I thought of a whip class and it’s just basic because I don’t know how to balance stuff So basically you press ZR the will whip go out and press ZR again to pull the whip back doing an ink splatter in the process if ZR is not pressed to pull it back and reaches its max range it will go back without doing any damage or splat A cool mechanic is timing. If you pull the whip back at the perfect time at the end of its peak range, a mega splat will appear probably doing a one shot
Love the splatterboards - would like to see more skateboard inspired ones considering the skater aesthetic that permeates Splatoon - but absolutely adore the idea and hope something like that happens. it's funny you mention that, there was a Reeler class in development that utilized a main Reeler head that can split in two, and combine into one- designed around bottlecaps that resembled a yin-yang sign, and were controlled/handled like nunchuks. they would twirl in an "8" shape around the user, and didn't alert enemies when Slink attacking, (being stealthy.) but i ended up canning the idea due to it being too complex- i only want to introduce the basic mechanics of Reelers, and not confuse anyone who watches these videos with too much complexity. Same thing for the Splatterboards. i had another Reeler that was based around a huge ball of yarn that travels really, really far that deals a lot of damage at first, but unrolls into a smaller ball of yarn the more farther you use it, dealing less damage the more farther you make it go. I also had a Splatterboard called the Hadalboard that started slow, but sped up the longer your surfed on it- you can see it at 0:55, (i forgor to remove it)
Oh i sooo wished this was real! i love the idea of slinking and itd be incredibly cool to imagine what kind of plays you could do with the weapon class. not to mention slinker weapon class fanart would probably look sick!! Why doesnt this have more views?!?!?!
Ngl, the boards are kinda bad. The entire class cannot paint any distance away from you at any point so your options for taking fights are... die I guess? Do some sharking and hope for a kill? The brushes get away with their high speed because they are evasive and nothing outruns them so they can escape and reposition when pressured. Not to mention that brushes can actually actively attack players when push comes to shove as opposed to turning away from you opponents a couple of times. Whichever way the boards work, the kill time would be abysmal and the lack of range means you can't punish. The only way to make them even usable would be to make riding almost as fast as swimming which takes you from mild annoyance to average annoyance. Image the best case scenario: you flank around and get the drop on a charger, turning and spraying them for 40 damage and painting their feet. What then? You're not facing the enemy you want to attack, you're moving away from them, it would take 2 additional splashes to kill and by that point they've already killed you, escaped to their teammates or jumped away. The entire class is just brush but you can only roll unless you sharply turn
I really like the yo-yo ideal, it really fits splatoons style, and also reminds me of a boomerang. If I could add a new weapon class, it would be scepters. Magical wands that cast spells that inflict very little direct damage, but can create large tentacles or whirlpools from surfaces they strike. Similar to a fizzy bomb, wiggling around charges it faster.
balancing aside (7 seconds to charge up any attack is atrocious, 2.5 seconds on grizzco splatana is bad enough, also some of the damage on a lot of these seems very low), these concepts are pretty cool. the counterweight system has me very confused, though. also unsure of how it would work with spinning this weapon at an angle from yourself. or if you could do that at all. also, i know many have said it, but no base attack on the surfboards make me feel like it would definitely suit a special more.
Spellbook: tapping will instantly shoot a shot of ink at the cursor, doing small damage while not putting any ink on the ground, this will place down a small unbreakable mine on the ground, holding the fire button detonates them, creating a wide and high range explosion that can surpass any ink mine explosion in everything except it's reveal effect, up to 5 mines can be placed, after that the spellbook's tap fire will be turned into a fireball attack which explodes on contact, it has about the speed of a player swimming without any buffs or debuffs, you also get a pretty witch hat for equipping it, regardless of what headgear you currently have Urchin series:a modified spike bat that's been made to siphon power from its user's ink supply, this has a melee combo attack which will reduce ink damage, making it so that if your enemy is alone, it's nearly impossible for them to escape you, and it also has a dodge roll similar to the dualies, this weapon's combo gets faster and it creates an ink slash that gets longer the more kills you get, this weapon's main weakness is being overwhelmed Reproshot: this works like a normal shooter, even stealing some design inspiration, but the fire rate and damage is lower, and when an ink shot hits the ground it has a chance of coming to life as a little squid/octoling minion, which will lock onto the nearest enemy and has an actual ai, attempting to dodge bullets and even sneak past it's targets, on contact it'll do a small amount of damage which is fine by itself but dangerous when combined with your damage
As much as I love the idea of the reelers, a slinking charge time of anything above 3 seconds is insane, let alone 7 seconds for just a mere one person kill. You can deal 100 damage in less than a second with a splattershot, 52 or any old shooter and almost all other weapons would wreck the measly 180 hp in no time. Even standing still for 3 seconds is crazy (because I feel like slinking is a more aggressive option for seeking kills and the weapon would want to paint the enemy base) because 3 seconds is so much time for someone to kill you in splatoon. I don’t want to take a dump on your idea but the slinking times are a bit too unbalanced in my opinion. Otherwise, fantastic concepts I genuinely love them :)
Really cool video. All concepts are super unique and cool and would fit into splatoons weapon roster well. I think it would be cool if you could make a little visual for the weapon ink like for the boards, have a side by side comparison of there ink trails and splash radius (I know it would be a lot of work, but it would be super cool to see the weapons in action because of there unique play styles). Super cool concepts, hope Nintendo see this and they hire you to help them because you have real talent and skill to make this detailed concepts of not one but 2 weapon classes, but also make sub classes for them.
I would say, overall decent balance, but the main thing I saw were the charge times. Some were pretty long, especially considering the fact that they hinder mobility and you can charge while in ink. Even not being able to attack for even three or more seconds is very harsh, considering ing the fact that most weapons would be able to splat you if they have decent aim, and excluding the decreased mobility. The kits are ok, but I would rethink some of the sub weapons, the splatterboards all have bombs, which are ok, but with the constant ink consumption of surfing and the jump and tide attacks, probably won’t be used (beacon would be valuable to get in really fast and disrupt everything out of nowhere). For the reelers it begs the question, do subs cancel the attack? It might be a downside, but nonetheless I would change the subs all for the Gulpers Reel and the Keelbreaker 400. Point sensor on a short range weapon seems sort of useless, and for the other torpedo might be too strong, and Record Reeler I’m on the fence about because beacon would be good for a backline, but it doesn’t have the equivalent of a chargers tap shot for close range self defense because the counterweights are gone, so a burst bomb might be good. There are probably other minor things I could address those would be the main things I would change, I don’t have really any problems with the specials (minus reefslider on the shoal shaker which I like but also don’t like if the because it would be a problem if the reefslider gets buffed, and it seems kind of like the Tide attack which isn’t supposed to be there, so triple inkstrike might be a good replacement for that).
while i do admit that the charge times for the Reelers are unbelievably high, (especially for the Keelbreaker 400, at 7 seconds,) one thing to keep in mind is that the Keelbreaker's slink attack has really, really, far range- being able to oneshot(140.0) an enemy far away with a projectile that will auto-aim has the potential to be absolutely broken, so i exercised caution and made it an attack that puts the user at an equally vulnerable state. i won't really know, since i can't playtest these weapons, so i was harsh with the charge times. after all, i feel like it's better to introduce a weapon that's underpowered rather than overpowered- underpowered weapons can slowly be buffed with just a few value changes. overpowered weapons being nerfed will receive much more scrutiny from the community.' really loved the analysis on the kits and design of my reelers and boards!
@@greztrez2366 Ah I see now, it makes much more sense. In competitive, it would be the main point of the team! And yes, I agree, underpowered weapons being buffed are better than the alternative. And, your welcome, I like giving feedback, especially to concepts this cool.
The ideas are so fun! with what seems like good reward but also hard punishment. The illustrations are also nice and are way more pleasant then other weapon idea vids.
I had an idea of a yo-yo based weapon but the idea was a sub bomb yo-yo that then throwing by pressing the R button again it would arc down allowing it to curve around walls and splat snipers or other backliners that are trying to charge behind cover which if hit indirectly would deal burst bomb indirect damage while if it hits then directly it would deal around Stringer direct amount of damage, the inking proficiency would be small but it would take splat bomb worth of ink, also it would probably explode as soon as it hits a target or a surface.
I had the idea of a spear/staff kinda like weapon, where tapping ZR would do a inaccurate slash forward while spreading ink like a Slosher, and holding would charge for a more powerful straight shot a bit like a charger (IDK if any of that made sense) also will you do more of these cool videos? Edit: the spear itself would do melee damage if you hit a shot like with a vertical roller flick.
sounds like an odd fusion of a splatana and a brush weapon. not sure if it could be it's own thing as it doesn't use ZR in a unique way. would probably work better as a subclass for either a brush or splatana, (which we both need more of tbh lol.) as for your second question, yes, my next video will be focusing on how Big Run should be reworked, to be an event that players will enjoy just as much as Splatfests, so hopefully it won't be a long wait until then ! if you have any ideas for that, just let me know and i'll put them in my next video if it's something i think is cool !
I LOVE both of these concepts. Both the presentation and the base ideas are very solid. I worry about if they'd actually be on par with other weapons, balance wise (Boards seem even easier to hit than an inkbrush and have a slower kill time, and those Slinking charge times are very slow) BUT!!! That's not really the point of this video. It's to share fun ideas!! And these weapons sound sick as hell! Nice job! :)
brushes, squelchers, nozzle noses are some notable ones some that are situational are splatans, stringers, sloshers, chargers, splatling, since they have a charge sometimes you have to tap fast to kill if you cant charge in time, lightweights dont really count like mini, and bamboozler. Possibly reeflux
I really like your ideas and creativity. All the attacks feel like they fit the class and are different enough from stuff we have in game. Its really fun to imagine riding around on a board and doing these quick tricks that spray ink around. My only criticism is that I feel like you are packing so many different things into a single weapon. It just gets overly complicated for people to strategically use in a fast pace setting. I’d say a weapon really should have more than 2 different attacks.
Great job on this video! I can tell you put a lot of thought and effort into designing each new class. I really liked the concept for the splatterboard class and would love to see either one of these classes being added to Splatoon 3! :D
Both of these weapon types are such cool ideas I can't put everything I want to say in one comment. Absolutely awesome ideas, especially the splatboards are my favourite.
I think the designs are all really cool, but how the weapons work doesn't really make that much sense im splatoon's context; they are all very overcomplicated to use, have a lot of functions, and some of them wouldn't work in a real splatoon match because they are really overpowered in concept, but so tuned down in damage and function that they are very couteratttack-able or easy to dodge/prevent. I think splatterboards would make for a really cool special if buffed, though. A highly mobile kraken-like slayer, with a slow activation time, 1-shoting with all of its attacks, a re-call like zipcaster, and the ability to wall-jump or make the jump attack more mobile than just normal jump. I think It could better work like that, because if not, it would play a lot like a roller that needs to roll over people to do damage and doesn't 1-shot. Idunno, maybe it'll work just fine and I'm being paranoic...
I distinctly remember suggesting something similar to revelers, except it's more a hybrid of the dualie and splatana classes. Basically, shirukens attached to yo-yos. Just glue Scrub Daddy sponges to the sides of a butterfly yo-yo, and there you go.
I think the record reeler should have extra ink coverage since it has really low damage and can’t slink. Maybe the record stack could twirl out extra records, all at different distances to cover the most amount of turf.
They all are good ideas! The “KAHUNA V6” not having a jump attack is not the greatest thing, but it can combo off the splat bomb so I suppose it’s allright. Overall really nice. We need new classes 😔
What a great video! I really like the designs of the splatterboards and reelers (the Kahuna V6 and Reelcaster being my favorites) and both classes of weapons seem fun to use. The presentation of the video (i.e. the music selection, the demos explaining how the weapons work, and the art) was also phenomenal, so great job with that too.
these ideas are fantastic!!! creative, silly, and fun! feels like something you'd see in the game for sure. I hope more people come across this video :))
i keep coming back to this video i think about the surfboard one allll the time, i dreamed it was real the other day lol!! these are so well thought out i can see them and my minds eye and wish they were in game, thank you for making this!
I really like both ideas, but I would use the reelers more personally. I had a minor new weapon idea recently, where a giant juice or milk carton would act as a combination of a splatling and a slosher, but yours are so much better thought out.
i really like the idea of the reeler, id maybe make a few tweaks, mainly i’d have tap zr to launch it in front of you and hold zr to twirl it (and have the twirl locate people in a very small radius like wave breaker) . i think it’d be quite good with burst bomb and it could be a very strong melee weapon.
reelers sound useful for glowflies I imagine some of the lighter ones especially would have to retract parts if they hit something, or slow down slightly
I wish we got a weapon class based on flamethrowers and things like spray cans, maybe called “Sprayers” or smth Edit: found the idea I made for this **Sprayers** - A weapon class that's based mainly around flamethrowers which are used for chipping at players and smoking them out. These weapons would have large tanks on the user's back next to the normal ink tank. Most sprayers have an initial startup when they start spraying ink, but they cover the entire area of the aiming reticle. Sprayer weapon types: **Graffiti Spray T-93 - Sprayer** - The most basic sprayer weapon, it's a mid ranged sprayer weapon with a medium-large hitbox that is capable of forcing players out of areas. The damage this weapon deals per second is low, however, so it isn't awfully overpowered. It has about the same range as mini splatling, maybe a little less range, and has about a second of start up which it shoots out ink as it gets to its maximum range. The Graffiti Spray T-93 has a midweight weight class, and is pretty mobile. It also is very good at covering turf and is capable of painting walls very well. The name of this weapon references graffiti as well as the T-93 referencing the Type 93 flamethrower which was a flamethrower that originated in Japan, and the way this weapon looks would also reference the Type 93 flamethrower's tank on the back as well as a spray can for the main weapon. **Sting-Spray PSI - Sprayer** - A sprayer weapon based on the Stingray from Splatoon 2, turning from a special weapon into a backline sprayer weapon. This weapon is far ranged and reaches a little farther than a splatterscope, and has a much smaller hitbox than the Graffiti Spray T-93, while also dealing more damage per second. The weapon lost its ability to have a shockwave and pierce through walls, and instead the weapon has agained a fall-off part of its spray which allows it to reach a little further, though dealing less damage. This weapon does not fire as it starts up, and has a bit longer of a start up time than the Graffiti spray. The Sting-Spray PSI has a heavyweight weight class, and is not very mobile due to it being a backliner. It's pretty okay at covering turf, but because of its smaller hitbox compared to the Graffiti Spray, its usage for covering turf isn't that well and is better for creating straight paths of ink. The name of this weapon references the Sting Ray while combined with Spray, along with the PSI part referencing Pounds per Square Inch, the units used for Water Pressure. Since the Sting-Ray is based on a pressure washer, this weapon is also based on one.
great ideas, actually. though this might just be me, but i'd like to hear more details about your weapons, like mobility, turf coverage, ink efficiency, damage values- stuff that makes the reader/viewer actually get a concrete idea of how it would function in game. it's a great start, but it's got a long way to go. more variations of this weapon class wouldn't hurt :)
I'm not entirely sure how ink efficiency works in splatoon, and damage values might be hard to think of since it acts very differently from other weapons, but I can definitely add things like mobility and turf coverage to the existing weapons! I've been thinking about more possible ideas for sprayers, but I haven't finished them exactly and I'm trying to think of names. I currently have: An Aerospray rework idea that makes it work like a reverse ballpoint in a way. It would have an initial starting burst spray that has a good amount of range and a fast killing time, but would change to a mode that has better turf coverage and lower range (Either a wide spread spraying or maybe just the old aerospray). A sprayer that gives a DoT effect when hitting people, causing people to be damage even after being out of the spray, and would be the most like a flamethrower in that sense. I'm not sure if this should be a backliner or frontliner.
Added some descriptions for mobility and turf coverage, but I'm not sure if I should put it in a way that's more like stats in splatoon or in the way I explain it on the descriptions already.
@@greztrez2366 Returning to this, I wanna remake the ideas with more details. Do you have any ideas for how to describe things such as ink efficiency for it?
I had the idea for another type of splatana for Splat 3 (or 4 even) that would be based off of a tennis racket. It would be called the splashracket. Basically like a splatana swiper but fires ink almost the same way as the explosher? Or a rapid blaster in a way… But not rapidly (same consistency as a regular splatana)
@@NebulaeKraken I was thinking normally it would look kinda like a cutlass when uncharged and when charging you open up the scissors and snip when you fire it
(comment 3/3) [this one is very long. sorry] here is a weapon class i though of: i call this weaponclass "jetcans" pressing ZR makes it spraypaint. it is a primary fire without projectile. firing the weapon doesn't take Ink from your Ink tank directly. it takes it from the Pressure tanks next to the Ink tank on your back. depending on which weapon you are using, you usually have two pressure cans. If both pressure cans are empty you can refill them by pressing ZR again. but make sure you are safe since refilling them takes time, can't be canceld and completely emties your Ink tank. but the pressure tanks are not the main gimmick of this weapon. pressing the shoot and swimm button at the same makes a rocket (or paintcan without cap) emerge from where you are swimming. once fully charged you can "ride" this rocket even through enemy ink.(you are under the rocket in swimm form) if you crash into any obstacle or enemy the rocket explodes. Firing a rocket uses up one entire pressure can on your back. YOUR ROCKET IS AN EASY TARGET WHEN CHARGING AND FIRING THE ROCKET. IF YOUR ROCKET GETS DESTROYED YOU ARE SPLATTED the diffrent weapon types: (no names yet) splat type: pressure cans: 2 esplosion: 120 dmg overall speed: standard note: none -------------------------------------- heavyweight type: pressure cans: 2 rocket costs both pressure cans. firing the primary fire afterwards consumes ink from your Inktang direcly explosion: 190 dmg (and bigger explosion) overall speed: exept for refilling pressure, very slow note: the rocket has more hp than normal. Crashing into the first enemy splats them, but doesn't explode the rocket. the second enemy explodes the rocket. unlike other types, you can still fire your primary fire after you have used your pressure tanks, however it has RIDICULESLY high ink consumtion but slightly higher damage. i am talking like firing for half a second before you use up your entire ink tank. ----------------------------------- lightweigt type: pressure cans: 3 explosion: 70 dmg (and smaller explosion radius) speed: exept for refilling it's very fast both in startup and endlag. note: higher damage primary fire compared to other types, however your rocket is VERY fragile. one shot from any weapon is enough to splat you. ------------------------------- special type: pressure cans: 2 explosion: 100 speed: above average note: you can steer the rocket very well. you can almost zigzack with it. it also has slighly more hp and lasts longer and farther.
im 2:35 into the video, and the Tide Attack makes the splatboard sound like if reefslider was more of an active special than a "pop it and run away" special.
Surfboard seems a little too strong. It would be a cool special though. You could even split it in two: Normal Surfboard gets buffed and the Kraken comes back and the wave Surfboard becomes it's own special. The Yo-yo is very cool though. Reminds me of the puppet master character trope in fighting games. Weird how all the shooters I know don't have this type of character though..
(comment 2/3) here is the "special" weapon that i though of: In splatoon 4 i want the pool noodle to be a special weapon. To be precise a continuation of zipcaster. The special weapon consists of the pool noodle and a grappling or fishing hook. The hook works the same as the as the zipcaster special, just that it has the range of a close range shooter but less lag. It does not deal damage just by itself nor does it paint. However if you hook a enemy whilst you are airborne, you pull the enemy right to you into the air. Where you can hit them with the noodle. Wach out tho. You are vulnerable when doing that. The pool noodle has the hitbox and damage of the splatana stamper melee attack but without the forward dash. The attack also doesn't have a projectile and It barely paints under your feet. But it does however leave ridiculous paint in the direction you are facing if you splat someone with it. the extra paint is to help snowball a little more when using this special. But what seperates this special from its predecessor the most is that **whilst you have about half of theduration than the original Zipcaster, you can slow down or even stop the special timer by swimming**. this makes it so that you can almost play this special like a normal weapon. but the biggest question is how to use it effectvely since you have very limited time and can't use your sub weapon nor Paint at all. besides that you still have to be carefull where to zipcast to without getting Splatted.
splatterboards should have like different surfing tricks you can do based on an input with the left stick while you press b, kinda like street fighter, the different tricks turf differently.
I love these concepts. I think you went ham with high charge times, but these are so cool i wouldn't mind putting up with it if they were in the game. Where they belong. Nintendo, hire this fine lad !
Splatoon veteran here, I LOVE THESE IDEAS SO MUCH I'm sharing this vid with my friends and then probs gonna draw some of your designs with my characters!
Great googly-moogly take my money please. I have longed for the days of kraken to return in a more balanced fashion. I like how fresh all these designs are and they even fit the style of weapons we might see in the game. Way too cool. Really well thought out.
So literally 5 seconds into the video and I have a very strong feeling that you play terraria. The yoyo on the thumbnail and the sulfur sea theme just gave it away.
I think the charge time for the yoyo is to slow. It takes 1.5 seconds to charge the eliter. I'm also not sure about the surfboard, mainly how retreating works with the corner attack. The corner attack would basically be useless if it always gave the enemy a chance to recover
Me personally, I'd probably main the reel caster, the dragon one, and the record reel. It'd probably take some getting used to, but they would probably find their way into the competitive scene as high risk, high reward weapons.
i think that the splatterboards should have a attack where it shoots out a slow weak ink blob that would be used to ink walls or something because it cant really do that
I'm not sure about the Boards mainly becuse they might prove difficult to play against for newcomers, Reelers on the other hand I've been thinking about myself, I don't agree with the full rotation aspect since there's little aiming involved instead have it do an arc infront of the player more along the lines of a sideway Slosher, Ontop of being a Yo-yo I think the class should also draw inspiration from Shurikens... However let's keep it more simple in concept, Tapping allows for rapid but short range swings while holding offers more range but takes longer to return
these sound very fun but they also sound more like specials than weapons to me, theyre very complex as well and seem like theyd need an entire tutorial to learn how to use, so the way you use them would probably have to be simplified a lot
Cool conceps and a the balance is very good, but feel that they have a Lost of mecanis, that wuoldh screar casuals and be very time consuming learnig. But they are not bad the wace attack can be a nice and cool special
I like the yo-yo idea but it may be too complex The idea of slinking out the yo-yo and having it then charge and dart towards an enemy could be done differently though If holding ZR sends it out and has it stay & spin in place, then you move while its stationary and charging (+ swim), once you release the button it will zip back across you and keep going past, dealing high damage to whoever the yo-yo hits, that way you set things up like a trick & position is what you aim with instead of direct aim or radial stuff. then normal shots could finish off the opponent and it would probably just be something simple like a forward pass, inking the ground below it like a fizzy bomb does. Using movement as part of the attack may make it feel like doing trick shots.
the splatterboard would work way better as a special with all those options of movement and attacking and the reelers is just a bad idea altogether, a yoyo class is a very interesting idea but I don't think the homing of the slinking attack is good or the charge time being that high, also the counterweights defeat the balance of spinning it close to you or not and i think that damage could be added to other more direct attacks, I think a better idea for a yoyo weapon class would be for it to work more as a lasso, you charge it you throw it and you have the ability to pull things towards you, and since when you charge you spin it above you that would deal damage around you too while you charge
The reelers are cool, but the splatterboards just seem like a brush that can't go into tap mode, and can only attack with movement and i just think they wouldnt work
If there was a yoyo class it would be the only weapon I would ever use

How doesn’t this have more views?
This. Is. Amazing!!
Oh i sooo wished this was real! i love the idea of slinking and itd be incredibly cool to imagine what kind of plays you could do with the weapon class. not to mention slinker weapon class fanart would probably look sick!! Why doesnt this have more views?!?!?!
This is just like ninjala! And I love these concepts! Good Job
Similar to a fizzy bomb, wiggling around charges it faster.
underrated af
i feel like the splatterboard could be more like a kraken special rework and the art in this is rly good ^^
the splatterboard class entirely, or just the Shredtail 360 splatterboard ?
@@greztrez2366 i think that any of them could work as a special besides the shoal shaker
balancing aside (7 seconds to charge up any attack is atrocious, 2.5 seconds on grizzco splatana is bad enough, also some of the damage on a lot of these seems very low), these concepts are pretty cool. the counterweight system has me very confused, though. also unsure of how it would work with spinning this weapon at an angle from yourself. or if you could do that at all. also, i know many have said it, but no base attack on the surfboards make me feel like it would definitely suit a special more.
Spellbook: tapping will instantly shoot a shot of ink at the cursor, doing small damage while not putting any ink on the ground, this will place down a small unbreakable mine on the ground, holding the fire button detonates them, creating a wide and high range explosion that can surpass any ink mine explosion in everything except it's reveal effect, up to 5 mines can be placed, after that the spellbook's tap fire will be turned into a fireball attack which explodes on contact, it has about the speed of a player swimming without any buffs or debuffs, you also get a pretty witch hat for equipping it, regardless of what headgear you currently have
Urchin series:a modified spike bat that's been made to siphon power from its user's ink supply, this has a melee combo attack which will reduce ink damage, making it so that if your enemy is alone, it's nearly impossible for them to escape you, and it also has a dodge roll similar to the dualies, this weapon's combo gets faster and it creates an ink slash that gets longer the more kills you get, this weapon's main weakness is being overwhelmed
Reproshot: this works like a normal shooter, even stealing some design inspiration, but the fire rate and damage is lower, and when an ink shot hits the ground it has a chance of coming to life as a little squid/octoling minion, which will lock onto the nearest enemy and has an actual ai, attempting to dodge bullets and even sneak past it's targets, on contact it'll do a small amount of damage which is fine by itself but dangerous when combined with your damage
There are probably other minor things I could address those would be the main things I would change, I don’t have really any problems with the specials (minus reefslider on the shoal shaker which I like but also don’t like if the because it would be a problem if the reefslider gets buffed, and it seems kind of like the Tide attack which isn’t supposed to be there, so triple inkstrike might be a good replacement for that).
while i do admit that the charge times for the Reelers are unbelievably high, (especially for the Keelbreaker 400, at 7 seconds,) one thing to keep in mind is that the Keelbreaker's slink attack has really, really, far range- being able to oneshot(140.0) an enemy far away with a projectile that will auto-aim has the potential to be absolutely broken, so i exercised caution and made it an attack that puts the user at an equally vulnerable state. i won't really know, since i can't playtest these weapons, so i was harsh with the charge times.
after all, i feel like it's better to introduce a weapon that's underpowered rather than overpowered- underpowered weapons can slowly be buffed with just a few value changes. overpowered weapons being nerfed will receive much more scrutiny from the community.'
really loved the analysis on the kits and design of my reelers and boards!
@@greztrez2366 Ah I see now, it makes much more sense. In competitive, it would be the main point of the team! And yes, I agree, underpowered weapons being buffed are better than the alternative. And, your welcome, I like giving feedback, especially to concepts this cool.
The Reelers sounds really fun to play and use, now this makes me wish they were Real weapons in Splatoon 3 or 4 😞
The ideas are so fun! with what seems like good reward but also hard punishment.
I had the idea of a spear/staff kinda like weapon, where tapping ZR would do a inaccurate slash forward while spreading ink like a Slosher, and holding would charge for a more powerful straight shot a bit like a charger (IDK if any of that made sense)
also will you do more of these cool videos?
Edit: the spear itself would do melee damage if you hit a shot like with a vertical roller flick.
sounds like an odd fusion of a splatana and a brush weapon. not sure if it could be it's own thing as it doesn't use ZR in a unique way. would probably work better as a subclass for either a brush or splatana, (which we both need more of tbh lol.)
as for your second question, yes, my next video will be focusing on how Big Run should be reworked, to be an event that players will enjoy just as much as Splatfests, so hopefully it won't be a long wait until then ! if you have any ideas for that, just let me know and i'll put them in my next video if it's something i think is cool !
that sounds a lot like a splatana to me tbh xD
I LOVE both of these concepts. Both the presentation and the base ideas are very solid. I worry about if they'd actually be on par with other weapons, balance wise (Boards seem even easier to hit than an inkbrush and have a slower kill time, and those Slinking charge times are very slow) BUT!!! That's not really the point of this video. It's to share fun ideas!! And these weapons sound sick as hell! Nice job! :)
I love the idea of a yoyo class! I really hope they never introduce any mashing controls again though, they are *horrible* for accessibility.
I mean there's like 4 weapons that need quick tapping at most as far as I'm aware
brushes, squelchers, nozzle noses are some notable ones
some that are situational are splatans, stringers, sloshers, chargers, splatling, since they have a charge sometimes you have to tap fast to kill if you cant charge in time, lightweights dont really count like mini, and bamboozler. Possibly reeflux
@@forrest6939 The squeezer is the problem imo
Or splatoon 4? 👀
as a dynamo roller, I would 100% use the Kahana v6
literally all these ideas and weapon variants are amazing and you should be hired by Nintendo.
The splatter board sounds awesome! One comment though, the wave should be a special exclusive to only it and maybe rollers
these are so cool i hope the devs get this creative for future weapons! also the presentation style and music in this vid is top notch (*´ω`*)
Amazing and quite realistic for splatoon aswell
I had a minor new weapon idea recently, where a giant juice or milk carton would act as a combination of a splatling and a slosher, but yours are so much better thought out.
i really like the idea of the reeler, id maybe make a few tweaks, mainly i’d have tap zr to launch it in front of you and hold zr to twirl it (and have the twirl locate people in a very small radius like wave breaker) . i think it’d be quite good with burst bomb and it could be a very strong melee weapon.
reelers sound useful for glowflies
I imagine some of the lighter ones especially would have to retract parts if they hit something, or slow down slightly
With the splatterboard, I feel like the tide attack should be a special. Everything else is literally PERFECT :0
I wish we got a weapon class based on flamethrowers and things like spray cans, maybe called “Sprayers” or smth
Edit: found the idea I made for this
**Sprayers** - A weapon class that's based mainly around flamethrowers which are used for chipping at players and smoking them out. These weapons would have large tanks on the user's back next to the normal ink tank. Most sprayers have an initial startup when they start spraying ink, but they cover the entire area of the aiming reticle.
Sprayer weapon types:
**Graffiti Spray T-93 - Sprayer** - The most basic sprayer weapon, it's a mid ranged sprayer weapon with a medium-large hitbox that is capable of forcing players out of areas.
I have like two ideas for this, imma see if I can find them and paste them here
Edit: I have.
great ideas, actually. though this might just be me, but i'd like to hear more details about your weapons, like mobility, turf coverage, ink efficiency, damage values- stuff that makes the reader/viewer actually get a concrete idea of how it would function in game. it's a great start, but it's got a long way to go. more variations of this weapon class wouldn't hurt :)
I currently have:
An Aerospray rework idea that makes it work like a reverse ballpoint in a way.
Cant wait to see more of your content the art and music choices create a great vibe
I love the idea of reel caster. I would definitely put the time in to master that weapon so I can main it.
I love the concept of the reelers!
This is insanely cool. The weapons are really creative and also really well designed.
I really want a splatana based on scissors
@@glitchingeclipse9850 Hmmm how would those work? Open and close to shoot ink or just look like scissors? 🤔
@@NebulaeKraken I was thinking normally it would look kinda like a cutlass when uncharged and when charging you open up the scissors and snip when you fire it
@@glitchingeclipse9850 Ohhh that’s cool
I REALLY love this concept
(comment 3/3) [this one is very long. sorry]
here is a weapon class i though of:
i call this weaponclass "jetcans"
pressing ZR makes it spraypaint. it is a primary fire without projectile. firing the weapon doesn't take Ink from your Ink tank directly. it takes it from the Pressure tanks next to the Ink tank on your back. depending on which weapon you are using, you usually have two pressure cans.
IF YOUR ROCKET GETS DESTROYED YOU ARE SPLATTED
the diffrent weapon types: (no names yet)
splat type:
pressure cans: 2
esplosion: 120 dmg
overall speed: standard
note: none
--------------------------------------
heavyweight type:
pressure cans: 2 rocket costs both pressure cans. firing the primary fire afterwards consumes ink from your Inktang direcly
explosion: 190 dmg (and bigger explosion)
overall speed: exept for refilling pressure, very slow
note: the rocket has more hp than normal.
-----------------------------------
lightweigt type:
pressure cans: 3
explosion: 70 dmg (and smaller explosion radius)
speed: exept for refilling it's very fast both in startup and endlag.
note: higher damage primary fire compared to other types, however your rocket is VERY fragile. one shot from any weapon is enough to splat you.
-------------------------------
special type:
pressure cans: 2
explosion: 100
speed: above average
note: you can steer the rocket very well. you can almost zigzack with it. it also has slighly more hp and lasts longer and farther.
im 2:35 into the video, and the Tide Attack makes the splatboard sound like if reefslider was more of an active special than a "pop it and run away" special.
I think the tide attacks are a bit too powerful but I'm not like a expert in game balance. Anyways loved the video!
I would main the Kahuna V6 or normal splatterboard if they came to the game.
absolutely banger video, love the concepts! but i feel like the splatterboards would work a bit better as a special
Tbh I feel some of the boards and reelers can work in some of the rank modes in splatoon 3 it definitely will be fun to play around them.
omg this filled my head with so many ideas i need to make my own reelers right now!!!!
VERY COOL!!
(comment 2/3)
here is the "special" weapon that i though of:
In splatoon 4 i want the pool noodle to be a special weapon.
Nintendo, hire this fine lad !
if the turfboard isn't turned into an actual thing, it'd make a fantastic mod.
And just imagine... _dual yoyos._
the fact that i instantly thought about terraria and you started playing calamity music

Way too cool. Really well thought out.
thanks! the splatterboards definitely got some inspiration from the Kraken special from S1
Bro just took ninjala 💀
can't wait to use C=2πr to find the circumference of a reeler's attack in tower control
I would 100% use the record reeler. It looks so fun.
The surfboard Sounds more like a special than a weapon class bit its a cool idea
Subbed =)
I also had an idea for a whip weapon.
I think some of the slink charge times are a little long, but what do I know, I don't use chargers, just this ballpoint splatling.
So much quality in this video
So literally 5 seconds into the video and I have a very strong feeling that you play terraria. The yoyo on the thumbnail and the sulfur sea theme just gave it away.
the surfboard is a cool idea but would be absolutely useless and outclassed by a lot of things
I think the charge time for the yoyo is to slow. It takes 1.5 seconds to charge the eliter.
I'm also not sure about the surfboard, mainly how retreating works with the corner attack. The corner attack would basically be useless if it always gave the enemy a chance to recover
I feel like the splatter board would work better as a special, but still a cool idea nevertheless
Me personally, I'd probably main the reel caster, the dragon one, and the record reel. It'd probably take some getting used to, but they would probably find their way into the competitive scene as high risk, high reward weapons.
Both of these ideas are great! This is so creative! (But really needs more balancing 😅)
I had a dream where there was a weapon class that were shoes that squirted ink from the bottom and you could kinda skate and boost around
i think that the splatterboards should have a attack where it shoots out a slow weak ink blob that would be used to ink walls or something because it cant really do that
splaterboards feel more like a perfect substitute for kraken in splatoon 3. The yo-yo's instead seem to be very fun and adds a new kind of gameplay.
The death screen for the splatterboard should be “flexed on by splatterboard” that would be funny
I like the yo-yo idea but it may be too complex
The idea of slinking out the yo-yo and having it then charge and dart towards an enemy could be done differently though
If holding ZR sends it out and has it stay & spin in place, then you move while its stationary and charging (+ swim), once you release the button it will zip back across you and keep going past, dealing high damage to whoever the yo-yo hits, that way you set things up like a trick & position is what you aim with instead of direct aim or radial stuff.
then normal shots could finish off the opponent and it would probably just be something simple like a forward pass, inking the ground below it like a fizzy bomb does.
Using movement as part of the attack may make it feel like doing trick shots.
i want teacup dualies, they are basically mini sloshers that allow you to parry in a curve
I feel like the splatterboard would need to be toned down a bit to work as a main weapon, it feels more like a special with how you described it
this new yo-yo weapon idea reminds me of Kirby's yo-yo abilitity
1:31
R.I.p the people 🥲
the splatterboard would work way better as a special with all those options of movement and attacking and the reelers is just a bad idea altogether, a yoyo class is a very interesting idea but I don't think the homing of the slinking attack is good or the charge time being that high, also the counterweights defeat the balance of spinning it close to you or not and i think that damage could be added to other more direct attacks, I think a better idea for a yoyo weapon class would be for it to work more as a lasso, you charge it you throw it and you have the ability to pull things towards you, and since when you charge you spin it above you that would deal damage around you too while you charge
I love sm the gulper's reel i need it added in the game rn :(
Funny I thought of a concept of rollerblades and introducing a kicking melee style weapon that shoots ink
everything else for the splatterboard is set up for a normal weapon, but the tide should be a special imo
I like the concepts a lot. But Nintendo would have to do some serious balance changes as, especially the reelers, these seem really OP
What I want are some rubber gloves with sponges filled with ink, gauntlets sound awesome
Watch these be added and only have one type at the end of Splatoon 3’s updates and have 50 shooter variants
Ngl if the Reeler could bounce off walls when going forward, it would be the perfect class for trick shots
I feel like splatter boards would be a special but good video anyway!
petition for the record reeler to make music as you twirl it, creating rhe music notes
The reelers are cool, but the splatterboards just seem like a brush that can't go into tap mode, and can only attack with movement and i just think they wouldnt work
If I new how to mod games I would have try to put these in the game because there that good nice job.
