I put in an aftermarket temperature gauge in my 89 civic. Will that affect the fan not turning on? Because it doesnt turn on now.

My fan on my radiator blows air to the engine does it suppose to blow to the radiator? I’m having overheating after 20min parked. had my mechanic do the fan go direct power.
