    Mussels are so easy to cook once you are not afraid of them. There are many sauces for mussels from Italian Red sauce to French White sauce. How do you feel about mussels?

      I find people that don't like mussels have never had them cooked properly. They can go from perfection to rubber in just a few minutes - or they have only had them frozen instead of fresh. 🍸🍸

    Less is more - my favorite recipe so far. Moule's frites is one of the best things in life.

    I know! Soooo Easy! One of my absolute favorites to eat with a nice crusty bread! Back in the early eighties in Provincetown there was a great place to harvest mussels by the Rock Breakwater. I learned that scrubbing them in the sand while I was there was the best way to clean them! But store bought are already clean! Another Home Run, Pete!

    Peter GREAT. I skip the butter and add heavy cream to which I add a good pinch of Saffron which I bloomed in some white wine. A little Marinara sauce added to the white wine recipe is also on my favored list. Ya'll do some great work.

      We do a lot of that also Hank, but I try and emphasize a basic recipe as a technique that my viewers can build on since many of then are either new in the kitchen or not very experienced. Thanks. 🍸🍸

    I have only had mussels in red sauce. I want to try this. When you always use red sauce, it sort of all tastes like Sunday Pasta dinner.

      I agree, when I see red sauce, I think pasta. Mussels are such a delicate flavor that what goes with it needs to be light. This recipe just begs for some crusty bread to sop up all the sauce that just lightly flavors the mussels - not over powers them. 🍸🍸

      Being from close to New York, mussels in tomato sauce is very common.

      Me too, never had them any other way, but I am not a fan of white wine.

      I just rinse the shells in cold water, and scrub off any dirt or debris on the shells with a soft brush. If there are any stringy bits sticking out of the shell, that's called the beard, and that can be pulled or cut off.

      It is in the same family as clam, but a completely different taste and requires much less cooking time. 🍸🍸
