Good morning Magic, can you do a video on shooting a group photo of 5 or more people of a bridal party.. demonstrating the best focus mode to use ... with the a7iv camera.. I kinda struggle with this.. should I turn off my eye af. When I do group of people. Thanks Ray
Hey Ray! What I do is just focus and track main person in the middle (bride/groom). And in order to make sure everyone is in focus just extend depth of field by using higher f stop like f/2.8-4
Outstanding video-outstanding. Just got my A7iv and this has helped me enormously in terms of a guide to go forward with. Have my first pre wedding shoot with it on Saturday, then Monday for another, then a wedding next Saturday. I’d love to see you do a flash set up video if you have time please! Outstanding content, best Sony guides on YT.
I have a Custom Shoot button set to something I call "Mayday Mayday". It is full auto, no restrictions on things like ISO range. Everything is programmed to let me get 'that shot, no matter what'. I've only used it once. Lights went off and the ceremony room went pretty dark as Bride was half way down the aisle. I pressed my mayday button because I didn't have the 2 or 3 seconds needed to dial in the new settings. Very handy! :-)
I just got my A7iv , 35mm gm and 85mm sigma lenses today. Going to copy your setup for now and tweak it later on. I like your content my guy, I'm hoping to swap careers to be a wedding photographer this year so I have enjoyed listening to you. Thanks for doing your videos, much appreciated.
Im still waiting for my 2 Sony A7iv to arrive. I plan on using "Reg. Custom Shoot Set" for the confetti shots. While holding the custom button on my lens I will activate Hi+ drive, minimum shutter speed of 1/500 and tracking sensitivity to 1. Hope is doable.
I really would love to see a video of what's the "magic" way to manage low light situations, just as in ambient (let's say "bad") lighting conditions for - example on the dining and dancing location ❤️
Hey!! Thank you for the informational content very straight forward. You mentioned your custom setup for flash memory recall, would you mind doing a video to show us as you did this one. Thanks in advance☺️
Hi , thanks for your great videos,- can you connect external flashes via cable in this camera? I've been having a lot of issues with this camera and the hotshoes--sent it to Sony /buying the multiple part involve fort this hot shoes/ changing all godox flashes for the new metal hot shoes- and at the end this camera is really unreliable for photography. hotshoes becomes loose frequently and do not recognize flashes when turning the camera up and down. the only way is to connect external flashes via cable to it. I don't know how to do it since it doesn't have a sync port. any help will be appreciated. Thanks ohhh have you tried by multifuntion port?
Magic! Great Video. Thx for that. Are you aware of efcs effect on bokeh with fast shutter speeds? Or is this not relevant due to mechanical shutter only?
Not at all! It feels actually amazing, I do prefer 33mp over 42mp, I can fit more photos on cards and it still gives me plenty for cropping. And all the other features of A7IV feel way superior over A7RIII - there’s no way back.
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer Awesome! Thats good to know. I'm coming from a single A7RIV and trying to decide to buy a second RIV body or downsize my files to two A7IV's so that's helpful feedback.
@@danielpierce8136 RIV is way better than RIII, but would still probably be keen to move down to 33mpx. Depending what’s your real motivation for switch here. From RIII there is plenty af, body, dual fast card slot, EVF, screen. While from RIV it’s gonna be mostly megapixels, ISO performance, video.
Czy mam coś źle ustawione bo gdy ja wcisnę przycisk eye af to zielony boks pojawia się najczęściej przy osobie w środku kadru (przy kilku osobach na zdjęciu), a nie najbliższej do punktu ostrości?
When adjusting the settings in picture mode to raw, then switching to movie mode and going back to picture mode it automatically changes to jpeg all the time, any idea why it won't save the settings? Thanks for the video btw🙌
Wow! Haven’t seen someone using only Mechanical shutter for awhile. Using the A1, I only use the electronic shutter. Can you explain your reasoning? Thanks so much
Mechanical shutter prevents from rolling shutter effect for slower readout sensors as rolling shutter applies for stills too for [fast] moving objects.
Hey , can you help me with my sony a7iv because when i took a photo on my sony a7iv and then i look on my monitor is different with the viewfinder. When i move it to my computer it’s looks more similar with the monitor preview. Maybe you can help me with your experience while take a picture with sony fullframe because this is my first full frame camera. Thanks
Have you found a large amount of noise in your shadows on the a7IV? I’ve experienced it with mine, and have seen Reddit threads of people experiencing the same thing. I feel like pushing my iso anywhere higher than 400 is a no-go if I want a clean image
Simply put, the best walkthrough to get your Sony A7IV up to speed, period. Much appreciated - you are awesome!
On Sony A7 IV, you can backup all camera settings to SD card.
You can restore them on another A7 IV !
excellent and useful, I was struggling with white balance, having a dedicated button and not use AWB seem to b working for me now

Really great video. Just got a pair of 7iv. You really helped me. I will definitely watch all your videos. Thx
Lots of useful advice as always. AEL w/ shutter is very handy especially when using spot metering plus tracking.
Thanks Nick! True, ael with shutter can be handy. And especially if you’re just used to it :)
Any chance of doing a video on shooting Aperture Priority Mode for weddings?
Great I learned locust I aimed my camera as I saw in your video Thank you from Israel (Ephraim)
Thank you for helping- just switching from Fuji - and really everything is different ..:-) (great work!)
Glad I could help! Hope you will enjoy your Sonys!
I’m just switching too Kim- how has it been?
This came at the perfect time! Just got my A7iv yesterday.
Perfect timing indeed! Enjoy you camera!
Excellent explanation and video . Before changing all these values , should the knob be on AUTO ?
Thank you
So thankful for this tutorial!

Hi...have you changed raw format from uncompressed to one of losseless variants?
Nope! I shoot compressed
good explanations
Hej ! Jak z pompowaniem na wyższych f ? Da się tym w końcu błyskać ?
Nie pompuje, obejrzyj to: ua-cam.com/video/NSCXKblBccE/v-deo.html
WOW! great video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
thank you much!
Thank you Mark for the valuable info. One question pls if i update my A74 with new firm wear will I loose the camera settings ?
thank you charlie
Nope! You will not. You can also save your camera settings to memory card just in case!

Very good one!
Glad you think so!
You are finally using aperture priority 🎉🎉🎉💪🏻💪🏻
Yes 😁
is there any way to creative look off .. ?
i mean, you can set picture profile to off but at creative look you have to choose one mandatory???
Magic! Great Video. Thx for that. Are you aware of efcs effect on bokeh with fast shutter speeds? Or is this not relevant due to mechanical shutter only?
Yup, it does "cut" the bokeh balls in certain situations, but I did not find it problematic in real life scenario to be honest
Hey Magic, do you use that Frame rate limit option to prevent evf from lagging in low light condition shooting with on camera flash?
Thank you for sharing! Has it felt like a sacrifice at all stepping down in megapixels from the A7RIII to the A7IV? Has it limited you at all?

Not everyone has an a1 and you need mech shutter for flash. But of course, a lot of people dont do ocf.. unfortunately..

I actually did not find anything unusual (at least comparing to A7RIII), but I'll dig into it
hello bro...what is this bulb type structure on your table ? what have you filled inside it ?
😀
i co jeszcze moze eye af dziala na 100%?
