Hi Chris, great vid thank you! Good to hear your view on e-front curtain. With it switched off on my A74’s it seems to lower the Hi burst rate from 8fps to 6fps but not affect the Hi+ burst rate. Have you or anyone else found this?

Thanks Chris very helpful. I notice you've come off Sony Rs now. Im trying to decide between a A74 or a A7R5. Im a Nikon hybrid shooter, so not much experience with Sony cameras. I like the rear screen on the A7R5 and the AWB is supposed to be much improved.

Great video man! Learned a lot from here. Few questions though. How do you choose the aperture priority option when making custom memory recalls? And what settings you use for photography in memory recall buttons? :)
Bit late to the party but I just got an A7IV and trying to figure out this exact problem. I found it : you set your camera to the prefered mode and settings then save it to custom mode dial 1. Then do the same for video : switch the dial to video, go to your prefered mode, (M for instance) setup and everything then save it to custom mode dial 1.
Like this, you will have on custom mode dial 1 one setup when you're in photo mode (ex : Aperture priority) and one setup when you're in video mode (ex: Manual mode with 1/50th for 24p for instance).

Hello chris! Thanks for this great video! Just a question regarding your c1 setting. I saw that you keep the aperture priority mode in video. Do you think the rule of double the shutter speed for video is really important or are you using it? As if your in A mode in video the camera will decide the shutter speed? Thanks

i mean, you can set picture profile to off but at creative look you have to choose one mandatory???
I have dust issues on my A7iv dust comes out dark spots on my images really weird but you can’t see them to the naked eye. Also my images from camera look bright then on my computer look very dark any advice?

Hey bro great video I am a bit lost on how you can set the camera to not have a picture profile on photo - to only have it when you are in video mode.
It's a custom setting in the menu. You just have to choose what it saves when you switch to video. This is only with the A74

I took an a7iv this week, I found something strange when I deactivate the e-Front Cutain Shutter on the camera and take a picture, it seems that it makes two shooting sounds.
With the e-Front Cutain Shut I only hear a trigger sound
Do you know if this is normal?

I need to wrap my head around your hybrid style at the end. In my testing, it's making more sense to just set video and photo as needed on MR1, then just flip the video/photo switch (which you did). I guess shooting video in aperture priority is throwing me off (I am a video guy getting more into photo now) but this could just be a case of whatever works for the user. Is it a preference or tied to the fact that you shoot that way in photo? It doesn't mess with slowing shots down?
Also LOL at the offhand "no chimping" comment. I had JUST turned that on, looked up what it meant, and agree, so it's back off.
I never had an A1. Sony just sent me one to use for a couple weeks.

@@ChrisTurnerPhotographer my back story I only shoot the odd wedding as a enthusiast amateur with a Nikon D800, I’m considering switching to the Sony A6300 mainly for size, better focus faster camera etc. would you see this as a downgrade or a small step forward ?

What do you do in terms of shutter speed when doing hybrid? Ignore the shutter rule as I assume you aren't keeping an ND on while doing photo as well? Trying to get my toes wet in adding a highlight film to my weddings.

I've been using aperture priority for photos but when I hit video record the shutter speed changes, any idea why this is happening?

multi balances the average of the largest portion of the frame, entire screen average balances the average for the whole frame

I currently have an A7RII and I am considering the A7RIV or the A7IV, do you think the A7IV is enough megapixels? I love cropping lol
More than Megapixels, The R series give richer colors. I used both, for my purposes atleast A7iv had enough mega pixels. Where a7riv shined was color and to an extent sharpness

I tried these settings, but unable to shoot video in Aperture priority while maintaining 180 shutter rule. Or are you letting the shutter speed vary?
I don’t worry about the 180 shutter rule, there’s no need
i have noticed that my A74 is quickly getting warm just shooting photos, mainly on the bottom and a bit around the lens mount. an the battary is going down too fast... any idea why this would be?
Not sure mine doesn’t really get warm unless it’s super hot outside and I’m shooting a lot, but warm is fine

If I switch the dial to video and put pp11 on and switch back to stills it’s still there. I want my video and stills settings separate .
I think there is a setting in the menu you have to switch on telling the camera to separate video and photo settings - I saw a video about it
