    I love my Studio Signature! I had used a Fender Concert Amp (made in 1994 or so) for nearly 25 years. The Two Rock gives me a very similar scooped-midrange sound but with more focus and clarity. And the thing is capable of being LOUD! The small physical size is convenient too. 16" wide, 9.5" tall and 10" deep. By contrast, my Concert Amp is 23" wide.

    I hear you regarding owning the Bloomfield drive and still finding cool settings a year or two later. I started out liking the deep switch up on the clean channel with the strat and the mid switch up on the lead channel which I couldn't do at gigs so ended up using drive pedals as my overdrive. I now just discovered bright switch up mid and deep down and putting a RFT tube in V4 and I'm getting an awesome balance between channels and finally getting to use the lead channel more at gigs, changing the settings on my gain pedals to provide different clean/mid boosts for different flavours, sounds amazing.

    Blown away all around. The Bloomfield is my most desired amp hands down. It’s just so hard to take that step to get a $5k amp. I will buy $2500-3k amps and guitars but for some reason those are out of reach. The Bloomfield is just the sound I hear in my head. Can’t wait to have one some day

    Thanks for the video. Well, as a professional working session player for the past 18 years and someone who owned a fair share of tube amps including high-end hand-wired amps before, I would say yes this amp sounds and feels great. However, and honestly, this is just another good clean platform for all sound design purposes. I have an old Hiwatt that sounds so incredibly balanced and yet has incredible amount of headroom that I don't think ANY amp on the planet could compete with it headroom/dynamic wise. Do I say it's the best amp on the planet? Hell No! ... I have a Friedman BE that when it comes to Plexi and Modded Marshall sounds, can't be beaten easily. And needless to say that the touch sensitivity and dynamic of my Friedman is second to none, period. At many settings, even with healthy amount of gain, I can easily go from almost clean/clean sounds to spongy and tight high gain screaming tone with JUST my playing dynamics (not even touching the guitar volume knob). Do I say it's the best amp on the planet? Again, Hell No!
    ...
    I have played couple of Two Rocks and actually recorded with them numerous times. They sound great and unique with their own sonic signature to them. They feel great as well when are cranked a little bit (TBH did not really care for them when they were at bedroom level volume as they can sound a bit stiff when they are low in volume), and they are built like tanks as well. But I would say my Wizard, Friedman BE and DS, Naylor SD60, Komet and Divided By 13 are all wonderful with as much dynamic and headroom as you want them to have, and can be amazing pedal platforms as well. They sound just different to one another and have their own unique tone to them. And I personally cannot ever say one of them is DA BEST amp! It's just absurd IMHO.
    ...
    Now, saying that, being a Marshall/Hiwatt player, personally and in the past couple of years I had phenomenal sounds from my Friedman and Komet amps that I could never, ever and I emphasis NEVER achieve on my Two Rock, and no I'm not talking about super high gain metal stuff. In other words, good luck getting that Bloom/Sponginess and yet tight bottom-end tone and feel of a Friedman when your Two Rock's gain is dimed with a booster in front also dimed. And also good luck getting that Dumble inspired sag and touch sensitivity of a Komet on any of your Two Rock amps. See my point? ... Don't get me wrong though, Two Rocks are great and generally speaking sound very direct, instantaneous with sharp attack which can be tamed with different settings and pedals, but overall, they are just another very good pedal platforms, nothing really magical about them, just like there is nothing magical about any other amps either. Just my two cents.

    Do a lot of other Nashville session guys use Two Rock? I haven't noticed that yet.
    Bill Krinard is a genius. When PBG let him go Two Rock went down the toilet. The new owners were smart to again have Bill design all of their amps. I'm lucky to be Bill's neighbor and friend, and I get to be a crash test dummy for some of his designs before they go into production. I own the 50 watt prototype Bloomfield. Going to Bill's studio is like being a kid in a candy store and it's hard to leave without another amp. Bill's working on new designs that will absolutely be on another level. His mind is always working.

    I suspect that a Gibson hollowbody with P90's (or maybe a Charlie Christian) through a Two Rock Classic Reverb Signature would give me the Kenny Burrell electric jazz cleans I need (despite so many extra watts of power). I tried a Collings Soco with humbuckers thru a Bloomfield which didn't work for my playing, but I think the problem was the PAF style humbuckers. Finding a hollowbody with p90s and a Two Rock in the same store to check out my theory, however, is not likely -- the closest Two Rock dealer is maybe 70 miles, and they don't carry vintage. And another 300 for the second closest, and they are sold out.

    Great vid, great playing, great tone. Thanks! It appears you have hearing protection on when you're sitting next to the amp during the explanations. Just how loud was it in the room with you? I know you probably weren't tracking the decibel levels, but I'm curious. (Would be awesome if there was a decibel meter in the corner during vids like this. :) )

    Greetings from London, great playing and tone as always.
    I’m about to pull the trigger on a traditional clean 50w head or studio signature, would like your info on clean side tone and differences and if they are any better than my two rock bi-onyx head 100w.
    And downgrading from 100w to 50w or 36w, what kind of differences should I expect.
    Regards

    • @coreycongilio
      @coreycongilio  3 роки тому +1

      Hey thx so much! I don’t know much about the Bi Onyx unfortunately. The SS is essentially a 35w CSR. So, quite similar. Higher wattage equals headroom of course. If you’re using high gain pedals or playing stages where this is important, the more watts the better. That being said, I just played an outdoor gig with a 40w TS1 and it was plenty. I’ve used the SS on big stages and it didn’t disappoint either. The thing about TRs is that they just have so much sensitivity and cut through the band. Virtually any wattage works. I will say that I’m loving the 40w TS1 and it’s OD.

    Corey yet another question.
    So I’m gonna pull the trigger on a Two-Rock but I’m torn between the Bloomfield and Classic Reverb. I use a Fender Twin 65 RI and primarily play blues. I’m pretty lean on pedals. My chain is volume pedal - Wah - JRocket The Dude - Fulltone Fat Boost (both always on) - Prince of Tone - MXR Carbon Copy - Phase 90. #1 is an American Deluxe Strat with fat 50’s, #2 Tele with 59 P-90 and #3 Fender Nashville Tele all stock.
    So… which to choose? The CRS or Bloomfield.
    I just can’t decide

    • @coreycongilio
      @coreycongilio  3 роки тому

      I think if you want to stay with more of the Fender vibe, go for the CRS. If you want something different, more aggressive then go for the Bloomfield. You can get the blackface thing with the Bloomfield but you’ll need to turn the mids down a bit.
