Ok I always like to think that the underwater city in noki bay is somehow connected to the city under rougeport in ttyd and I think it would make sense in a way because we do see piantas in both games and other similarities
There's a guy in the Hotel Delfino vents who says something like "These ghosts are annoying, I wish someone would come suck them up with a vacuum. Why are you looking at me like that?" Implying Luigi's Mansion happened.
I truly believe Sunshine takes place after Luigi's Mansion. This is because Luigi is never seen in Sunshine, implying he is staying at his new mansion still. Mario decided to go on a vacation after being saved by his brother. It doesn't make sense to me for luigis mansion to take place after sunshine, because if that was the case Luigi would be with Mario in sunshine
I did play Luigi's Mansion a year after I did Sunshine as a kid and I realize the reference now xD Also I notice how Luigi goes on his own adventure in TTYD, and how TTYD references Sunshine in a few ways, so that game must take place after Sunshine lol

I have several theories for why Bowser Jr. ended up with the magic brush that don't include E. Gadd secretly being evil. 1. Bowser Jr. is "stretching the truth" when he says E. Gadd "gave" him the brush. He wouldn't admit that he's a thief when he's playing the good guy. Or he just straight-up doesn't see himself as a thief. In his eyes he was saving his dear mother and had to get rid of Mario at all cost, so there's no way it would be theft if it's for the greater good. Besides, he was raised by Bowser, who lies all the time. 2. Bowser Jr. already had his shapeshifting bandana at the time, so E. Gadd thought he was Mario. I don't think it's ever specifically stated where BJ got it from. Most people assume he created it WITH the brush, but it's possible he already had it. Maybe it was made with magikoopa magic. I mean Bowser Jr. came to the island to "outsmart" Mario, so it's possible he already had the plan to frame him, which would make sense if he could already pose as Mario. 3. E. Gadd didn't realize Bowser Jr. was Bowser's son. This was the first time BJ was seen in the Marioverse. Even Peach and Mario didn't know him yet. Maybe Gadd thought he was just some random Koopa person and didn't expect him to use the brush for evil. Maybe he just wanted someone to test the potential of his creation, but by the time he realized his mistake, it was already too late. Or he never realized it at all. 4. E. Gadd technically DID "give" the brush to BJ, but not to keep. I could see Gadd working on some machine, laser-focused on his work, when Bowser Jr. curiously walks up and spies over his shoulder like "Whatcha doin'?" Then E. Gadd is like "Hold this for a moment.", as he hands him the brush, without even looking up from his task. And before he knows it Bowser Jr. has run off with his invention. I could totally see Gadd be this absent-minded. ...or maybe he just lost his glasses and couldn't see who was in front of him. Who knows.
I always thought of E. Gadd just being a tad eccentric that he doesn't always fully think about the repercussions of his inventions. The Luigi's Mansion series seems to portray him as such, at least.
To add to the Unsettling Hotel Delfino point, it’s implied the occupants are somehow brainwashed to stay at Sirena Beach. You’ll notice throughout some of the levels that there’s some Piantas and Nokis on the beach. The singing sisters, some fans watching, a Noki running around, and a Pianta measuring the distance between two steps. However, as the missions go on, you’ll notice their dialogue changes as they keep doing the same things over and over. For example: the lady measuring her steps starts by saying “I think it’s about 80 paces from here to there.” and then “I’m pretty sure it’s 80 paces to there.” and on the final mission, she says “I think I’ve lost weight...” Rather it’s brainwashing or a time loop or some other explanation, it’s pretty weird stuff and I’m surprised I’ve never seen anyone talk about it.
Maybe it could be a reference to Hotel California and the whole stage has a pocket purgatory-esque dimension, at least while it was haunted. Great observation Luminary of the Stars.
I, for one, actually love the 100% ending screen in this game. I get that it might feel a little anticlimactic, but you just completed the game. What would be the point of giving you a cosmetic or whatever if you're already done playing. Hotel Lacrima is most likely the scrapped name for Hotel Delfino. "Lacrima" means "tear" in italian, which makes a ton of sense when you think about the aura/vibe the hotel gives off, and the fact that its filled with Boos, so death and well, sadness and tears

17:58 ドルピック・タウン (Dolphic Town) is the name in Japanese for Delfino Plaza (so yeah, technically the one from Space World :P), like with Mare Village and Gelato Beach (マンマ・ビーチ (Mamma Beach)). You can actually find a bunch of signs calling it that in Delfino Plaza, and I think also in the Z button map? With the fire cheep cheep, I don't know why, but I always assumed the "lava" in the volcano was just covered in lethal goop, probably because the outside of the volcano has water in it. I know that makes no sense considering they're on fire. With the hat being life support and Mario losing health in the sun, I just assumed it was supposed to be heatstroke.
I'm surprised that the "Oh I'd love a dick!" Sunflower outside of Pianna Park wasn't on the iceberg. And also surprised that you didn't mention that another theory that went around with the book behind the door in the bottle stage was thought to be the book for Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Hotel Delphino is claustrophobic. And you’re right about the music being unsettling. It gets really weird too when you’re forced to navigate the hotel’s secret entrances like a maze. It’s also a little unsettling how you can invade people’s rooms, especially when you enter though seemingly impossible entrances (jumping through the ceiling of the bathroom and ending up in a bathtub on the second level). It’s like the hotel itself is something otherworldly and doesn’t belong on this plane of existence. There’s random fruit everywhere. It’s haunted by pink ghosts. There’s weird tunnels and stuff. It’s just a strange atmosphere for a Mario game.
Id like to think that the reason every level has a specific time frame is simply because Mario gets every shine from each area in one go. When he goes to Serena beach and fights the manta storm, he doesn’t just leave, He sticks around and continues through the rest of the episodes. After that he would likely just stay the night before returning to delphino plaza.
No lie, one of my fondest Sunshine memories was visiting Pianta Village at night, standing on the tree behind the hot spring, and just watching the Pinna Park Ferris wheel slowly spin in the distance. It was always so relaxing.
Regarding the fact that you can skip the first bianco hills episode, if you go up the windmill you’ll find a pianta. Talk to him and he references the fact that you’re not “supposed” to be fighting Petey Piranha yet and advises you to come back later.
Sol means Sun in some languages, the coin that has a sun in it are the shine sprites. The train was probably like the castle in Mario 64 then, areas required a specific number of shine sprites to be accessed
One word: Super Mario Sunshine Personally, I love the word “I went to the park today with my elephant and we had a wonderful time and then later we went to get iced coffee and donuts.”
12:48 I did, heh... exploring is fun. 20:18 In Spanish the course is called Playa Paradiso (Paradiso Beach), Paradiso is Italian for paradise - makes sense for a romantic place but... well, you soon start getting just what kind of "paradise" it refers to.
This is just me nitpicking but the "triangle" island is actually shaped after the Ocean Sunfish or Mola Mola!! They're my favourite animal despite me hating the ocean, here are some fun facts: They're the largest bony fish They get their English name from sunbathing at the surface to warm up and to let sea birds eat parasites off their skin, but are called "moon fish" or even "floating heads" in other languages They mainly eat jellyfish and are completely docile and often are curious about divers They can swim down to 600m below sea level I hope you enjoyed my tangent, been loving all the iceberg videos lately!
Love how you make the video fun and insert your own opinions and ideas :) So many iceberg videos are far too similar to straight forward list videos for me to truly enjoy.
The Underwater Ruins is the ancestral home of the Nokis, the elder confirms it. He asks you for help since they can't return to it with the polluted water in the way. Once you do everything you get to see the Nokis return in the 8th mission.
I absolutely love the energy you got in these videos! So much personality! A lot of iceberg videos give me kind of EH vibes but yours MMM Chef's kiss!! Beautiful! Can't wait to see more from you!
Ok, but when did fact/trivia videos begin being called "icebergs"?..... I'll admit I did learn a thing or two about a game I've literally adored for years so g'job on that
I got a theory for the eel's city; The snail people live there, and they've just evacuated because of the pollution. Now, you might be thinking "that makes no fucking sense, the snails are always on the land." But, they're clearly modelled after aquatic snails, judging from the shells, and it's likely that the anthropomorphization made them amphibious (because humans have lungs)
“The triangle island is Birth Island from Pokémon!” I’m pretty sure the sunfish island is supposed to be Mario Beach/Highway from Mario Kart Arcade GP given its layout
The underwater town in Noki Bay is only abandoned before mission 8. In the red coin fish mission all the Noki return to their ancestral home since the pollution is gone.
I think the goop may have been changed due to it's resemblance to oil, and because oil spills are very bad for the environment, I don't think Nintendo would want people saying that it's oil. Still looks pretty cool though
31:07 my theory is that this resembles basicly the goop as a manyfestation like virus, when creatures like goombas, piranha plants and other creatures touch it, they get corrupted by it and overcome, like some virus, and maybe the wierd face is the goop, like hell the goop piranhas might be piranha plants corrupted. Kinda scary if you ask me Edit: i think they must be fully drenched, not just touch it, like mario does not fall under the influemce of it
They probably got rid of that darker goop because A. It looks a little too much like actual oil B. Part of the point of the goop is that it's colorful (a lot resembles melted ice cream) and tastes like sweets to foreshadow that the person behind this is childish, along with a lot of other mannerisms and creations even before the 10 shine mark. (tantrums, the giant sticking out of his tongue, graffiti use in general, tasting oddly sweet, enemy designs, etc) Bowser's Fury makes this a lot funnier in hindsight tho.
Things I realised: In Japanese Dolphic actually means dolphin as you can see on the untranslated posters in hotel delfino, this might imply the old Isle Delfino name was 'dolphin town' or delfino town'. The glitch that resets your game is useful in speed runs when in pinna park on the first level you can exit the level to skip 2 Cutscenes.
About the Pikmin thing, it is canon that Mario takes place after Pikmin 3 or later, since there are Pikmin in Toadstool Tour. In other words, the Piantas are the fully-grown Pikmin, just like how the small insects and rodents increased in size after the dinosaur extinction. Also, the time anomalies are the ability to resurrect bosses by heading back to the time you beat them and undo the happy endings through what can only be described as temporal manipulation.
Sol coins probably became shines - sol means sun and with the train system it’d be a way to block progression to the next area until enough had been collected
20:21 yea thats true... but you also shouldn't go to jail, do community service and chase a doppelganger on one too. Also what about the wet-dry world aura, do you fell that one?
You know, the idea of the time changing in levels, or you know, being set in different times would have made much more sense with the train thingie, as the passing of time would be more evident.

"Released in 2002 for the cube" ah yes the cube, my favorite console, Successor to the nintendo 6
Nintendo Super was Rad
Damn I was hoping he would mention the “racist toad” and “mystery swastika” both being pretty iconic mario sunshine secrets
wait i've done some searching online and i know where to find him but what stage of Delphino Plaza can you find racist toad?
What? Where!?
i didnt even notice this was big marshes video at first. it just happened to pop up in my recommended. You're going somewhere bud
E. Gadd: ey kid, wanna paint brush
B. Jr: sure, I guess
Ok but the "ruins" in Noki Bay are the homes if the Noki. They live there, and we see them in it on mission 8
This was wonderful to experience. You're wonderful. You and Sunflower are both wonderful
Finally getting to play Sunshine on 3D All Stars and just got recommended this! Amazing as always
Not the UA-camr-Crossover I needed, but the UA-camr-Crossover I deserved.
I just finished sunshine for the first time today, so perfect timing lmao.
“Super Mario sunshine really makes you feel funky”
-Big Marsh
No lie, one of my fondest Sunshine memories was visiting Pianta Village at night, standing on the tree behind the hot spring, and just watching the Pinna Park Ferris wheel slowly spin in the distance. It was always so relaxing.
SuperMarioSunshine is one of the longest words i've heard in awhile.
I did hear "ostentatious" today.
But your word is better.
One word: Super Mario Sunshine
Personally, I love the word “I went to the park today with my elephant and we had a wonderful time and then later we went to get iced coffee and donuts.”
Your Voice is so cute and it reminds me of Satoru Iwata's Voice.
Awesome Video Man!
"one word"
continues to say three words
bruh
R/woooosh
I wonder if his name is Phil and if he trained Hercules
4 if you count the Hoohoo
12:48 I did, heh... exploring is fun.
20:18 In Spanish the course is called Playa Paradiso (Paradiso Beach), Paradiso is Italian for paradise - makes sense for a romantic place but... well, you soon start getting just what kind of "paradise" it refers to.
This is just me nitpicking but the "triangle" island is actually shaped after the Ocean Sunfish or Mola Mola!! They're my favourite animal despite me hating the ocean, here are some fun facts:
They're the largest bony fish
They get their English name from sunbathing at the surface to warm up and to let sea birds eat parasites off their skin, but are called "moon fish" or even "floating heads" in other languages
They mainly eat jellyfish and are completely docile and often are curious about divers
They can swim down to 600m below sea level
I hope you enjoyed my tangent, been loving all the iceberg videos lately!
One word: super Mario sunshine!
Me: hmm, well, Umm, y’see you didnt, it isn’t... I don’t think, you kinda, it’s not m, hmmm ok then.
I feel like the Peach's eyeball earrings thing should be on the iceberg too.
Wait, what?
@@0_dearghealach_083 her earrings mistakenly used her eye textures in a few scenes
Thanks! Well I've actually be cooking up a HUGE New Iceberg coming very soon, hot out the oven!
12:43 it's quite strange. in my switch version there's Pianta saying "I'm not sure if you're supposed to be here now" or something like that.
0:55 "Slick, precise movement."
ok
0:22 "For the Cube" LOL LMAO
For the Cube.
we must commence with the sacrifice, *FOR THE CUBE*
Ok, but when did fact/trivia videos begin being called "icebergs"?.....
I'll admit I did learn a thing or two about a game I've literally adored for years so g'job on that
I got a theory for the eel's city;
The snail people live there, and they've just evacuated because of the pollution.
Now, you might be thinking "that makes no fucking sense, the snails are always on the land." But, they're clearly modelled after aquatic snails, judging from the shells, and it's likely that the anthropomorphization made them amphibious (because humans have lungs)
As a person that loves the train aesthetic I’m absolutely fuming that they cut it out of Sunshine 😔
“The triangle island is Birth Island from Pokémon!”
I’m pretty sure the sunfish island is supposed to be Mario Beach/Highway from Mario Kart Arcade GP given its layout
Climbing the cage behind the Ferris wheel is the best part of the game.
And going to the windmill on first play through was everyone's first idea!
Watching you explain 4d was the greatest thing I’ve ever seen
23:40 E Gadd may not know that Bowser Jr. is bad. Assuming he got Jr's story about his "mom" it may have been an attempt to help him.
Kinda scary if you ask me
Edit: i think they must be fully drenched, not just touch it, like mario does not fall under the influemce of it
0:22
"Released in 2002 for the C U B E"
Ah yes, my favourite Nintendo console
1:51 99% sure thats a Ocean sunfish island
Triangle
I was so proud of this video for not misusing "begs the question" until 31:14. So close!
The pollution map demon is cute, either way. 🖤
I have a small theory, what if the secret levels that take place in the sky are the dreams of the shine sprites?
boi you got my respect for having Scott the woz in your recommended
Shadow the Hedgehog is really the Ultimate Life Form because he's a 4D being.
They probably got rid of that darker goop because
A. It looks a little too much like actual oil
B. Part of the point of the goop is that it's colorful (a lot resembles melted ice cream) and tastes like sweets to foreshadow that the person behind this is childish, along with a lot of other mannerisms and creations even before the 10 shine mark. (tantrums, the giant sticking out of his tongue, graffiti use in general, tasting oddly sweet, enemy designs, etc)
Bowser's Fury makes this a lot funnier in hindsight tho.
YES IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THISSSS
I’m glad someone on here has high praise for Sunshine. Ever since 3D All Stars all I’ve heard is slander that I wasn’t even aware existed!
That pollution map. Nightmare fuel
That “what of Mario said *No* ” gag was top tier, I laughed so hard I choked on my drinking FLUDD water
The ghost looking thing on the beta pollution map kinda looks like it could be those annoying wind enemies all over Bianca Hills and Ricco Harbor
27:23 This sweet cut where Mario is in the same place? Yes.
Imagine if the paintbrush ending hinted at a sequel of a sunshine-like game but the mechanics are with painting
my headcanon is it would be il piantissimo's revenge and he would be doing grafitti just like bowser jr did tbh
FYI: The "Soul Coins" idea was replaced by blue coins. I can give more information if someone wants.
I would enjoy more information
THIS IS THE BEST GAME AND YOU CANT CHANGE MY MIND
20:21 yea thats true... but you also shouldn't go to jail, do community service and chase a doppelganger on one too.
Also what about the wet-dry world aura, do you fell that one?
You know, the idea of the time changing in levels, or you know, being set in different times would have made much more sense with the train thingie, as the passing of time would be more evident.
the area under the water fall is the ancestral home of the noki’s. it’s literally mentioned in the game.
Interesting fact: the sun that appears in the game also appears as a minigame type of capture the sun or something from mario kart 8 dlx
