Nice stocky walk on the ice. I will freeze to death in that cold, not used to snow at all. Find the Sonar very interesting. I always use hooks with the eye bended towards the curve, 95% effective hooking the fish. Can,t tell you how much I enjoy your fishing and thank you for the effort, tuff stuff in that kind of weather.
Thanks! I really appreciate your support! It definitely takes some time to get used to this kind of cold if you aren't used to it. I find that my hands are the problem. I can dress warm and cover up everything else, but it's very hard to handle your hooks and the fish with gloves on so I tend not to wear them. The sonar is really critical in ice fishing. The fish are lethargic so you have to put the lure right in their face. Knowing where they are in relation to the lure is key. More to come soon!
Thanks, yes I usually take along a square foam pad with a ~ 1/4 in diameter hole in the middle on really cold days. I make a slit from the hole to the outer edge so I can slip the line in and out of the foam pad when I catch a fish.
Yes you leave the bail open with the iFishPro. On one of the hits the line didn't come off the reel cleanly and you can see the rod bend. I was having trouble with that reel and guides icing over so the line sometimes was getting stuck on the way out.
THAT looked like another fun day. I like the idea of a hybrid between those two, as i like the hooksetter but i'm all about the flag! What type of flasher are you using, if I may ask?
I agree with you it is fun to see the flag pop or look over and see a flag up. Really gets the adrenaline pumping! I just rarely get the fish to hold on long enough to get over there and hook them. I'm using a deeper sonar. It's cheap and easy to use but if your phone gets cold and shuts off you are screwed. I am planning to do a video here soon showing pros and cons of this particular device.
I was looking for a hot bite to try out my hooksetters and I guess I found the right place! It was hard to keep up with them. I am allowed 2 rods but I also bought a 3rd rod stamp which comes in handy when I want to set up hooksetters. Thanks for watching!
Nice trout! Good to see the hooksetters are working out for you
Thanks! That means a lot coming from a channel called "Engineering Hooksets"!

@@BackroadsAngling yea im hoping the temps go back down for a few days so I can have the chance again
Nice vid bro ! Stay Motivated 🎣
Thanks! I will!
Interested in what flasher your using, cool little unit, looking to buy one I’m new to ice fishing
It's a Deeper sonar. It's a pretty cool little gadget and doesn't break the bank if you are just getting into ice fishing.
Nice hook setter! Could you add insulated pad over the hole with a small hole in the middle for the line to avoid freezing?

@@BackroadsAngling thanks ! I'll do that too!
Can't really tell if you are, but with the ifish pro you leave the bail arm open and use it like a tip up

@@BackroadsAngling cool!! Hard to see on my phone, love the content and keep up the good work!!
