top quality video! 👍🏼 Thank you FD2S! 👨🏼‍✈️ I was going to ask you your preference between the two sim platforms but let’s not open that can of worms and start a war between the two communities! I’m now going to throw in another cliché... ‘any landing you walk away from is a good one’! Having said that I think that one would’ve bruised the old coccyx! 😂

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  6 років тому +6

It’s early days (I’ve logged about 6 hours on X-Plane!) but I really like the way it feels, it’s stable too. I need to have more time flying around to make more conclusive comparisons. I went back to using the NGX and that felt great so! It’s hard to choose.
Re the landing.... That’s a landing where I’d stay in the flight deck until everyone had disembarked. 😂

Glad to see X-Plane 11 here! I changed from Prepar3D some time ago, and the only thing I really missed was the PMDG 737. Now the ZIBO 737 is starting to look great, and the simulator for me is way better. I use most of the time X-Plane 11 with IXEG 737, and it's amazing compared to my previous Prepar3D and PMDG 737 setup.

X-Plane is said to be more realistic for the way it is simulated instead of a set performance code for different conditions, it is modelled in plane maker and actually simulated the airflow around the plane to get realistic handling, if you model the plane really well it’s perfect

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  6 років тому +1

Even though I've logged less than 10 hours in X-Plane I've had a play round with a few aircraft and I would agree the way aircraft behave in the simulator is far more realistic.

The software that vatsim uses for communication is very old and the sound quality is terrible compared to real ATC. Keep up the great work!

I Love this tutorial! Thank you so much for taking the time & effort to produce. When you departed, you only had LNAV selected. On activating CMD A (and prior to selecting V/S speed) what is causing the aircraft to continue the climb - are you still manually pulling back on the yoke or does the aircraft automatically calculate an ascent rate based on information from the FMC? Sorry if you have answered this in a previous tutorial. Kind regards. JB
