Good morning Justin, the bowie knife turned out great, whom ever is the lucky person that wins your giveaway will have a knife with not only a great story behind it, but can be handed down for years n year n years , generations, i really like the look ,the hammer marks , bone handle every imperfections , authentic mountain man's bowie. Great craftsmanship, Justin , prayers for your dad. Ya'll have a blessed day , and good luck to all who shared a video, liked and subscribed, or supported Justin's page . God Bless
Looks awesome man! I showed my wife about halfway through and said "this Mississippi guy took a rusty piece of metal and made a knife out of it" lol. I do a little kydex work myself and occasionally run into those I messed up a little but I can fix it situations.when you were pinning it, I was thinking you could use some Chicago screws like what I use on the holsters I make, but that would be a really long screw. I do think I have seen some handles screwed on before, but I think they usually have a hex head notched out and recessed on one side and just like a round Phillips head on the other they counter sink. I can only imagine how heartbreaking it must be to bust a handle that close to the end of a build
A forged knife is such a work of art with sweat and sometime blood ! I am really impressed by your work ! Congrats on reaching the 5k milestone ! Amazing giveaway, count me in ! Shared ! Cheers
I shared. I haven't been watching your videos for that long I just started trapping last year and when I was looking on how to tan the hides I seen your video about egg tanning. I have been watching your videos since. The knife looks great and I like how you used a bone for the handle.
That's a good looking knife Justin. Hey as I told you before I'm from South Mississippi where do you get your coal from for your forge and make sure I'm in the drawing I shared a video about a week ago and I think I did it right.
I got you in . I ordered the first coal online but i was tearing down a barn when i built my house and found a washtub full of coal in it and im down to a half a bucket full now so im gonna try the tractor supply coal i think
Let me get my process down. I dont have the right width chisel to split it for the eye so i been wingin that part but im gonna do one before long. I love a tomahawk to play with
@@SpiritoftheOutdoors The knives you create are every well made. I enjoy the Process it takes to made a hand forge blade, but the lord’s word and life with your family my wife and I enjoy much. Bless you and your UA-cam endeavors
I'm keeping my eye on you Justin you be sure to do a good job on my knife and remember I'm left-handed just like you love you buddy I hope I win it have a good day
Morning Justin. About to start work watched your video. Good work on the knife. Might call it the worm edition . For Mr. Brody Ps. Hope I spelled his name correctly?
@@SpiritoftheOutdoors I WON THE GIVEAWAY KNIFE ! I sent you an email with my shipping address. Did you get it? Thank you very much and Merry Christmas Season to all.
Liked,,Subscribed,,Shared,,and I really dont need any more knives. I got extras myself and All My Rowdy Hunting Friendz have either died or gave up trying to find a place to hunt. Gonna be a lot Military Surplus/Hunting Gear for Sale at my Funeral Party/Garage Sale🤣
That's a nice lookin' knife, Justin. When I temper I first get the metal red hot and after I quench its just like glass. You drop it, it'll shatter. After I knock the scale off I'll reheat and start watching the colors. When I get that straw color beginning to come out I'll quench again. I want it just a little short of spring steel. Is that the way you do it?
@@SpiritoftheOutdoors I use a torch and oil quench. Don't have a forge. A file will make a knife that will hold an edge. But they're hard to work, easy to snap, and they rust like crazy. You can't beat a good carbon steel blade and spring steel is the best.
If you ever decide to make brass for gaurds you can use spent brass cartridges. Put them in a container and use the torch to melt them in a block. You can cut yourself off a chunk and shape it on the grinder. Bore your hole same size as the steel in your handle and work it to fit with a small file. Any gaps put it in the vice and squeeze it. Make it fancy you can silver solder the gap between the brass and the knife.
I came back to enjoy seeing my knife made again. Thank you.
I may film making the sheath. I just got in a whole side of leather.
Great job. I like the looks of your Bowie knives
Thank you

I have busted one antler handle and a bone handle. You learn more from mistakes than you do from success.

Somewhat . I take a torch and run the colors because my forge is crude and hard to keep the same heat
