When he first started the project, sanding off the rust with an angle grinder, using a wheel of sandpaper that had been glued together, he wasn't using ear protection or a respirator. Definitely not OSHA approved! But, you do you, bud. We all gotta go someday!😂
I've made gurds and pmmels by brazing a blob to the tang in the appropriate places and the grinding to shape... I've done it with stainless as well with a tig
Nice job. I made a knife from a flat disc. it turned out to be a great camp knife. But when researching the steel it had very very little carbon, mollybeium or something like that.. It is virtually indestructible.
Plasma is more for mild or structure steel. Also torch cutting will result in a lot of decaurb, so it's better to leave sacrificial steel margin at the blade edge.
I make lots of knives out of these disc. Use your angle grinder with a thin cutting disc. Works quick.
So happy to see a video from you again!
Thanks for the new video!
Hope all is well haven't seen many videos since this one...
I would like to see a cowboy skillet made out of a plow disk.
Here in NM they weld the axle hole up add a couple of handles on the disc and call them discos and cook on them
They make good comals. My dad has one he calls a wok and cooks probably 50% of his meals.
In the Sonar shack on the sub, a long standing axiom was "If it ain't working, you need a bigger hammer."
Where's those safety glasses when you are sharpening that blade? Safety First!!!

Lovely to see that you're still around and at least healthy looking. I hope you're well. Much love, mate!
What about using muriatic acid to clean rust off metal before starting work?
Do you sell any blanks?…
Know your busy with your new projects ,but great to see you back up an running on youtube
That's a huge flame to attempt a weld. But hey keep er lit big man.
the old disks used to be made of 1084 ag steel (plow steel) I think most companies have switched to 5160 now due to the wear resistance

You don't have a good electrical contact because of the rust. It would probably work if you polished the contact area.
LOL that handle is the kinda ghetto crap I used to do at 13 years old in the early 80's... I used copper wire and plumbing solder LOL
it,s good steel, but try to drip tang holes in it!!
Hammering your plow discs into swords.

are not plow discs a type of "ar" plate ?
Depends but in spirit yes. They can either be a plain carbon steel like a 1070 or a type of boron steel
We call those flap disks
I see the puddin shank has gone through much R and D and looks to be much improved
i dub thee frankinknife...lol
Al gore's plow is missing a blade.

Al gore hates floppy brazing rods.
