    Great stuff Starlo.
    I’m really glad you persisted and stayed open minded with the bfs.
    I haven’t tried it myself yet, but I’ll be referring back to these videos when I do start.
    Thank you.

    Really enjoyed this, Steve, not so much for the bfs, but your constant casting, perseverance and narration of bream and snags, had my mind wandering to the Scamander River and many countless hours spent fishing for southern black bream. Very therapeutic viewing!

    Hi, Great video, Thank you for continuing your journey, Use the BFS with the Ligun66f for topwater bream and whiting. Its so much fun especially if a random flathead takes you on. Oh Cicada bream fishing is also fun on BFS.

    So interesting to watch the strategies employed to solve the problems he encounters, including testing the limits by casting into the wind. It's apparent the rod and rell need to be tuned for the style... but tyhere's nothing new there. Good stuff Starlo, taking us on a journey to expand your horizons and explain your approach.

    Loving the content Starlo!
    Not to be that guy, but just looking at your cast action with the 2 gram, have you tried a quicker "full action", by that I mean using a sharp back swing, you can use the weight of the rod to create the "load" in the tip you were looking for. Hard to say from here. And I know nothing about bfs, but I use it with weightless/resin head on my ultralight spin. (I could have sworn they were a Squidgies exclusive).
    Anyway, just a thought. Enjoying seeing you challenge your preconceptions around bfs.
    Not sure if you have mentioned it, but what exactly makes it "bfs", is it specialised gear?

    • @StarloGetsReel
      @StarloGetsReel  Годину тому

      Thanks for that. Some interesting thoughts although the sort of snap casting action you mention (which works well with spin) can be a bit problematic with baitcasters and cause backlashes.
      I think BFS is just a trendy term for something a few people have dabbled with for decades, but it’s definitely gaining in popularity.

      @@StarloGetsReel I've been fooling around with a few top water lures, trying to get them to go sub surface for a short distance, try changing trebles, split rings, rigging them backwards (Hooks at the normal tow point, that causes them to dive at the start of the movement)etc, had some success with bream hitting as the lure breaks the surface, something else you might like to try is surface soft plastics, I use a worm hook (appropriate for the plastic) and some of the bigger SP's, they are heavy enough to cast on BFS

      Hmmm. That throwaway comment shows a distinct lack of knowledge on this subject. Actually, Shimano are lagging well behind in terms of the availability of top flight BFS gear, at least in Australia. Hopefully, that’ll change over time, but at the moment many other brands are well ahead in terms of both their ranges and their sales figures on BFS tackle. Probably not a bad idea to have at least a vague idea of what you’re talking about before sounding off on a public platform. Just sayin’… 😉
