Just picked up a used rane one once the rev 7 was announced…price was cut in 1/2 ! I came from 2 technics with a vestax mixer (then upgraded to a rane 56 + sl2 box). The rane one brought me back to that. Loving it so far. Just built a furniture around it for weddings.
I'm hoping to pick one of these up soon (just waiting for some expected money to come in!) I use to mess around with turntables about 10 years ago but then I got ill and relocated back to to the town where my family are. As I was restricted on space I had to get rid of my set up and bought a Traktor Kontrol S2 to make mix tapes but it wasn't very good for turntablism!!! Well it's been sat in a soft case for years and I haven't really touched it since but I've had the desire to have something to scratch with and I came across the Rane One. A controller with motorized platters that have the same feel as proper TTs and doesn't take up that much space, seemed like a no brainer to me (plus it's quite a bit cheaper than a Pioneer DDJ Rev7) and as I don't plan to gig with it to make any money, spending nearly £2K was a bit much and as the One has been out for a while now I can pick one up for just over £1K. The price and size and the whole nature of this beast is perfect for my needs so I'm looking forward to brushing up on my old skills, time to dig out my QBert DVDs!!!!
Love this! You brought up so many relevant points with this. It's perfect to have in the studio and prep and the fact that it only weighs as much as one turntable was such a selling point for me. I used the NS7 MKI for the longest time and love that this is so much lighter. Will definitely help reduce the stress of hopping from gig to gig. Just subscribed. Great work, keep it up!
Glad you liked the video! I ended up getting that Magma case for my Rane and it's been great having those options depending on my needs. I can use the decksaver in my office, the Magma when I'm just running to rehearsal or a light gig, or throw it in the big Odyssey case for when I need to build out a serious setup, and I LOVE that I never have to compromise! My Rane goes everywhere with me now!
Nice follow-up vid. Great points on the value of the Rane One. Also, Decksavers are a must have for all the equipment you have and Decksaver supports...
Is there anyway to do a manual loop tightening with the rane one by using the jog wheel? like hitting the out button on a cdj pioneer and pulling back the jog wheel? or can you only shorten loops with the bottom two loop buttons?
Great question! I've only ever used the loop/parameter buttons to make those adjustments, but they're super accurate, so I've never felt like I needed to use the platters to get the results I need. ~ Switch
I picked up my Rane One back in July 21 and absolutely love it,, I have gone probably one step more minimal and have paired it up to an iPad which runs the Algoriddim Djay software..That Neural Mix feature is a true killer.. I opted for a UDG Hard case which I believe was built for the Pioneer DDJ800 & Denon Prime 2 as there were no available cases to suit the Rane one at te time and it fits perfectly albeit a bit snug and tight and weighs at 12.5 lbs.. I modified the case a bit so that it has a IEC male power plug on the side and a very compact iPad stand inside which folds up when I close the lid.. I have have room for my headphones, my iPad in a gel case and the power lead inside when i close the case.. I mainly use it for mobile work and have gone the Sennheiser wireless speaker route and I have the wireless transmitters both for my main and booth speakers inside the case as well.. It truly is a tidy setup..
Using the Numark NS7II for almost a decade (and coming from vinyl) I totally agree. Compared to the Rane the Numark is a battleship of weight, but still has unique features as touch sensitive knobs. Don ´t understand this feature was abandonend. Killing bass, mids or highs just with a touch was glorious!
Hey Steve! I'm using a Sony ZV-1 and a pair of dome lamps with LifX bulbs for key lights with some light diffusion, and the Sony has a Moment 20% mist filter to get a little softer look from my practical lighting in the room. Hope that helps :)
Great video and compelling sources of info. Thanks! I have owned the rane one for a couple months now. Having come from a vinyl house mixing style , I can’t imagine owning a different controller. I pretty much love it with a few caveats. My biggest gripe is the sound quality. I play side by side with vinyl and have compared it to the sound quality of Serato dvs through a rane sl3 and rane empath . The rane one is so much more digital in its sound signature even compared to the dvs through the sl3. It’s so dramatically different in sound quality to me that I don’t really enjoy playing on it at home and have simply reserved it for light footprint mobile gigs. Has anyone noticed this? Could I have a bad deck? A lessor but other frustrating issue for me is the layout of the left hand pitch fader. I usually keep my hand on the fader to ride the pitch and my left hand is super close to my right and me left pinkie is in fact often accidentally pressing some of the loop buttons just to the left of the fader. I wish they had mirrored the pitch faders so that the left hand one was on the other side of the deck. Other issues are related to some weird glitchy problems where the turntable refuses to start or has surges in the pitch as I move the pitch fader. Luckily this hasn’t happened live yet. Curious everyone’s thoughts, mostly regarding sound quality.
Hey there! I agree that Windows 11 isn't ready for the DJ community yet, but thankfully any new laptops with Windows 11 can be downgraded for free to Windows 10 using the same license! One thing I really like about the Rane that I didn't get to address in the video, though, is that the Rane sound cards don't rely as much on audio drivers as some other companies, which means you get a more hardware-driven sound that takes less ram and taxes less on your computer. I've had web browsers that conflicted with controller drivers, for example, and cause huge problems with my audio output during a gig, but that's never going to be an issue with the Rane because of how the drivers are designed which is great for both Windows 10 and Mac folks :)
Amazing review, made the Rane one seem better than it actually is 😂 in all seriousness, I loved my Rane one but once I got the rev 7 I can’t see the Rane one the same anymore. The crossfader on the Rane isn’t as sharp. I will say tho that the Rane does feel a lot more quality and feels better when you’re using it and in my opinion the Rane one looks more attractive
Hi nice video! I wanted to know if any of you have the same problem as me: Using the RANE ONE with the stems activated therefore serato dj pro version 3.x.x, on notebooks with AMD Ryzen 3, 12 GB of ram, shared integrated graphics card, ssd, etc. during playback the tracks seem to skip causing a lot of annoyance or causing the 2 tracks to lose synchronism, but disabling the turntable motors this does not happen (with active stems, instead with deactivated stems it seems not to happen), in fact on my other DJ controller without motorized turntable everything is fine. However, this defect seems not to occur on my 10 year old desktop PC, with AMD FX6300 processor 16GB RAM, dedicated graphics card 4GB RAM (I did some tests on it). Of course I optimized Windows 10 and 11, formatted, reset to factory settings, before doing all the tests, but the result didn't change.
I actually just saw Bill Beats last week at a show, and he took it a step further. Dude gutted out a RIFLE CASE so he could get the portability of a soft case but the sturdiness of a hard case. My guy is NOT playin' around hahaha
The Rane One is actually made of plastic. The outer shell is textured in a manner that is made to feel metal but when you open it, the panels are all plastic. If you don’t believe me, open yours up and look.
Hey @twenty one, you're partially correct. I actually got sent a refrigerator magnet by an artist friend of mine and happened to have it nearby, so I tested my Rane in my office to check. You can feel that the top panel and bottom panel are metal because they are cold to the touch and they respond to the magnet, but the sides are definitely plastic, so it looks like we're both right :)
Serato is boring with rane one... The included efects are shit... You have to analize the songs and manually put the BPM and key.. Djay from algoritm has better and cleaner interface, better efects.. better wave , I read that also has better sound.. also you can use with tablet or phone...Im sold with rane one with Djay.
Lot of the stuff you say is right...but again and again praising that its just one device and pnp... thats basicly true for nearly any controller above 200$

Def agree. I low-key hate how much money I've given Decksaver, but I can't stop buying their stuff haha
Hi there. just wandering how’s the rane one for playing ,house and nu disco on ?Kind regards Michael .
Fantastic

I was on the fence Rev, Rane.
Curious, which camera are you using. Looks very good. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks for watching
what flight case are you running with the rane 1??
We recommend ProX
Yes but playing it through Windows 11 audio is distorted with no fix in sight
The solution here seems to be not using Windows 11 🤷♂️

Switch is genuine and loves it - we don’t disagree though about REV7 although it is priced higher to be fair.
@@TheDJsGuru yes when it comes best bang for your buck, Rane one all the way but I got $300 off a new rev 7 so why not 😂
