Jamie: "You shouldn't have to meditate to get your hotness"
made me choke on my drink and laugh out loud XD
I died! 😂
My brother once ordered something at a Thai restaurant, and asked for it to be spicy level 4 (out of 5). The waitress looked him up and down, and said “No, I will give you level 2”. He said it was the hottest thing he’s ever eaten.
Yeah they don’t mess around with spice either lol it’s so good though. Thai curries yummmm.
There is a Chinese restaurant that my son and I go to. I love spicy food. The first time we went, I ordered something hot and the lady taking my order asked how hot did I want it, white people hot or Chinese people hot. I asked for halfway in the middle. It was so freaking hot, but it was amazing… And I swear, the cooks were peeking around the corner to see how the white woman did, and whether or not they had killed me. It was funny.
😂😂
I believe every word of it. I am a Latino living in Texas grew up eating hot Mexican food. The real thing. So hot, your head and ears itch when you’re eating it. I walked into a Thai restaurant and ordered one of their curries and had it spice level three out of five. Holy shit! They are not playing around. That stuff was so goddamn hot, I was scared I was gonna fart myself to the moon every time.
Lol I always get Thai hot a couple times at different restaurants. I regretted that, but most of them I can handle at least until the ring of fire.
Heh.
This reminds me of one time some mates and I were on a student trip to Cambridge, and we stayed at this Indian family. Great people.
One evening they served us curry. And the lady told us, that she had made it mild, so that we should be able to handle it.
Now 2 things should be known here;
1. My mates and I are Scandinavian, and we were Not used to spicy food.
2. This lady was a proper Indian, who grew up in Mumbai, so she knew how to make a proper Indian curry.
The curry tasted absolutely fabulous... And then I started feeling like my eyeballs were begining to melt out of my skull. I shudder to think what she would have considered hot.
It remains the second hottest thing I've ever eaten.
The hottest was a whole raw Habanero pepper... And that curry wasn't that far below it.
Moral of the story; Spicyness is relative too. What you think of as "mild", might be facemelting for others.
When I was in Singapore for a wedding, we went to a couple of Diwali parties and got given “mild” curry. I ate rice, and due to a problem with the plane crew forgetting us, I ate only rice and bread for about 24hrs. Never been so grateful for a McDonalds.
I found it odd the "curry snob" Indian girl couldn't handle spicy
One of my former co-workers is second generation Indian. Who used to eat green chillies like sweets. Curry is in the palate of the beholder.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣that is epic
Im swedish and habaneros are "meh" hot to me. To Rachel his own.
Irish guy calls an Indian Restaurant and says “Please make it hot”, Indian guys hangs up and says, “Vindaloo, “Irish hot!!”” As he makes the air quotes and they all double over laughing. Hahaha! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
You laugh, but i have seen this happen, i have also been the one they start laughing at, and then i lean in and say “no, i want it to where You tap out” and the look of shock, awe, and horror is priceless… as well as how many of them start praying for my “most assuredly soon to be departed backside” haha
P.S. im whiter than Dermot
They should specify “Please make it TRY hot.”
The trick is to ask for it "Indian hot." Works every time.
Always nice when Jamie J wears his Sunday Best.
Dermot is sat on the wrong side. It’s killing me 🙃
I thought the exact same thing. As soon as the video started I thought to myself "I don't think I've ever seen Dermot on that side before"
No, he's been on the right before, hasn't he? Am I going mad?
@@sebastianwilliams6651 nope, I’ve seen Dermot on the right a few times, you’re not going mad 😊
I thought something was off😂
Brooo right i couldn’t deal
Me sitting in India: What the heck is ginger curry??? 🤔🤔🤔
Yeah , forgot all other ingredients that go in a curry
@@captaindelta43 In Uk, mostly Bangladeshis and Pakistanis open up restaurant, they call them Indian restaurant cuz they are too ashamed to use their own countries name, then they will cook weird combos and will call it Indian food!!! That is how Chicken Tikka masala came into existense, a Bangladesh cook who messed up cooking the Butter chicken right, and later called his dish Chicken Tikka masala. Its nothing but butter chicken high on methi!!!!
Same
if they start naming cities that would be hell lot of curries
never heard of vindalooo .... chef do some magic with curry that's how the name came vindaloo ... i guess
I learned SO much on this and had so much fun!
And you learned some new words. 🙂
Handled the spice like a boss. 🔥
I was about to say that Laura and Jaime took this shoot because they seemed like a couple that had just gotten married and were looking forward to life While Bláthín and Dermot were the same couple 30 years later.
But I keep circling back to Saifa's concept of 'white people's curry' her righteous fear of her mother's traditional Indian cooking and how both made me laugh.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏👏
“I’m actually really angry” 🤣 i love when miss Blaithin gets mad at the producer.
so pretty much every vid
She’s the best!
The only reason I have any tolerance for these higher-level spices is because my husband loves spicy stuff, and he *didn't* make me jump into spicy food first thing - I've had nearly seven years of us being together to decide what I like!
My husband loves stuff so spicy it will burn your face off. I’m allergic to peppers and many spices. 15yrs of super hot boy and the bland girl😅…
“You shouldn’t have to meditate…” Brilliant. 😂
“That’s the most ridiculous statement I’ve ever heard in my life” SENT ME 💀
She was wrong for that. Ginger does help with some ailments. She didn't like any of the foods, she was terrible.
She sounds like some Americans who get trggrd when this channel says "American" food and it's really an Irish version of American food. 😁Now she knows how we feel.🤣
@@delta9571 Yeah I think Callyanne meant it was hot and hearty. Something substantial that would satisfy a sick person. Saifa was a bit abnoxious.
When I hear Vindaloo I immediately think of Lister on Red Dwarf.
Bláithín: "I love ginger."
Me: _Raises hand._
Jamie and Laura- love them together! And Callyann's enthusiasm is always great to see. 😁
I love Dermott and blaith
I love Callyann's enthusiasm at 5:38. She's a hundred percent all in! Rock on, Irish girl!
When Dermot and Bláithín were trying to come up with a song for Vindaloo I was hoping they might adapt ABBA's Waterloo ...
There are a lot of places that don't serve the really spicy versions unless they know they're not going to come back 10 minutes later complaining it's too spicy to eat. You really have to convince them to give you the truly spicy ones.
Yeah, my favourite Thai restaurant tells most people there is mild, medium, and hot- but they only tell certain people there is also a 'Thai spicy' option.
A friend and I went to a local Thai place quite a while ago. He ordered Pad Thai and asked for 5 stars of heat. Five minutes later the owner/cook came out and said: "You don't want 5 stars! _I_ don't want 5 stars!" But 5 stars he got. My garlic beef was 2 stars, and almost too hot to eat. (but absolutely delicious) He finished his meal sweating, but said he wouldn't order it that way again.
I just went to a Thai noodle shop like this. They gave me a side of chili and were surprised by how much I added.
A Thai place in my town has a "No return if you ordered it too spicy" policy
@@coasternut3091 that's exactly the kind of policy that will get me to order there.
I love when you all do Spicy, Drunk, Gross or Painful.
Everyone gets real honest and it’s just a crack up ❤❤
Laura and Jamie are like the type o negative blood of Try, they work with anybody, so to see them work together is so pure 😭 GO TEAM
Nice pairings - both couples have some real “old married couple” vibes and the galpals are fun too. A good week ender - thanks!
Saifa's hair....couldn't handle the hair nearly (or maybe even in) in the food. Grossed me out.
I'm convinced Laura and Jamie need their own show. Always hilarious together. They have the best chemistry.
Totally agree - the same with Dermot and Clisare
Agree 💯
Saifa and Callyann bounce off each other so well
“You like eating ginger?”
😁
Whenever I hear the word 'vindaloo', I always think of Lister from Red Dwarf, hahaha!
Oh my God such memories., I wish they would bring the show back
@@arnoldsherrill2585 I know you'll appreciate this: I was shopping today and saw a display of toasters with the company name in embossed letters on the side: SMEG
"Would you like some toast?"
@@sarahp9086 oh my God that's funny you made my day thank you very much
I have often wondered what a reboot of Red dwarf would look like maybe one day soon we'll find out., I just hope they don't crash it like they did Doctor who, with the 13th Doctor. That was the television writing version of The towering inferno, without the great cast, writing, special effects or music to match
Just a bonfire
in absolute silence
vindaloo is a goan pork curry dish
basically means wine and garlic
I love Thai curries. I've only been able to try it once, but I had a spicy orange one with carrots and potatoes and peanuts, and a drunk noodle. I mixed em together and ate em and then drank the rest of the curry. It was hotter than I thought they'd let us have, but it was so sweet and tasty I had to finish it. Ate it in my car (because of the lockdown) in the winter with no heater, and had to leave the windows down on the way home. 😋
In conclusion, their disappointment was immeasurable and their day was ruined.
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
I always chuckle when the wonderful guests use the word "Homely" in a positive way. In the USA, "Homely" has a negative connotation and is typically what you call someone who is quite ugly---as in "they should stay home so no one ever has to look at them."
There is a restaurant here(Ontario Canada) called Taal, authentic Indian food. My daughter introduced me to it. OMGoodness I love the spice!
Most Indian restaurants outside of India are UK style Indian.
I recommend Grace of taj if your ever up Barrie way, lovely family owned restaurant, beautiful and delicious food.
If you’re in TO, try The Biryaniwala in Scarborough.
@@tony_25or6to4 run by nepali pakistani and bangladeshi people
@tony_25or6to4 Ontario Indian food culture does its own thing. I have family in the Toronto suburbs as well as London, Toronto does Indian food (especially punjabi and South Indian) justice. Similarly authentic to Indian food in South hall.
Another amazing video from you guys!!!
Bravo! and THANKS!
I used to go to a Sri Lankan joint where your waitress cautioned you that your order WAS available in medium and hot versions. I accidentally walked into the kitchen once and saw all these bags of spices that looked like they had been shipped straight from Colombo (the capital of Sri Lanka}. There has to be a similar arrangement in Dublin.
Do another shoot of 'under the table' curries.
🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏👏
@@Shebeast3 I 'm serious. I didn't realize something as innocuous as a paper sack could look something out of a Hitchcock film.

What an amazing start!!! First second with Dermot just .... LOL. Then at the 25th second he just smiles and grins ..... GET THE RED PAINT AND JUST PAINT HIM RED!!!! Then seeing Laura and Jamie as a pair ... well, i would like to see who gets red as a beet the fastest. White cream curry?!!! Nice pun.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Welcome Safia. A lovely new addition to the try channel
This was FUCKING HILARIOUS! I had to watch it TWICE! Love you guys, and love this channel! I watch faithfully!!❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely love the hard rook music for this video. First time in a long while that the music matched the food vibe of the video.
I'm 65 years old and have never had (or seen in person) curry. I've heard that curries can be pretty fiery and I'd like to see you tackle Norwegian cuisine which can hit pretty high on the blandness meter. A lot of Norwegian foods that made it to the USA were poor people foods. They're a part of our history and, because of that, we'll trot them out at special times of the year. Lutefisk could probably stop vindaloo dead in its tracks. A few other favorites are lefse, fattigmann, torsk, rømmegrøt, pickled herring, and fruit soup.
Nothing bland about rømmegrøt! It's delicious! That sour-sweet-toasted-floury flavor with butter.... Only about 1000 calories a serving!
@@paulfeist It is wonderful!!!
Ohhh interesting! Please explain to me this concept of fruit soup?? Is it served warm?
@@gemmydoadance1593 It can be served warm or chilled. If you reduce the amount of liquid used while cooking it can be used as a thicker sauce on ice cream. In some recipes alcohol may be added to give It a little kick. There are many recipes on line if you would like to try it but even so you may be tempted to try your own version.
I'd honestly try all of those, they seem fascinating to me. But what stopped me short is "fruit soup" 😂
1:14 : "When you are sick in the hospital".
Give them a Vindaloo and they'll be out of bed in no time. 🤣🤣🤣
I love having worked at a wing place, my spicy taste buds were fried out years ago.
I can eat real India/Mexico/Szechuan level spicy, and actually enjoy it.
What about Korean?

Aloha nou,
I love these videos so much.
Thank you all for untold hours of enjoyable disconnect.
Something comforting about just having the ones I’ve seen already in the background while I’m going about my day around the house.
Jamie, Way to hold it down with the spicy. Love the ink.
Mahalo to all the TRYers, u all have brought a lot of aloha to my life😊❤
ps: lemme know when u ready for some real poke bowls. U might have to stop by the Hale though. 😉
Callyann @ 5:34? She's too adorable I can't imagine her not being an infectious ball of energy and Laura and Jaime? Love them together omg
Vegetarian curries are good too. You should try shahi paneer, veg kolhapuri, palak paneer(spinach), dum aloo (potato curry), dal makhni(lentil soup), chickpea curry.
All I could think of through this was Irish Jesus shoveling Phall curry into his face and then IMMEDIATELY squawking “I regret my decision!”
Now I know what a perfect 10 is AKA Callyann B.
Good video...really love the background music!
5:40 I'm afraid the chicken said "no," my friend. Hahahahaha. Epic!
As a Midwestern Yank who has only had curry maybe four times in my life, this looks really good!
It makes me sad that you can't really get a good curry over there so much...but I'm also sad that we don't have proper Mexican food. We have Taco Bell and similar places. That's about it.
@@VampiraVonGhoulscout I’m in the Chicago suburbs, and I will say that several Indian restaurants have opened around here in the past 15 years or so. I just forget about that option since, as a 56 year old, I am in a bit of a rut! Mom and pop taquerias are a dime a dozen and always a good option for fast food, alongside the Chicago hotdog/Italian Beef joints.
Really, comparing ethnic food options in the suburbs to what I grew up with in the 1970s is night and day! “Ethnic” back then and there was usually Italian. I didn’t even have semi-authentic Chinese food until I went to college in a big city (I thought my dad’s homemade chop suey was “Chinese”!). Thai restaurants were only just becoming popular when I got my first job out of college in downtown Chicago in the late ‘80s, where there were at least five in a ten minute walking radius of my office building. I think my favorite discovery was in the mid-1990s- Tunisian food at a sadly-briefly-open restaurant in one of the city’s neighborhoods. Even my current boring suburb (which has lots of Russian immigrants) had two Uzbek restaurants until Covid knocked them both out.
@@kathyastrom1315 Next time when you visit an Indian restaurant, make sure the cook is from India. These Bangladeshis and Pakistanis cook up abomination in the name of Indian food.
As a Brit I'll always feel blessed for the amount of curry houses we get to have here, usually Bangladeshi and Indian. I used to absolutely hate spicy food as a kid but as I've grown up I've come to love madras the most out of the curries. A solid 4 out of 5 on the spice level and absolutely delicious.
Callyann and Saifa together in one video?! Perfection

I'd prefer MaryAnn.😁😁
I love making my own curry!
Wonderful Weekend, Guys, and a Blessed #StirUpSunday...
I've never met a curry I didn't like. Fave food ever. Here in South Africa we have access to all kinds. Indian, Cape Malay, Indonesian. I love them all.
Was it laundry day for Jamie?
Ppl suffering thru really spicy foods and I’m here for it!
I think the Tryers have leveled up. Dublin's going to need some Goan restaurants.
You all need to have your own travel size hot sauce bottle. It’s saved me when “ spicy” wasn’t spicy enough. 😂
loving the music!
I love spicy vindaloo curry!!! The vindaloo I had wasn't mild at all. It was fire!
The last restaurant I worked at, we made Madras curry and it was one of the most popular dishes. But it wasn't all that spicy. Not being a curry or spicy fan, I only ever tried a little bit, and it was quite good.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!! TRY CHANNEL CAST!!!!!!! 🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🔥🤣🤣🍺

You should get Safia's mum to make you hot food for comparison, as it seems this Indian takeaway didn't do itself justice lol
If I'm sick and in the hospital, I'll have a serving of Callyann.
As a South Asian Brit who often has to hear my white friends talk about good "spicy" curries and "naan bread" when I know my mums cooking is so much better, I felt Saifa's pain to my core 🙃 the way she just gave up on the first one is how I often feel when we go out for team meals 😅
All my favorites in this shoot

I wouldn't even know where to get curry. I don't think anyplace exists within 50 miles of me. Looks delicious.
"....one of the hottest curries in Dublin!" LMAO That's about like saying "This is one of the roundest potatoes in Ireland!"
When I was a massage therapist I had to ban any of my clients from eating curry 48 hrs prior to treatment. Smelly bellys
It doesn't affect me negatively, but I don't eat the super spicy stuff
I think that probably comes from people who's digestive tracts aren't used to it. I basically always get away from silent toots.
I would of eaten curry 12 hours prior and stunk up the place just because you tried to tell me what i can eat to be honest.
@@JamesonTimothyDempsey-Brown wasn't me. Complaints from the other clients coming in afterwards. Couldn't get the smell off me or out of the room. I used to get vindaloo often from my local food court, then one time I got one from a proper Indian restaurant, not the ones for us 'whitey's'. Damn that was hot! But it was also tastier, you could taste individual flavours and how they combined. I might get it mild next time to get the 'hot' level of the food court, but so much better when made properly! Although a good butter chicken or korma from the food court is a great comfort food, even if it's nothing like the proper ones. Each has their place.
Puts fork down. "Do you like eatin ginger"? YES MA'AM!!!
LOL reminded me of the episode of Eastenders when Dot ordered really spicy Curry Take Away and she ended up with Curry tummy 😂

I am the whitest person I know who is not afflicted with Albinism. Trying to get an asian/mexican place to believe me when I say I want spicy is... A chore:D I once had to send something back TWICE in one sitting because they thought I would wimp out on them... The first time I literally could not taste anything spicy! The second time it came out it was... About the level of a weak jalepeno? The third time you could see about 20-30 Sichuan peppers chopped up in it, and I thanked them for finally making it spicy enough:D
Next time I came back over a year later, they apparently still remembered the ghost white kid who actually DID want it as spicy as he said:D
Dermot changed into different shades of pink between curries.
Mmmm, spicy curries are one of my fave things. Rogan Josh is at the top of my list for curries.
Can someone feed Dermot spicy food and then tell him peanut butter helps with the heat? Haha 😂
I have Madras curry powder to make from scratch, so, my go to. I've had vindaloo, it's OK. I've never heard of phall. But it's the season for it, right?

Vinalo as in Dave Lister from the Red Dwarf BBC Sci-fi Comedy series. Curries are Dave's favorite foods I think.
I can only tolerate light curries like Korma and Butter Chicken, which are great the way they are without too much spice. I'm allergic to the chilis that make a lot of curries spicy, pretty much right away I'm hovering over in the fetal position!! 😉 But a mild to medium curry is really nice.
