Speaking of tarot cards, the King refuses to fight Marceline because he sees it as "Subjecting himself to The Wheel Of Fortune", another tarot card reference, so given his force of will in trying to break the cycle, I'd say by the end of the episode he represents the Hanged Man, which stands for letting go of your position to find peace, learning from mistakes, and seeing life from a new perspective. He willingly goes through with the process of having his power removed at the end of the episode and effectively ends his previous life as the King of Vampires, so hey, the writers are incredibly good at what they do whether that was intentional or not.

You forgot the episode where if Finn opened his eyes he would transported to the cave where he activated that curse and sent to the exact time of it, meaning he wasted several years trying to break the curse while blind.
they even joked about it in, uh, Elements? The series after Islands. They come back from the human islands and everything is candified and Finn was like "Man I'm so tired I just wanna go home and sleep. This was the longest adventure we ever had." and Jake was like "What about that cursed Egress room that made you keep living the same day over and over again? Or Pillow World where you got old and died?" and Finn was like "..This was longer in emotional time."

You won't regret it. The show is fun, beautiful, comical, and deep, full of many real life themes relateable to both children and adults.
I full-heartedly believe that The Deer is one of the monsters from Before Nothing, along with being one of the Apostles of Golb. Alright, let’s look at what we know: - The deer just showed up in the Candy Kingdom one day and began terrorizing the populace. - After kidnapping all of the candy people, he began the process of taking the sugar out of them. - He has HANDS!! - He was able to kidnap and seriously weaken Peppermint Butler: also known as THE DARK ONE, and known acquaintance of DEATH and HUSON ABDEER (also a Before Nothing monster). His actions cause chaos all over the kingdom and (almost) mass genocide, which goes along with Golb’s purpose of instilling chaos and destruction everywhere he goes. And we know that evil comes in all shapes and sizes, with Gunther/Orgalorg coming to mind.
Simon put on the crown for one of the final times after he promised marceline not to after he heard a noise nearby, and when he attacked the bush where he heard the noise, it ended up just being a deer :0
I remember watching Obsidian and thinking "that's 100% a memorial tattoo." It's an extremely Pendleton Ward way to keep Finn and Jake together for the special
@@madmantheepic7278 Jake's dad (the stretchy guy) had been keeping himself alive by draining his offspring's powers before getting dunked on by Jake. I think we can safely assume Jake didn't do anything like that and died of natural causes.
I love all these so much but I propose that Finn’s dad doesn’t have memory loss, instead he was so distraught by having to abandon his son at sea that he is now in a constant state of denial. He couldn’t live with losing his baby, so he convinced himself that its part of his personality to be a careless dirt bag, he has taken the idea too far and now can’t be caring to his son nor the tiny villagers in “The Visitor” episode. He’s constantly running from Finn as emotional avoidance.
In the episode where Finn stops orgalorg from absorbing the catalyst comet, martin tells him:" you burn enough bridges, the only way to go is forward". So, I'd say you're spot on
I definitely think it's a combination, I thought there were instances where he actually forgot stuff pointing to a head injury (naturally can't think of them now), but this theory is great.
i usually don't like theories like this, but this one is really charming for some reason. fun fact, d&d was actually one of pendleton ward's main inspirations for the show ( dnd.wizards.com/articles/interviews/pendleton-ward-interview?x=dnd/4spot/20110408 )
By the time you finish Adventure Time, you're left with a thousand questions and the impression you just went on a journey beyond animation and into your very soul. Its one of the weirdest shows I've ever had the pleasure of watching and the team behind it are absolutely amazing for giving us the show. James Baxter breaths more life into each scene than you'll find in a live action.
Imagine the last not frozen guy in the deer episode you're no My saviour is in a comma and the only other help has gone mad it should have been traumatizing right when the sun went down
I find it interesting how Finn, in multiple lives, looses his arm. It feels strangely karmic how it’s portrayed. Also worth noting in parallel how the Litch also loses his arm, effecting every conceivable multiverse. Any correlation??
Maybe it symbolizes the sacrifice necessary to commit to their extreme ideology. atleast, I'm pretty confident that's the case with finn however the lich could be a coincidence or a surface thought of the writers.
Remember when a Deer broke both of Finn's legs, gave Jake head trauma, kept hostage ALL of the candy kingdom for weeks and they finish it off with 2 bricks to the head and then disposing his body into the waters. Excuse me, this is a kids show, right?
The guy who rejected Adventure Time Must feel like a pure and utter smooth-brain whenever someone brings it up "Hey remember that time you rejected one of the greatest series ever?" "I'll never forget it."
That was my first episode I watched as a kid because that was all they would play on TV. It freaked me out so much, I wouldn’t watch Adventure Time. I’m kinda sad I’m just now getting into it after it’s over.
I watched Courage the cowardly dog as a kid and also Marvelous misadventures of flapjack and Billy and Mandy. Something about unexpected creepy shit being in a kid's show is charming to me in some way lmao.
Man, as someone with red-green colourblindness, the show (and most fans) got it really wrong. We don't see 'green' as 'red', or vice versa. It's just easier to mess up distinguishing between similar shades of certain colours because the red-receiving and green-receiving cones in our eyes are diminished. Hence the name. There aren't actually any forms of colourblindness where someone would mistake a big bright green gemstone for a red one, except maybe total achromatopsia, which Finn probably doesn't have. But, good video, ranting aside lol
Honestly I'm a bit frustrated at myself as I grabbed the assets for the title card and everything while planning the video. However, for some unknown reason, I completely forgot to add it into the script.
@@frank_calvert the title card of the episode "enchiridion" got censored because it was gorey, for what i remember it was finn stabbing and spilling jakes guts out
I normally despise when people think "it was all a dream" is a clever idea, however with Adventure Time, there is an episode in season 4 where King Worm is keeping Finn and Jake in a dream and after Finn shatters the dream at the end of the episode, it is apparent that the setting is VERY similar to a previous episode in season 1 where King Worm was hypnotizing them, which lead many to ponder if they had been stuck in the dream since that episode.
I agree, but I think that the more complex episodes of the later seasons are made very weird if we assume it’s all a dream. Especially when there are episodes told from another character’s perspective/ doesn’t involve Finn in any way. Personally, I find the theory kinda boring.
That theory was disputed by the creators in the episode about Prismo 'is that you?' when Jake made a joke about it and calling it stupid or something.(idk don't remember what he said correctly) I was watching the episode the other day and thought I could point it out.
I like the idea that Finn saved pillowworld from Golb by getting its attention, making it divert its course and follow Finn. That's why Golb even appears in Ooo in the finale, it was following Finn. Likewise, Finn getting its attention directly saved the multiverse because now Betty is Golb.
My personal theory is that Prismo is Jake. Prismos dimension is independent of time so the fact that jake replaces him still works out. This would also explain why Jake and Prismo get along so well. Edit: Just to be clear, Prismo was always jake, as we see him become the old man
Actually, Hunson Abadeer is _not_ visible in the Pre-nothing scene. However, there are a few other interesting tidbits of theory-fodder in it. Especially combined with the last 2 episodes that have come out since this video. *1:* We see Coconteppi, a monster introduced in "Wizard City" after this video was made. Coconteppi was the original power of magic, at least as it is on Earth, and Coconteppi's corpse is proof that the pre-time monsters _can_ die. Caledonius even mentions the Second Age of Terror, which Matthew from "The Mountain" was preparing for. There is a possibility that The _First_ Age of Terror was the age before time and nothing, meaning Matthew might have wanted to either become one of the Monsters or save the world from them. Or it could just mean some time of crazy wildly powerful magic that terrified the Earth. *2:* The monsters are described as being from "before there was time", which means they existed before the Time Room, meaning it is likely that Prismo's Boss is one of those monsters, maybe even one of those we get to see in the scene. It also means the pre-nothing monsters are likely multiversal, which could mean that "nothing" only refers to our universe, and not necessarily the whole multiverse, explaining how the monsters can still exist _after_ there was "nothing". *3:* One of the monsters looks a lot like a tree with some sort of fruit/ball at the end of its branches, sort of similar to what we see in "Together Again" that Death turned into after dying. Maybe this monster was the original Death?
Would this mean he saw fire princess as green and that’s why she didn’t look dangerous to him and he was calmer. Also his grass arm could have looked red or yellow.
I mean, green fire would look more threatening if anything, and it's not like he wouldn't know what fire was to begin with I think it's more a mix of Finn not really being intimidated by much, mixed with him being a good judge of character.
That's not really how colorblindness works... when you're colorblind you don't see things as "green" or something. colors are harder to tell apart. we are all taught colors the same way so, not-so-hypothetically, we could all be seeing different colors. but, non-colorblind people can see a wider spectrum, therefore, see more contrast of colors.
@@mehphala9184 Nah it was a reference to rekindling a failing relationship by having a kid. Tree Trunks is also about to break up with her first boyfriend until he says “LETS GET MARRIED!” The same theme is touched on in the one where Finn and Jake help those obnoxious spiders while they’re trapped in the web. They get back together once their creepy offspring are born and devour Finn/Jake.
Adventure time has always been important to me because it allowed me (someone who spent their childhood inside) to have 11 minutes of each episode where I could pretend I was right there with them, making it so I was able to learn lessons from this show, basic things in retrospect but also things some adults still don’t have a good grasp on. This show is heart wrenching and heart warming all at the same time throughout every episode and every season. There is always something to be learned and nothing is ever just one way
As an OG Adventure Time Fan, This is what we have all be waiting for; a series of relations and correlations throughout the whole show that ties everything together. And you have provided that so Thank You!
Just wanted to say that Martin’s brain injury adds up pretty well, there’s a link between traumatic brain injuries & sociopathy so his transformation into a cosmic criminal isn’t really off base. Even if TBI’s don’t make someone become a full fledged sociopath, it still will almost always amplify toxic parts of a person’s personality
I always like saying that while TBI is definitely part of why he is like he is, it doesn't necessarily have to explain the totality of his personality. the dude was a bit of a scumbag for most of his time it seems, which is why it comes naturally to him. Some mix of emotional trauma from loosing his entire family life, plus brain injury could explain why he doesn't stay with finn or necessarily be good to him. as it's once said "you burn enough bridges, and the only place left to go is forward."
I can’t believe this was your first ever video. I’ve never seen a single episode of adventure time and I found this really fascinating. I wish I had grown up watching it so I could feel nostalgic.
You need to watch it I just finished it a couple weeks ago and it feels like I've grown up with it. Adventure time is honestly such a beautiful story wrapped in a kids show exterior.
I think one of the creepiest parts of the deer is that we never get any sort of explination for who or what he is. All we can do is theories, but we'll never truly know...
This is probably the best iceberg breakdown I've seen. Adventure time is a great example of an upbeat adventure series that's able to carry some real dark undertones. And don't even get me fucking STARTED on The Deer. That episode hit different.
It worries me that it got turned down so many times, like the beetles, cause it makes you think, theres probably been instances of things just as good, but after getting regretted so many times, the creator just gave up
I just thought it was a weird instrument I had never heard in anything else. Would fit with a lot of the weird music in the BGM and title cards (the Dancing Bug song for instance.)
I feel like the fact that Finn has actual real trauma from everything he's gone through effecting him should've been brought up. He has a "vault" he stores his most traumatic experiences in much like how he encountered Shoko's ghost and when Jake says "Sometimes after he'd done battling Finn sits outside for a long time" like how he's self reflecting on how many monsters he's had to kill at such a young age
When the show starts Finn is 12, but he's already famous across the land. So Finn has probably been doing this since he was like 10. For years Finn has been spending almost all day of every day killing monsters, murderers, bandits and other creatures that threaten OOO's fragile societies. The boy has probably caused gore baths a few more times than he'd like to admit.
@@raccooncafe5689 I'll be looking forward to that, Subbed. Btw in your follow-up video you should probably mention stuff like: -Jake's dark side and history -The deer's "death" -Subtle messages in Blenanas(this one was covered by Uncivilized elk but i really think it deserves a spot near the bottom)
raccoon café You also didn’t mention how celestial guardian blood is actually life fuel, turning the corrupted billy skeleton into a big baby Sweet P. There is also a strange relation between pyramids on Mars, Prismo’s time CUBE, Golb, GGGG and things with 4 sides to them, and there is also a theme with the number 5 like Orgalorg has 5 eyes, the blue shapeshifter has 5 eyes... This is hinted at AGAIN in the Elements miniseries where the world is essentially just cut in 4 elemental slices, only to be saved by LSP who broke the elemental harmony, the same LSP who has a 5-pointed magic gem in her forehead. Also, LSP goes on to have a relationship with Lemongrab, another character linked to disharmony and one of the few characters who has 5 fingers on each hand... There is this thing on one of the pages in the Enchiridion called “the harmony of 4”, suggesting that Golb represents a fifth something, which was breaking the harmony and thus was banished forever into a world of void by someone... This “4 means harmony and creation but 5 means disorder and emptiness” is a strange underlying theme throughout the whole series... if you want to make an iceberg category below the abyss, this one might be it. There is also the strange art piece showing Jake inflating after death and making a new continent in OOO (that replaces the big hole in the world)... tough I don’t think it’s cannon. Since we are talking about very obscure things, remember that demon summoned by Peppermint Butler that possesses the body of Cinnamon Bun in "The Suitor." He apparently holds the key to the level eight Shadow Realm and is named Ogdoad, a name related to the number eight... boy, we are back at numerology again.
@@cezarcatalin1406 These are all fantastic! I'll see if I can incorporate some of these into the follow up. Although no promises as it's already been written and recorded.
9:56 in the new fionna and cake series, it was revealed that it was actually prismo beaming the thoughts of fionna and cake into ice king's head. honestly wasnt really shocked at that tbh
I feel like Martian gave up on himself once he lost his son and wife. Knowing that his wife most likely (and did) think that that was his plan the entire time was to con her
The backstory that the lich gives is honestly one of my favorite hypotheticals hands down. "Before there was nothing, there were monsters" I remember being like 13 and thinking "holy fuck thats badass" And the more I thought about it the better it got. Like you cant have good without bad, right? Well this scenario implies that pure evil was the catalyst for literally everything. There are some incomprehensibly "good" things in the A.T. universe, which fits into the whole concept of universal balance. The reason that the good things are so incredibly good, is because their counterparts are the literal embodiment of evil, death, destruction and chaos.

I full-heartedly believe that The Deer is one of the monsters from Before Nothing, along with being one of the Apostles of Golb.
Alright, let’s look at what we know:
- The deer just showed up in the Candy Kingdom one day and began terrorizing the populace.
Why is that stupid deer by far the scariest thing there ever was in the show. Just hearing him mention it gave me chills.

I like how specific Finn got with the DMT facts. He was literally telling PB her subjects were having a near death experience.

@@raccooncafe5689 yo man can you tell me what the song is when the deer comes in?
Man, as someone with red-green colourblindness, the show (and most fans) got it really wrong. We don't see 'green' as 'red', or vice versa. It's just easier to mess up distinguishing between similar shades of certain colours because the red-receiving and green-receiving cones in our eyes are diminished. Hence the name. There aren't actually any forms of colourblindness where someone would mistake a big bright green gemstone for a red one, except maybe total achromatopsia, which Finn probably doesn't have.
This is the same shit with Steven Universe, where Steven is living an alternate life since "Steven and the Stevens".
That theory was disputed by the creators in the episode about Prismo 'is that you?' when Jake made a joke about it and calling it stupid or something.(idk don't remember what he said correctly)
I was watching the episode the other day and thought I could point it out.
In Adventure Time, dreams can affect the fabric of their reality.
When people make the theory "It's all a dream" it's a sign that they can't think of any explanation or can't bother thinking of one

Thanks for this 👍
Nice 👍
Would this mean he saw fire princess as green and that’s why she didn’t look dangerous to him and he was calmer. Also his grass arm could have looked red or yellow.

I feel bad for any kid that didn’t grow up with this show
I was in my late 20s when this show started and I watched it with my kids. I loved it.
I never got to grow with this sadly
9:56 in the new fionna and cake series, it was revealed that it was actually prismo beaming the thoughts of fionna and cake into ice king's head. honestly wasnt really shocked at that tbh
I still find it neat how it was planned a few years ahead of time
I feel like Martian gave up on himself once he lost his son and wife. Knowing that his wife most likely (and did) think that that was his plan the entire time was to con her
The backstory that the lich gives is honestly one of my favorite hypotheticals hands down.
"Before there was nothing, there were monsters"
I remember being like 13 and thinking "holy fuck thats badass"
And the more I thought about it the better it got.
The video just hit 1000 views. On top of that, the channel also just hit 100 subscribers. I can't even begin to describe how thankful I am for each and every one of you who managed to muscle through 22 minutes of me talking. On top of that, you took the chance in watching a video posted by a channel with no previous posts. Rest assured I'm going to use this attention wisely. I'm already workshopping the next video besides the follow up to this video as of today.
Thanks again,
Rey
Edit: 2000 views! Picture everything I just said but x2.
Edit II: 10,000 YALL ARE INSANE
EDIT III: 100K WHAT THE ACTUAL HECC YOU GUYS. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!
Pretty epic Vid good job
Congrats dude its at 20,000 now
Congrats man, 20.000 views, i loved the video
I see we both like gravity falls. Can you do a iceberg on gravity falls?
it's at 40000 now lol, can't wait 2 see ur channel blow up !!
17:55 I always theorized that Finn saw Golb as Finn and the other protagonists as living through Golbs destruction. Finn died in pillow world, on his way back he technically avoided / cheated death. Then he cheats death again by narrowly escaping Golb thanks to Betty
Imagine how the person at nickelodeon who said no felt when Adventure Time became popular
Even if it was greeenlit Nick would have ruined it anyway eventually
"not a lot of ppl talk about this"
*thing everyone knows*
"so marceline is a vampire"
One thing i rarely see mentioned is princess zip. She appeared in the finale as a grey (tree trunks's husbands species) and she's wearing pb's crown. At the end of high strangeness the greys said they would bring the candy life back to their homeworld.
So either PB is dead or takes on a life of adventuring with Marceline
@@leolionheart3982 she actually does take on a life of adventuring with marcy, I believe! I haven't watched obsidian yet but canonically PB and Marcy are girlfriends!
We also know TT hates PB and wants to overthrow her. And PB would probably get sick of the while thing and let them. She already did it before heh.
9:57 We now know Prismo is the one who beams the stories into Ice King!!
I was gonna say that
Watched this instead of making physics homework, just like I used to watch Adventure Time instead of doing chores. Good stuff man :)
thanks! glad i could give you that feeling again lol
Its chemistry to me bro. XD
The deer episode was the most terrifying thing that I watched as a kid nothing else even came close
The part when he broke finns legs was horrifying
The deer breaking Finn’s legs was the most graphic thing I’ve seen until I watched the old Berserk animation
I'm 50 years old, I just watched that episode for the first time like a month ago. SCARY CONFIRMED.
That, and that episode that happened before Oo was founded, the Ice King and Marcelyn travelled together, and the land was full of toxic monsters, I was mostly afraid of their holes
i looked this up one day after it was posted, that’s kinda perfect lmao
ooh very serendipitous. cosmic owl urinal at work if...
Watching this show tripping on shrooms is my favorite thing. I watched 10 hours one night on gold caps, lemonhopes story was a trip and o watched the entire lich/fins dad storyline in one night along with ice kings backstory. It was emotional
best show to watch on shrooms!!
It would've been funny if the vampire king was named "The World"
ZA WARUDO
ZA WARUDO TOKI WO TOMARE
I no expect that lol
Muda Muda
from what ive heard, its cannon that jake is dead in obsidian. He dies within the comics and he grows uncontrollably resulting in him plugging up the mushroom war crater with his own body. It's a really sweet comic strip im sure its easy to google up.
The season 11 comics (where all the post-show content is) aren't canon, according to Adam Muto. It's just what they personally thought happened, and nobody from the show worked on the comics
This isn’t cannon. That was just an idea one of the creators had.
Didn't he die from chocking on a sandwich?
Actually, in that comic strip, Finn is already dead, so if it even was canon it would prove that Jake is still alive in Obsidian.
Its actually kinda crazy, that when youre watching a first episode of a show like adventure time or the regular show, you dont realize that its gonna be so fricking epic and full of misteries
"Finn is in a coma"
The 5000 stories, the secondary characters spin off episodes and together again special: °-°
I imagine surviving the great mushroom war only to be hunted, murdered, and eaten by a magical flying rainbow unicorn
This video is really well written, I didn't even realize it was 22 minutes since you didn't waste time in any particular topic.
The vampire king is 100% supposed to be the wheel of fortune. He literally says it in the second to last episode
17:45 Finn encounters golb because golb is literally death, and Finn actually dies, but since homie has plot armor he just kinda dodges that shi.
golb isnt death tho, death is his own character. Golb is just chaos
@@shaunthesheep5343 True. It is still possible that glob is a part of the process of death, tho.
@@breadboy3792 Maybe the friend to death's son? In Together Again Death's son mentions he was hanging out with his friend or something.
No golb is not death golb is everything
@@orion4622 The friend he was talking about is probably the Lich's hand
this was really the only tv show i was invested in as a kid, i even convinced my mom to get me a bmo bookbag and lunchbox 😭😭😭 i just hope that the show continues to be loved just as much in the future!!
i loved your style of editing!!!!! the way the letters popped in for every layer and the tone shift of the music every time you changed to the next layer was actually so satisfying
Can't believe that a cartoon series can have a story that goes this deep. I have never watched any episode of it, but It just baffles me how much thought process went into this series. My mind is really blown. OMFG
I was looking forward to some deer commentary. Not just “deer exists”. Ik there’s literally nothing on it and it appeared only once devastating the candy kingdom and kidnapping it’s residents, but honestly I’d rather it not be mentioned entirely if the only recognition of it is “oh yeah that’s there. Video over bye!”
my bad, i'll be sure to consider this next time
