Beautiful knife Sir , you are to be congratulated . It reflects your wonderful lifestyle in the rivers and forests to a "T". A more perfect honor to your heritage could not be made . Much respect .
Good morning Justin, I'm nursing a my back this am , so figured I'd finally watch ya forge , I really like the bowie. I know alot of folks like a pretty knife or other forgings but Fer me I really like the "blemished look " better I feel it's a more authentic look of time of old , good stuff brother.
That’s beautiful … very interesting that you made it from a scrap chisel blade and I like that bone handle …. And little BROADY was hunting alligators with a mop. … so adorable ❤❤❤
I always make a new one just before hunting season. I guess untill i make my favorite one its a tradition. Maby when i make myself the one i want to carry from now on ill start making one to sell or give away
You are a jack of all trades! Your wife must be proud of you! You remind me of my husband. He is a country boy too. We would love to buy a knife from you! We deer hunt as well but don’t make our own knives. We would love to learn. Thanks for the video!
When i want something new my first thought is can i make it. You can do anything if you believe you can do it. Yes your gonna make mistakes but you learn more from mistakes than from success.
I've made several with 0-1 steel and old sawmill blades but the best knife I've ever had was from the spring for an pld wagon seat. Spring steel is the best. For what it's worth you can melt down used cartridges for brass and I've found that J.B. Weld tops anything for handle glue. If you leave your knife out in the hot sun for a long time epoxy will melt and turn loose. J.B. will take heat, cold, and whatever you throw at it. Depends on a fellows preference but I like a drop point or trailing point. But I do like your Mississippi boxing glove and I bet it'll hold an edge and be a good knife.
@@SpiritoftheOutdoors ever try a file? You can get them red hot and let them cool in ashes. Itll take some of the hardness out. They are hard to work but they make a good blade that will hold an edge but they rust like crazy and they'll snap easy if you put any pressure on them. But with your forge you might be able to work them better. The only way I've ever worked knives was with a torch and grinder. I wouldnt mind having a forge. Did you use the blower from a car heater to set yours up? That'd be a good video.
@@larryreese6146 that blower is actually the vent to our kilns but we have our kilns outside so i dont need them. Im fixing to build a new coal forge out of some 3/16 plate and mount that blower but ill film my dads forge with a hair dryer. It works good too
How much$$ You asking for it??lol,,just kidding. That IS a Sharp lookin knife👍🏼Jim Bowie would be Proud. And Everybody that has any sense. I carry one of them USMC Kabar when hunting and it does good spliting deer ribs,,along with a Buck 110 an assortment of sharpening stones,,I have used it to save ammo like You said. Sometimes cutting the throat is better so as to not spook the whole woods shooting👁 or attract attention from the Hunter next woods over. Had to chuckle at Your Youngun whoopin Gators with that mop🤣 😊,,,i'll be back✌🏼
Man I like that one. When your driving that hot holster on there….could a fellow use a piece of pipe about 6-8 inches long mashed about half flat ? Looks like you could drive it all the way down. I ain’t never Blacksmithed any…just wondering. Good video bud.👍🏻
Wow that is a dandy knife , turned out super !
