great game and great video! I'm curious for your opinion looking back at the game @DandyDrew. On the second to last turn at 19:00, you end up playing your knight instead of your YOP to secure army. My question is whether it would have been better to play the YOP to drop a settle instead. My reasoning is: the only conceivable way you lose is if everyone feeds green to build 4 roads and settle at the 3:1 port on the 8 lumber to cut your road giving the longest road back to black (if green has a road builder it's possible). Since it is completely impossible for anyone to catch up to army at this point, but /theoretically/ possible (if incredibly unlikely) someone could cut your road, do you think it's more optimal to play the YOP and drop the settle instead? The only downside is that it guarantees you can't win this turn but makes it stopping you inconceivable. You're so dominant at that point in the game I don't think it matters but curious if you would change your order if you played the same position again.

It's definitely better to play the YoP since you don't know what dev cards others have. You could end up getting plowed with a road builder, which means you have no settle spot and lose road, or your hand stolen with a mono, and you're still always the rob target.
Watched this while I was playing a dominant colonist game where I had paired wood and brick 10's that went off (11 rolls, only the 6 did better with 12). Got it set up pretty early that a 10 was 2 roads for me. Locked up road and never looked back. Sometimes the dice just go your way.

Great video, but horrible blunder playing the knight at 19:00 not taking the settle with your YOP. The chances of you keeping road for the next turn would've been high considering the table wasnt great at working together.

I agree, though blunder is a strong assessment. I would call it an inaccuracy. We are talking highly likely victory vs a guaranteed one.
I gave them a chance for redemption 🤪 Yes, it was careless to leave the settle. Considering the plays and lack of communication it was never a threat. I think against a strong communicative table, my threat detection would be buzzing. I also knew I had a roll + steal combo to win. We all make mistakes.
Nice game! I think you made a mistake on your second to last turn. You should have taken the 8th point with the YOP first because in theory you could lose the ability to settle the following turn but you had pacing to take army guaranteed the last turn.

Funny to see Dandy make some obvious error. At the end he used a knight for 9 instead of using YOP to settle for 8. The settle guaranteed the win on the next turn with taking army. No other players had used two knights…
Me personally I would have played the yop to guarantee my settle as no one can take army in the next orbit, it 100% guarantees the win, as your play was a bit risky, but that game was already 95% done so it doesnt matter that much. GG, a pleasure to watch your video as usually.
I feel like those early 3's really helped your early game, put you in a great spot for the rest of the game
nice game! Red didn't wanna cooperate?! But curious about last devs played Knight before YOP? With wood+brick in hand, playing YOP to settle was guaranteed win in next orbit. Playing knight first not guaranteed win

Personally liked 5611 Wheat wheat wood and 62 brick ore on coast.
Drew, second last orbit, would it have made more sense to yop for settle on 3:1 so your road isnt exposed to be cut by green? In theory if theu worked together maybe could have happened.

I didnt find blacks cut off strange, he slowed your road down and almost won, he made it harder for you to take road away
With the last two turns should you have done them settle then play the knight? It didn’t matter but if a bunch of 7’s had rolled and you ended up with no cards you would have had to go a third orbit after that settle first mean guaranteed victory doesn’t it.
