This was a fantastic tips video. So many are just repetitions of the same few obvious hints. This actually goes into depth, covers what to do, why it matters, and how to pull it off. Very well done.
Hey I've been playing this for a while now. I know you made this a couple of years ago so things may have changed but here's a few things that I discovered. There may also be different settings between systems. I use the quest2. 1) Pistol Whipping - Hit them hard, hit them soft, give them a love tap, I still get the full 800 points. If you get less than that you may have shot them once or twice and already got points for those shots. 2) Dead eye - Great for target practice and for sharpening overall accuracy, but will not affect your position on the leaderboards, because there is a separate leaderboard for each combination of modifiers. If you use a combination of modifiers that nobody else has, you create a new leaderboard and you are the first one on it. That's why I love doing contracts. It changes things up. I'm pretty much doing everything at hard level by now. Full Throttle is the only one left I have on Normal. Still working on it but those damn walls get me a lot. Mostly A's but I got an S in a couple of the scenes. Mainly duel wield just because it's so much fun. The Nest I broke top 50. Proper D is great! There's this other guy LSToast, don't know if you've seen him or not. He's like a duck in water. How I improve - Start out in threatless mode. Develop your shooting style and choreography and stick to it. Don't try so hard to shoot them before they shoot you. Let them them fire their shots and dance around it. Think of it more of a rhythm/dance game and less of a shooting game.
Wow Mac, thanks a lot! Came here to just see some gameplay not expecting much. But man, these are some really awesome in-depth useful tips that i never heard anyone talk about before! I can't wait to finally play this later this day on PSVR! Will definitely make use of your tips!
I've been trying to reach the number 1 slot on black magic (easy) and have come to the conclusion 212,808 is the highest score possible,,regardless of which modifiers are used,,this puts me in joint first place score wise,,but still number 2 on the leaderboard,,hope that makes sense,,,great video btw,,
Great video! Very informative! I started a couple of months ago. I do all the classic ones on hard but normal for everything else until I get better at it. My best standing is 183 in High Priestess. For hard mode, RU afraid at 659, for Lilith - 803. What's been helping me is at first practice using non-shooters (threatless mode) to acquaint myself with the scenes and develop shooting choreography. Then practice in bulletproof mode so you don't get eliminated if you screw up one too many times, then when I'm comfortable, without a net. To be honest, with this and all rhythm games, I would much more enjoy watching someone play at a lesser difficultly with a good groove going rather than somebody struggle to complete hard mode, but that's just me. I got one gameplay video on my channel. I might add another today, if you got the time to waste. I would like to practice using dead eye but not at the top of my list.
As far as I'm concerned, #7 is slightly wrong. You get 100 points for being on beat within 150ms. You're either on beat or you're not. If the score is red, you got 100 points for on beat. If you're not, you get 0. There's no in between. The remaining 100 points are for accuracy. It depends on how much the aim assist had to help you. If your shot hits for 200, you were on beat and had no help from aim assist. 101-199, you were on beat but weren't perfectly accurate. 100 white, you were perfectly accurate but off beat. 1-99, you weren't perfectly accurate and you were also off beat. Great tips though!
Tipp for all PS4 players: If you struggle to get S rank for the trophy (picking 1st level): Obviously, shoot to the beat. But: Also try to aim very well, dont just shoot from the hip and abuse the aim assist, you will get less points. If you go for the no-ammo or the no-enemy-hit trophies, always rotate your head clockwise - this is stressfull but works :) Great video. Just got my platinum trophy!
@@MacInVR I have only played PS VR since I am Playstation-only. But I think the move controllers work fine for casual purposes. Perfect-score-hunting maybe not so much :)
I used -31° angle in pistol-whip cause I was tired to shoot at the feet of the enemies in pavlov shack and then came onward on occulus quest.... Now I am shooting in the sky😅 why onward doesn't qui a choice of angle like pistol-whip do👿 I wish pistol-whip was asking extra point for head shot... Good vid 👍

I learned the dodging "trick" when I decided to go for the Pacifist achievement. Super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Being a pacifist is tight
@@TheHappyKamper yeah, yeah, yeah.
the feeling when you get that achievement is TIGHT

Wow....2 years ago? Pistol Whip was a channel staple back then but I haven't played for ages 😉

Stoked that you enjoyed the video, don't forget to comment once you've played. Tell us what you think of Pistol Whip? It's my favourite game 😀
Dude. This was excellent!
Thanks mate 👍
Weeey thanks for the mention buddy, and very very nice. You be grooming a league of assassins! 😱
I just wish I could use Deadeye ☹☹
Wish there was a Pro mode for this game which means that all enemies are in sync to the beat and you get a +50 extra score
Very nice. Subscribing. Just got the game 4 days ago
Such a good game, see you on the scoreboards 🙂
This is awesome! Helpful and funny!
It my new favourite VR game

I think in that situation, whoever got there 1st stays 1st. Congrats BTW, pretty amazing to get a perfect score 👍😃👍
Great tips for a great game.
Thanks for the tips! Love the Zombieland reference :D
1st rule of the zombie apocalypse?
@@MacInVR Cardio! Not that shelter-in-place has been helping...Getting those Pistol Whip squats in though!
My absolute favourite game in VR, better than crappy Beat Saber (because I suck at Beat Saber!!)
🤔🙄

Dead eye makes the game 100% harder 😳

I haven't played it on PSVR, how well do the move controllers track? I'm curious about this? Great game though, probably my most played game of 2020 🙂

I've got every trophy apart from pistol whip everyone one the bridge. haven't got enough play-space to reach them all lol
Lol...broken controllers inbound!!
@@MacInVR I hit the wall a couple of times on this game, but not as much as on Superhot VR :-)
Thanks for the video! What about dual mode...do you get a better score using one as opposed to two?
Single for me, my dual wielding sucks 😕
why in story mode (not scene) i dont have 2 guns?
why are there only 2 comments
your vids are gudd

I agree, Contractors has an excellent fine tuning tool for all weapons and i wish Onward had the same 🙄
How do you get access to the other guns? I'm only allowed to use one gun all the others are greyed out
Odd? Are you running the latest version (2089 update)

Sights? Sight picture? Me just point shooting my way to victory. It’s pretty unfortunate, I shoot right handed and im left eyed XD
Ive got a mate has the same problem, he was terrible at shooting until he realised!
Pro tip don’t act like your actually getting shot at lol. I literally was on the floor in this game
