    Thank you captain, for this video. Really instructional, since real landing videos might not explain everything, but you did. Best detailed explanation I've seen so far.

      No worries, I will do some more 737 ones, I'm waiting to see if the PMDG one comes out soon for MSFS as it should hopefully be a decent product! I've got an RNAV approach one that you might find useful though in the meantime: ua-cam.com/video/WLu_-Cc2t34/v-deo.html

    Very nice, a very real profi procedure. I enjoyed it very much! I'm online flying with ATC most of the time and there are some details like watching the standby gauge LOC and G/S before indicated on the PFD.

    • @Taylair
      @Taylair  3 роки тому

      This is a current procedure used at Bristol airport (EGGD). Yes, watching the glide slope on the standby gauge is really helpful to avoid getting too high and having too much energy on the approach! I’m glad you found the video useful. More 737 stuff will be coming soon!

    Hi thanks for the reply your method certainly has merit. What is your departure airport or are you starting already in flight? That way I can try and recreate you flight from the start unless you have any documentation you could post. I am making progress but it's a slow process. Thanks

    hi, silly question but forgive an 83 year old! I want to follow your video but unclear as to how I can set the aircraft up to the correct position for the start of you video. I know x-plane has the facility to start a flight from either 3 or 10 miles out. The other question is that because I am quite slow how can I give myself time to enter everyting in the fmc.

      I have created a flow document (MS Word) that covers what I need to do start-to-finish on a flight. It's a work in progress. When planning the flight with Simbrief and Navigraph Charts, I put as much of the info that I'll need from the charts in that flow so I don't have to be hunting through charts so much while flying. Then I make a PDF that I display on an iPad next to my yoke. I set up as much as I can before taking off, and I start setting up the descent very early: 100 to 150 NM from Top of Descent. Remember that you can always pause the sim to give you time to think things through. I save the flight at various points (ready for push and start, on runway ready for takeoff, at Top of Climb, etc.) so if something goes wrong I don't have to start again from scratch. I don't use the option to start a certain distance out because then the plane won't be configured the way I want it.

    How do i know on what altitude i should be for the ILS?

    • @Taylair
      @Taylair  2 роки тому

      The Intercept altitudes are on the approach plate. After you have intercepted, keep the glideslope dot in the middle. Check out these ILS videos: ua-cam.com/video/6UoKw2jHUkg/v-deo.html, ua-cam.com/video/hevlLmcVQDA/v-deo.html they might help

      @@Taylair sir; may i ask you two questions - you said " flaps down / maneuvering speed" and dial it in. where to you get this speed from? second; some people turn the altitute all the way down to zero when decending - are you doing this in real world also or is this simply wrong? thank you and greetings from LOWG.

    • @Taylair
      @Taylair  2 роки тому +1

      The flap maneuver speed shows up on the speed tape on the PFD when the flaps are selected. I don’t think I’ve ever had to set 0 on the MCP in real world operations so no, that’s not normal.
