    Should do a fishing collab with "Nev's fishing" ! Victorian boy that uses his drone and kayak to catch monster flathead 😍

    I have fished for nearly every species in Australia and there’s nothing in the world that makes me happier other than catching a flathead on light gear, my pb is 86cm & they’re also my favourite fish in general. Thanks for the video 🔥🔥

      @fishingmad  7 днів тому +1

      Congrats 86cm is an amazing effort, ill be heading back in a few weeks and hoping to get one around that size. and I agree it really is a special form of fishing. Amazing species and great to do it in shallow locations with little swell

    Nice fish and super dark in colour. Up here in the Newcastle nsw area unless they are caught up river in mangrove areas they are quite light in colour

    Hi Alan great video!!! Just wondering what brand of plastics you were using

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  День тому

      These were from "On the Edge Lures" the Mullet 100 I belive. Jason has a website you can look up. If not 3 and 4 inch paddletails in whites and natural colours are a great option.

    Gday Alan im hoping you can explain the action used on the white smaller mullet soft plastic, cheers

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  6 днів тому

      Working it slowly by casting, letting the plastic sink to the bottom then slow double hop lifting action and pause for 5 seconds to let it sink again, and repeating the process. I'm heading back that way soon and will endeavour to cover a bit more technique based content.

    Hardest thing about Gippsland lakes flatty fishing is getting a legal fish to eat..... Surprised there aren't more 80cm+ fish there mate?... I found Lakes North arm to Metung is great for 90cm + fish managed 3 in one session on the main channel side of Flanagan's Island... lots of 70 and 80cm fish up shallow...No one there fishing which was surprising... exploring Hollands landing this week and found your channel! ..already nailed 4 over 40cm today with plenty of high 30s smacking hardz...30 fish breamin' sessions no worries in Gippsland Lakes it's a great lake, really hard to go home from here!...great channel great vids....

    So when you state East Gippsland what water way are you 🐟.
    There are a number of waterways in that region.
    An any chance of buying Jason's lures ?

  • @JamieBrooksby-q6q
    @JamieBrooksby-q6q 7 днів тому +1

    Cause I love your Vidal Alan I’m gonna tell you a spot that’s before Gippsland lakes an that is McLachlan Beach. You don’t have to go off sure there’s flathead everywhere at the moment

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  7 днів тому

      Thanks, that's really appreciated. I'll look into the spot. Gippsland is a fascinating area with so many good fishing spots, so always happy to put time into new spots in the region

    I've been in the same situation trying to get the fish to the boat wondering how good my knots are, after what seemed an eternity an 80cm flathead

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  7 днів тому

      LOL I hear ya, before i landed that big one i lost one which may have been bigger boat side. The flattie shook its head and spat the hook, i was shattered.

    Mate just a trick. You don’t need big lures. My PB is 82 caught off 3 inch lure paddle tail soft plastic don’t be afraid to use smaller Lures plus you’ll catch all your nice eating size fish still. Mallacoota is one of my favourite spots. Give that a try mate. I don’t really like Lake Tyers at the moment. Is that where you were? Fishing in this Vid?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  7 днів тому +1

      Yeah, I agree, I've caught some massive fish on smaller plastics and lures over the years, and it can be a lot easier when you're casting all day, too. Mallacoota is unreal. I fished a few times there last year and caught heaps of bream tailor, salmon and a few duskies, but I will venture back that way mid-year again. I appreciate the helpful comments

    • @truthbetold2012
      @truthbetold2012 5 днів тому

      True that I get 80+ fish all the time on 48mm Chubbies and 60mm double clutches got one today on a chub over 80..My PB 110cm came on a 60mm double clutch!...Rarely use anything over 75mm for em'...bit of hype the big lure thing but they smack em' ..I don't think you need em' just got to get it in their strike zone. Yeah Lake Tyers is choked with weed and packed with lure tossers.
