I did not see any comments on your LUTs for correcting D-Cineline shots so I thought I would provide a reference for other people who want to know if they are they worth the investment.
9 Euros is not cheap but I am so glad I made the decision to buy the bundle. I was colour correcting some D-Cinelike footage and was having so many problems trying to get things right in Resolve 18. Using the other LUTs I found online, I was disappointed to find just how difficult it is to get the colour/contrast/temperature etc. right.
I installed your LUT pack, reset one node at a time and applied your Normal LUT - just brilliant. I found little else was needed after that.
Highly recommended.
@Col Madden Thanks so much, really appreciate that! 😊
Thanks
👍🏾
tamara sister, you always put out valuable contents. May Allah bless you
Thanks!
THANK YOU! i was beginning to get discouraged but i just knew i was doing something wrong. thank you!
No problem, glad it helped 🙂
Great video!
I have ND16, any recommendations for it settingswise, for a normal sunny day?
Brilliant. I love my Pocket 2. Just needs some ND filters. And honestly haven’t figured out how close I can go to stay in focus
Thanks. Yeah the the Pocket 2 is great. Freewell have some ND filters that you can use with their wide angle lens 🙂
Okay This video has convinced me to buy a osmo pocket 2/Cellphone holder lol and I will have to switch it to Airplane Mode/Do not disturb So that the calls does not interrupt me lol Nice video :)
Haha! it definitely makes it easier to frame up and correctly expose with the phone attached.
Thanks for this great video, Tamara. Absolute newbie here so I'll be making my first cinematic holiday video with clips from the Pocket 2. It's good to know there's a +/- exposure indicator on the screen itself which should tell me if the ND filter I've got is correct. For night time/indoor I will try and get away with 24fps, 1/50 without ND filters. For most of our holiday in sunny Spain, I will probably need to splash out on an ND64 filter 😱
Hope you enjoy your holiday! I'm sure you'll get some great footage with the Pocket 2 😁
Heyy, did it worked? im wondering what settings I should have when shooting night time .-.
The corrective LUTs for d-cinelike footage are gonna be available later this week, so keep an eye out. Channel members get a discount :) ua-cam.com/channels/C-T6bIJfxiBz0V9GdQJDOA.htmljoin
Awesome thanks for this complete explanation. Sorry can u tell us what ND filters brand do u use? Or Do u recommend please
Thanks! :) The ones I used in this video are variable NDs by Skyreat, you can find them in my Kit list here kit.co/TamaraGabrielUK/dji-pocket-2-accessories
whats your recomended settings for shooting in my car driving at night (mostly focusing camera on dashboard)
The D-Cinelike LUTs are now available, so if you wanna have a go at shooting in D-Cinelike for better quality footage, check out the LUTs - they'll help you colour correct your footage quickly and easily; just drop a LUT on your D-Cinelike footage on and that's it, you're good to go! geni.us/6KhaZ
Hi Tamara !
What is template texte animation did you use in this video ?
Tamara, great video! Just picked up the pocket 2 and been so much fun playing around with it. What variable ND do you have for yours, really struggling to find one but will be so much more handy that carrying the different ND’s and swapping out all the time. Let me know when you can, thanks!!
Thanks! The VNDs I used were by Skyreat, but it seems those ones aren’t available anymore.
Great video, thanks! Do you know why the shutter speed needs to be roughly double the frame rate? I don't quite understand the mechanics.
It's to do with motion blur and it looking more natural to the human eye. This video explains and shows examples ua-cam.com/video/2_fwmdHNDFI/v-deo.html
Really good video! Are you using in this video for the Audio the (DJI all purpose handle ?) Because it has an extra front Mikrofon.
Yep, just the audio from the Pocket 2 built-in mics. Apart from when I'm doing the demo, that audio is from my studio mic.
@tamara Hi, how can the same be shot without any filters attached? I am in India and for Pocket 2, we don't have anyplace to buy ND filters from.
Thank you for the video the explainations are really clear. I have 1 question : when it’s not day light we have to change the kelvin for white balance for what number ? Thank you from France
It depends on the light source. If you go into the white balance setting, hit Auto, then hold you Pocket 2 up where you want to film and then immediately hit Manual, it should get you pretty close.
Hey dear thanks for the valuable information .
Keep making good content.
God bless you.
lots of love❤️ #travellingmantra
You're welcome 😊
Hi... Congratulations for tour video!
One question...
Have you a link to buy nd variable filter for pocket 2?
Thank you
Hey, thanks 😊 Yeah, if you go to my kit you'll see some Freewell ones and Skyreat ones kit.co/TamaraGabrielUK/dji-pocket-2-accessories
Hi Tamara, You appear to be adjusting the exposure setting by rotating the filter on he gimbal lens. I have DJI filters and can't do this. What make of filters are you using?
They were variable NDs from Skyreat but they don't sell them anymore, from what I can see.
Do you ever use anything AUTO on the Pocket 2? Great video as always, please keep it up. Thanks from Paris
Thanks! Yeah sometimes.
The fly landing at: 0:50 lol
Hi Tamara,
Since you have the most reviews re: the Pocket 2 I thought you might know the answer to this question. I have my pocket 2 set to normal colour mode. This is mainly because I didn’t want to have to colour grade every clip. But the video produced in this mode always seems washed out or pale and I seem to need to add contrast and or brightening to make it look good. Is there something I am missing here or do I have something set wrong do you think? Thanks for any assistance you can provide. Todd
Hey Herve. Depending on the lighting conditions the normal colour profile can look washed out. There's not too much you can do aside from adding the contrast in post. If you shoot in D-Cinelike you could use the corrective LUTs I created as you don't have to fiddle around with colour correcting the footage yourself, you can just drop the LUT on and it will be done for you. D-Cinelike tends to look much better than normal colour in the majority of situations. With the brightness though, that may just be down to exposure. Are you shooting manual exposure or auto exposure?
@@TamaraGabrielUK Thanks very much Tamara. Good information there. I often shoot with a -.5 to -.1 exposure adjustment. Quite often the skies seem washed out. Maybe I’ll try using D cine Like and check out your luts. I am really not familiar with using those but I’ll check on it. Thanks for your quick reply.
No problem. You're welcome 😊
maam can i use also that settings in walking videos? please reply . thank you maam tamara
Yep, no reason why not
Hi, i noticed theres a 1-5 star rating in the option, do you have a list where the Star Quality belongs to a certain video settings? Maybe thats the reason why i cant take a good 4k60 video because its only 1star. Thank you
Sorry, I'm not quite sure what you mean
What are the best settings for recording at night
Hello Tamara! thank you for this helpful video, I just got my pocket 2, and while looking into nd filter reviews I saw a few people say nd filters scratch the pocket 2 lens. Would you say this is true for your pocket 2? Just curious haha thank you for your time!
Hey 👋🏾 I’ve not had that happen with mine.
@@TamaraGabrielUK thank u for the response! keep up the great content
So if i dont have ND filter, could i used 180 degree rule by set 60fps and 1/120 shutter speed?Hope you can show me the way because i cant buy ND filter.Sr for my bad English
You can, but your footage might still be overexposed if it's a really bright day.
Thank you for your tips!! They've helped me a lot.
I found out that we can't use D-Cinelike with 4K/60FPS. Why is that and how can I go about getting D-Cinelike with those settings? Is there an alternative?
You're very welcome. With the 4K60 and not being able to use D-Cinelike, I think it has something to do with potential overheating. So there isn't really a way around it unless you shoot in 2.7K60, then you can use D-Cinelike.
@@TamaraGabrielUK I see. Is there a way I can shoot in 4K60 and edit it afterwards where I can get it to look like D-Cinelike? I'm new to this haha
Not really. D-Cinelike is a flat profile that you colour correct to make look 'normal', so when you shoot in Normal colour profile, there isn't anything to colour correct. If you want the footage to look less vibrant when you shoot in 4K60, you could reduce the contrast and vibrance in the editing process, but there's not much more you can do.
Definitely overheats with 4k/60. I think I’ll use 1080p/30fps next time so can use D Cinelike mode next time or experiment with the Luts here in Prem Pro and see how that goes
I will be shooting this mode in a remote maasai village kids playing football (soccer) after tomorrow!! Thank you so much! Any recommendations on shooting football game, like best fps for crazy fast moves? Hugs!!
Olekiroshi
Are you going to be shooting any slow motion?
Which ND filter do you use? I mean the one with the wheel to adjust ..
They're variable NDs by Skyreat, they're in my kit list here kit.co/TamaraGabrielUK/dji-pocket-2-accessories
Sorry my english is terrible. I chose pocket 2 after watching your videos. you are the best. I can not decide. I want to buy a freewell wide angle lens and nd filters for shooting on the street. but I'm worried that the lens can make the picture worse. Buying a freewell wide angle lens with nd filter, I will not be able to use the filters separately. what do you advise? Only filters or all together?
The Freewell wide angle lens doesn’t affect the quality of the footage, because the lens is high quality. Freewell also sells individual NDs that work without the lenses geni.us/CcUDz it just depends if you want to use a wide angle lens or not.
The Lut i can used with a Cellphone Adobe Lightroom or photoshop?
Not sure about on a cellphone but it can be done on desktop/laptop with the .cube file.
I love the Pocket 2, but I can't seem to find a variable ND filter for it 🥴
Yeah it seems like Skyreat don’t sell them anymore. But I don’t use mine anyway, I use individual NDs, the ones by Freewell.
Thanks a lot.. the only thing i do not seem to find ist how (or better where) do i change the frame rate in the mimo app??? i cant find the setting...
another "stupid me not understanding" I am in europe, should i set it to 50 or 60 herz? I do not seem to see a difference although i have a windows PC with a 4k monitor screen at 60hz. (but maybe that has nothing to do with it)
Luc
The frame rates are to do with frequencies so each region is either PAL or NTSC. PAL would be 25fps, 50fps. NTSC would be 30fps, 60fps. I personally shoot in 24fps for a cinema type look and then 60fps slowed down to 24fps on the timeline. In terms of changing it in the Mimo app it's in manual settings.
@@TamaraGabrielUK Ahhh i found the settings, and discovered that in 4k60p you cannot change (my app is in german so sorry if i do not have the exact wording) the battery saving mode. not important because i think the results are better. Thanks for the explanation, i thought that pal and ntsc are old standards (got to do with lines on old tv sets..) and that today video standards are obsolete. But you are right, here in europe the electricity out of the plug is at 50hz. so i will stick with that.
Thanks for your reply. I am really learning stuff here.
Luc
You're very welcome 😊
Hi Tamara. If I do not have ND filters and if I shoot mostly indoors, will these settings still be okay? Or is there something I should tweak?
If filming indoors you won’t need the ND filters. You can just use the same settings and adjust your lights.
@@TamaraGabrielUK Great, thank you ^_^
@@TamaraGabrielUK I did but it’s soo dark 😭 any help ?
@nikkigarcia7143 What lights are you using?
is filmic pro compatible for DJI Pocket 2?
I thought Filmic Pro was a camera app for shooting video/photos on your phone?
How can I have a blurry background using the pocket 2 when I am making a video?
As you can’t change the aperture the best you can do is stand as far away from your background as possible ua-cam.com/video/WrVH1iC1sXg/v-deo.html
Which card do you use to record 4K?
This one kit.co/TamaraGabrielUK/dji-pocket-2-accessories/sandisk-extreme-plus
@1:30 So is there no way to set the aperture then? How do you select for depth of field?
You can’t, it’s a fixed aperture
@Tamara Gabriel Re: Fixed Aperture: 😱
Where did u get the nd filters?
Amazon, but they’re not available anymore
Heyy Tamara can I use your lutfile on my Ipad using luma fusion? thanks
Hey, I know a few people have done, but I haven't been able to try it out myself.
@@TamaraGabrielUK Okayy, do you have any advice for shooting indoor/lowlight do i just use the auto setting? since there isn't much light .-. ?
I'm aiming to put a video out next week about filming in low light with the Pocket 2 but essentially you need to use light kits. Keep an eye on the Pocket 2 playlist next week.
@@TamaraGabrielUK I'll be waiting for that for sure, I hope you can do night time footage also, not necessarily in lowlight maybe in the city/street with little lighting so it's not totally dark, thankss
How can i choose which ND to put ?
First set your camera up with your preferred frame rate, and then set the shutter speed to be double, then choose the ND filter. Normally if it's a really bright day you'd need an ND32, maybe even ND64, if it's overcast try an ND4 or ND8. When you put your ND filter on, if shooting in D-Cinelike check that the EV meter reads as close to +1.0 as possible but not over, and definitely not under 0.
have a DJI Pocket 2 camera which is not able to connect to my Huawei Mate 40 Pro . Tried to connect and activate thru DJI Mimo app on the phone several times ,but not successful.
Does any one know who to activate . With Samsung mobile phone it is possible . While trying to activate with Huawei phone, thru the DJI Mimo app, after searching for some time , it says not found.
I tried to connect thru the phone adapter not thru blue tooth or by wifi ( wireless ).
That's odd. My Pixel 2 wouldn't connect wirelessly but did work via the adapter. So your phone doesn't connect with the adapter?
DO you let Noise Reduction?
Do you mean do I apply it in post?
How can I upload the footage, to lets say IG, where the quality isn't compromised? Every time I upload footage to social media, the footage seems to decrease in quality.
What editing software are you using and what export settings are you using?
@@TamaraGabrielUK I just saw this notification. Sorry about that. I'm using the DJI memo app. Any suggestions?
No problem. With the Mimo app I'm not sure how you can ensure the highest quality upon export as I haven't exported videos from it before, I edit everything in Premiere Pro or Premiere Rush. Sorry I can't help. I'll try and look at the Mimo settings for exporting when I get a chance, and see if I can see anything.
my big problem with this camera is the fact that it doesn't have deep field of view blur , like i can't get a focus and a blurry background 😢 , any tips for that ?
Yes: buy a full frame camera
I have never tried the camera on the DJI pocket 2 but I heard that it's not that great.
It think the quality's great for the little camera it is. You can get some really high-quality shots. You just have to set it up in the best way.
Hey, didn't you say d-cinelike needs to be exposed +1?
I find now that it’s better to have it at +0.3 or +0.7 depending on the lighting situation.
Whats ratio this?
Sorry, I don't understand what you're asking...
I don't understand how to access the histogram. It's doesn't show on my phone.
Is it not showing up in the menu in the Mimo app?
@@TamaraGabrielUK Thank you, sweetheart, it needed to be turned on in the main setting. .
Why is your Kelvin a thousand times higher than mine? (At 2:35)
I don’t know what you mean…
Osmo pocket still makes better footage on auto
