How dependent on luck is catan? I dont want to waste my time loosing to dice...

you can play around skill, but you cant play around luck. skill-based game
On any individual game, it plays a decent role. But variance evens out over time, and there’s lots of turns in Catan to catch back up if you make the optimal plays. And honestly if you’re worried about this before you even start playing, you aren’t skilled enough for luck to even noticeably negatively affect you. If anything, you’ll get wins because you get lucky way more often than you’ll lose because your opponents got lucky.
If you don’t want dice involved, go learn chess.

I don’t like clay at all. Doesn’t add anything. Promotes a toxic environment. Like he can do whatever he wants but let him do it on his own account
I don't know who clay is, but I didn't like his dialogue in the chat on this game. Makes you look bad. Glad you reeled him in. (Prob wouldn't share keyboard rights with him again tho)
