Ofcourse it all depends on the particular orchid, but I will often keep the plug for a while, carefully water & wait 4 the proper time, growth indications & season 2 transplant. I find this works well in preventing setback. It all depends on many things, to bring about a joyous ourcome🎉.
It really does . As you say it is better to listen to the plant , it will tell you when is the right time 💯👌
One very good reason to unpot and repot new orchids once you get them home.
You are 100% correct . Happy New Year and happy growing 💕
Hi Peter, do you know when the velamen is rotted and all mushy and you take it off; is the core of the root still able to take up water? Can it work as a kind of wick?
Love your T-shirt. Blessings
💕🫂 thank you and same to you I hope your New Year is filled with beauty and blessings ❤️
I🙏🙏❤️❤️. HAPPY HOLIDAYS 🎉
Thank you for watching . I hope you have a year filled with beauty in all things 💕
Happy New Year! Thanks for this tutorial. I carefully make Some holes in the plug with an ice pick. And remove it after flowering.
Great tip! Thanks for sharing , a lot of people will find it helpful 💯🫂
Brilliant! Thanks so much...
You're welcome! Happy growing! 🌱 Have a blessed New Year 💕
Thank you
Pleasure , most people don't realize this 💯🫰
Thank you ❤
Pleasure , thanks for your feed back we really appreciate it 💕
Compliments of the new year to you and yours, Peter.
I have had to take out a few of these. Thank you for the reminder that sometimes the basic stuff beats the whole lot of complicated stuff we often find online.
Cheers
Thanks sometimes it is easy to forget the basics lol and sometimes I forget a lot of new beginner orchid growers are also watching and they may not be interested in some of the more complicated stuff . Thanks for watching 🫂💕 Have a beautiful and blessed New Year
Joyous🎉
Thanks . Appreciate it 🫂
Just commercial/grocery store orchids or nursery/specialty orchids also?
A lot of the commercially grown Phalaenopsis no matter where you buy them from , you can also ask the nursery staff 👍
Very interesting. I too have discovered this the hard way. I will definitely try the ginger tonic. Happy New Year 🎆
We're so glad this video helped! Thank you for watching and Happy New Year to you too! 🫂💕
I knew about this material they use but I am afraid if I repot it - the orchid could die faster too
From my experience pick the best orchid ( green n firm ) dont water much till the blooms fade then repot ?
That is also a good way to do it 💯 , but sometimes there is a specific colour we want and we have to deal with what we can get . I guess it is all about management of our decisions 😁 Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much, have been collecting a few 'rescue phals' recently, have removed all of them from the pot immediately if in spagnam moss, just purchased one in bark and thought it would be fine, until your video!!! Alas yesterday made up some ginger tonic and removed from the pot today - and yes the enemy plug was in there!! I didn't need to remove much in the way of roots and have repotted in a slightly larger pot, with air holes all round (it was growing out the bottom of its original pot). I do have a question, I saturated the plant with the ginger tonic and waited for it to dry before potting up, I didn't soak the bark/charcoal/tiny bit sphagnum first. How long should I wait until its first water? I have read that you should soak first! Not water for a little while so it pushes the plant to put out roots - so a little confused. We are in Queensland Australia good relevant humidity levels, but having windy days atm, it is inside atm but will be transitioning outside in a few days. Thank you for always posting such informative articles and sharing your knowledge.
Thank you for watching , we really appreciate your feed back and how you are growing as this helps others also learn . If you did not moisten the media then do it now , very dry media can draw moisture from the plant and then you can let it rest and only give it a little ginger spray once a week for a little . Let the orchid stay on the drier side for 2 or 3 weeks or until you see those new root buds growing out . I hope this helps .
@@thenaturecompany thank you 🙂
❤👍
dakujem . Prajem krasny novy rok 💕
Don't delay do this right away
this is the way
Oops. Now I know why mine don’t survive
The bane of my existence!😅❤
now you know so no more excuses 😘
It would make our lives easier if they just removed them in the first repotting right lol
timed obsecence in plant? lol
hahaha there is a conspiracy behind every door 😁
