Crazy to think that it’s October and you’re still on restrictions. Thankfully ours was lifted but I’m letting my yard go to sleep . I’m an hour SE of Dallas and my soil temps are 65. I put yard mastery prodiamine down a month ago . Hoping we get those storms tomorrow as promised !
Ohhh man! I used a different version of that LESCO bag you just bought. I used a 36-0-6 version with fertilizer in it as well. I knew I should have gotten that 0-0-7 ugh!!
I’ve been doing some research on TX Property Code (202) on HOAs and have learned there’s actually a lot of protections now for the homeowner. Specifically, a lot of HOA restrictions on turf grass (idk about the two tree rule) are in fact void. Nobody usually brings it up tho.
Great Video with good information. I live in southern Louisiana. Big problem with 'lawn burr weed'. Would these products work well in controlling the lawn burr weed?
Yes,. If you got burr weeds, sand burr, khaki weed and the like you're going to want to go with 3 applications of pre Emergent over the next 6 months. So every 2 months. I'd go with prodiamine 65wdg as it's prob the cheapest vs granular application. Oct 1/dec/feb and again in April. Typically they say they last 3 ish to 5 months but we all know it's less from experience. 3 to 4 months is if you got your weeds under control and don't have many anymore weeds to put out lots of seed. I'd also suggest every other month you spot spray weeds with weedstop for Lawns (yellow top or red top... Louisiana so prob Bermuda grass but know your grass type bc not all prod 4 are safe for some grasses they have purple top for st Augustine grass) so Oct 1 preemergent, nov 1 spot spray, Dec 1 preemergent, Jan 1 spot spray, Feb 1 preemergent, march 1 blanket spray your yard for weeds not spot spray.... Once you get it under control next year you can cut back all applications back and spread them out a little more. This took care of my sand burr aves khaki weed (another sticker weed) problem! Oh 1 other thing read the labels, watch videos and take notes bc you want to apply them properly to get the best results. Mow b4 putting preemergent down so it gets past the grass easier. Water in preemergent properly, don't mow a week b4 and 2 to 3 days after spraying weedstop etc all these tops help big time. I also like to spike my weedstop bottle with msm turf (28 bucks on Amazon and will last you a few years bc to use so little per 4 gallon spray tank, you can find videos on it msm turf or in think the original brand name is manor) again make sure any product is OK for your grass type, bc you don't say what grass type you have but 90% guessing it's Bermuda down in the south. I'm in Texas with Bermuda.
The time recommendations by region on the back of the bag are suggesting the first spring application. Is there a reason Prodiamine would not be recommended in the Fall for the Stonewall product?
No sir, no harm in applying Prodiamine in the fall. I think the spring application dates were used because that’s when you would apply it to prevent Crabrass. The fall app is just for winter weeds.
I’ve never had any dealings with it, personally. I’ve seen a video here and there about it and seen some discussions about it in the lawn forum. With that price tag, I’m assuming it’s gotta be pretty good. For my money, I don’t think you can beat Prodiamine. I’ve found it to be very effective and at a much more affordable price.
Yeah I got the Prodiame 65 shipped from yard mastery. Fast service. Just put mine down. It was messy to mix lol. Just seems like so little liquid like that would work vs. putting down granulas. But I’m sure it works good. You’ve been using it! 😂
great video i have a question my back yard it was full crabgrass i been keeling with grass killer all is gone now . I am planing putting new bermudas grass this fall can i put down pre emergency now on, or after the grass is establish ? thanks
Never plant Bermuda grass in the fall, always mid-late spring or early summer. Bermuda planted in the fall likely won't survive winter. Also pre emergent will also stop the Bermuda grass from germinating. So only use pre emergent after you have been mowing the new grass for at least 2 months sometimes it's best to wait for grass to be about a year old. You want deep/strong roots first!
So how many applications did you apply on to your lawn? I understand no more than 5 lb per 1000sf per year but I was wondering if you sprayed the prodiamine also? Thanks!
I could, it’s just a time issue for me. I’ve just been trying to apply things on my watering week the last several months. Hopefully we’re not on restrictions next year.
If you have a bigger yard I would use a better spreader lol the Sta-Green works for me though because it doesn’t sling the product super far and my lawn is fairly small.
I know it’s a HOA thing and you have to have two of them….but dangit those two trees look so ridiculously out of place and scale for what otherwise would be a perfect small bermuda lawn…they really need to change that stupid requirement especially with such small front yards. Bad planning on their part.
I agree 100%! I would love to get rid of them. Another commenter told me the state might have made some protections for the homeowner when it comes to detrimental HOA rules… I’ll have to check it out this winter.
Yankees fan still going to watch your videos even though it hurts
Haha I appreciate it!
I was waiting for this video thanks for the info! Gonna pick up some of that 007 soon.
👊
Go Astros! Back to lawn talk I’ll probably apply mine soon as well.
Go Astros!!

Don’t sweat it! I put down some fertilizer this weekend too! You just killed two birds with one stone.
@@LawnInsider I used that same brand name at a 30-0-5 preemergent with fertilizer in it as well. Trying to send a photo but not allowing me to
would you recommend spraying for weeds prior to applying the pre emergent?
Where is the link to purchase the little bottle?
What about Scott’s Crabgrass Preventer? (Preventer only not the weed and feed).
I'm sure it works if the directions are followed. I wouldn't hesitate to use it, especially if you got a deal or already have some.

I’ll have to look into that more over the winter, because I’ll have those things out of the ground so fast it won’t even be funny haha

I’m actually not sure! Don’t own one. Is it comparable to the settings on the larger units?

All I’ve used for the past two seasons! I agree though, it’s crazy how far that stuff stretches.

If you’re sodding, you can lay that down anytime. Regardless of sod or seed though, you’ll want to hold off on the pre-emergent.

Is it safe to use that on Raleigh St Augustine carpet grass?
Yes it is!
Why don't you water by hand after applying? Looked at your stage 3 and its allowed any day before 10am and after 8pm.
I could, it’s just a time issue for me. I’ve just been trying to apply things on my watering week the last several months. Hopefully we’re not on restrictions next year.
Can I mix prodiamine 65wg with 32 oz water and then apply with Ortho hose sprayer?
No. Your best bet is to mix the prodiamine at the recommended rate and apply. Then you water it in
How long will this app last? You're doing split app?
Depending on the rate, but around 3 months.
what spreader do you use or recommend? Edit: you use Stay Green spreader which is a Lowe's generic brand
If you have a bigger yard I would use a better spreader lol the Sta-Green works for me though because it doesn’t sling the product super far and my lawn is fairly small.
First Aussie 😁. Rhett , Great information.😎
Trevor, if I ever visit Australia, I’ve gotta meet you! Haha. Thanks!
Hi, is this product from Lowe's the same like the Barricade from Andersons? Also will get the same results as the original W65? Thank you
It's got the same active ingredient. I'm not 100% sure about the concentration compared to the others. I've had similar results with all of them.

Cost effectiveness is much better with the WG65 prodiamene liquid
Absolutely! Most liquid products are more cost effective.
