I love your channel. it's so nice to find a book tube channel that isn't primarily YA. you seem to have the same ecclectic tastes as I do and I've picked up a couple books because of you ^.^ and I JUST finished big little lies. not the typical thriller I read but I think you'll really enjoy it ^.^ it was REALLY good. lol
Only October that's what made me finally pick it up! lol. I kept seeing it and thought it was a different type of book,. than I saw the trailer and got the book that evening. can't wait for it to start!
Only October I finished it in a day! The first chapters had me thinking "oh no I picked up desperate housewives" but oh was I wrong
I don't know what it is about book hauls that is so relaxing. I've had a stressful weekend and have a bad headache and needed something to calm me down, saw that you had uploaded this and it has really helped me to relax a bit
Mist of Avalon is one of my all time favorites. It's a nice twist on the Arthurian legends and takes characters we know and really fleshes them out but also makes them a little different. The author ended up writing other books as well but they all can be stand alone books. There's a prequel to Mists of Avalon called The Forest House, then Lady of Avalon and then Priestess of Avalon. They're OK, but Mists of Avalon is by far the best in the 'series'.
I'm all about that fantasy/adventure stuff too!! They're gems 💕
Omg yes, I'm planning on re-reading the Mists of Avalon this year and continuing the series!
Emily I just want to say that i've been loving your booktube videos! I didn't even know booktube existed before but I love seeing this non-beauty side of you as well :)
Emily! Don't worry about 11/22/63 , it's soo good - it's fast paced and it reads like Dark Matter. Once you start it's very easy to pace through it!
I follow your makeup channel and was so excited you have a book channel as well! You are awesome!
The princess bride is one of my favorite movies!! You need to watch it after you finish reading it. I've been meaning to read the book but I haven't picked it up yet
Amazing haul once again! I haven't read a lot of fantasy BUT I love Harry Potter. I am really into your hauls, so I am going to look up some of these books to read!
I really recommend Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson and Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond. Speak was a book I simply adored when I was younger, and it is a very fast read. I read Guns, Germs, and Steel for a history class of mine and I found it really interesting. There's also a documentary based off of it. Happy reading!
The Bartemeus Trilogy is great, they're super quick despite their size, especially if you get really sucked in.
Mists of Avalon is one of my favorite books ever!! The women are strong and amazing. Actually made me visit Glastonbury in England... Where magic meets reality... Hope you will enjoy it!
Wooow, so many good books, and I agree I love the library , I got the hunger games trilogy hard cover for just a dollar. Also watch for boxing day (week) indigo does it too.
I love your book hauls so much
Mists of Avalon is one of my favourite books of all time!
I definitely will wait for your classic haul. I'm so excited about it because my next year ultimate reading goal is to read more classic. I'm really looking for some good recommendation. :)
I love your huge book hauls!
the mists of Avalon is AMAZING!
Just found your channel yesterday. And i cant stop watching your vids 😊😊
What a great selection of books!! I'd definitely say when reading Princess Bride to not take it too seriously, it's that kind of story...and definitely watch the movie after ❤️️ Stephen King is one of my fave authors, I really recommend his short stories too if you like that kind of thing! Different Seasons is a collection of four of his shorts/novellas, definitely recommend. Some of these I haven't read, I'll have to check them out!
You're the reason why my TBR list is crazy long. Lol. I've been adding your recommendations ever since you started this channel. I just finished Dark Matter and totally loved it. Currently, you got me hooked on V.E. Schwab!
I'm so happy you're loving them!! :D
That's an amazing haul, I love finding cheap books! 11/22/63 is really great, I hope you like it.
Went to watch The Princess Bride after this video and now I can't stop thinking "Butternut" whenever Buttercup shows up 😂
The books you recommend don't have much hype on booktube but some of them sound interesting! Thanks,Emily!
Yes, yes, yes!! Read The Mists of Avalon!! I'm not even a fan of fantasy, but I love it! I just wish I could read it for the First time again...
I loved the Magicians! The first book does have Harry Potter vibes but it reminds me more of the Chronicles of Narnia.
U have great reading taste Emily..Totally appreciate it😊👍🏻
I love The Magicians Trilogy, it's only like Harry Potter in that there's a magical school. Brutal and different the first time I read it I hated it (was for uni ) but it all came together in the end, and is so well done hope you enjoy!
I literally gasped when you brought out the Bartimaeus book. I love those books, and even though they're technically for tweens the writing isn't too juvenile and the character Bartimaeus is really sarcastic.
Also after this I went to my library and bought 5 books, all for only 10 cents! I bought 2 books from The Wheel of Time series, you convinced me to start them/start collecting them, and one of them was signed! I'm super pumped.
I'm actually in the middle of reading them! Hah! I'm only on the second book (I've read the first and second book when they first came out and didn't continue because he hadn't written them). They're so good!
No I haven't gotten to them yet! I have so much on my TBR that I'm not even sure if those are on there or not hah
You as well! Have a safe holiday!
There's a TV show for 11/22/63 on Hulu and it is my favorite TV show!!! I absolutely love it and wish it wasn't over 😩😩😩
I watched the movie The Princess Bride long before I knew about the book, and it's still one of my all time favorite films. The book is a satire of fantasy and romance, sometimes over-the-top, but always in a way that pokes fun. It was good, but not as memorable as the movie.
Linda Dilbeck I loooovvveeee the princess birders movie! lol haven't gotten around to the book though
i love your book haul video so much xx
Will you do a best of the year type of thing for the books you've read at the end of the year?
I'm excited for your dark tower adventure. I feel like that movie will make or break me. But I love Idris Elba so hopefully it works out. It's been in movie/tv limbo for ages.
i LOVE LOVE LOVE guns germs and steel the documentary series by jared diamond, and i've so been wanting to read the book!!
Matched by Ally Condie and Burned by Ellen Hopkins both have good, non cheesy love stories in them. I've read almost all of Ellen Hopkins' books and she is one of, if not my favorite author ever! I picked up Flowers For Algernon based on your recommendation and just started it. :)
Emily, I am definitely enjoying your book channel :)
Speak is such a good and raw book. It's beautiful and hilarious!
I absolutely love speak!!!!
The other book she wrote from big little lies is called the husbands secret and I'd really recommend that one too!!
This is what I needed for study pause😁😁 Love you Emily💖💖💖💖💖
Pauses are good for you ;)
Even better when I watch your video😅😊
definitely know ive mentioned this book before but Maybe Someday by colleen hoover is my all time favorite book!! also i love hold still by nina lacouer.
i wish i had more time to read honestly because watching this channel always makes me was to read!
Her name is butternut... oh buttercup. Lol!!!
I really love the Bartimaues Trilogy and The Reckoners Trilogy, but haven't read the calamity because hasn't published in here! Actually, I want to start reading Stephen King's too, but don't know where to start. Any recommendation?
Wow so many good books! The Wax and Wayne series (Mistborn Era 2) is actually 4 books, the last one is coming out I think in 2017? Maybe 2018, not sure, but yeah, just thought I'd let you know cause I know you like to have all the books in the series before you read it!
omg! Bartimaeus!!! 😍 😍 😍 😍
I LOVE that book!!!!! YEEEES!! ❤
Golden sun is the best of red rising trilogy and I got Brandon sanderson steelheart trilogy as well for xmas
Have you ever read any Tamora Pierce? She's my favourite author, and I love all her books.
Actually the second Mistborn trilogy has four books, the last one isn't written yet. And yes, the next trilogy will be again in the future where space travel is possible because of allomancy, sounds so cool!
The Alloy of Law is actually a standalone. Then Sanderson decided to make a trilogy out of the Alloy characters. So Shadows is the first book, Bands is the second. The third, entitled The Lost Metal as of now, would be released on 2018 (or so as he expect).
I smiled big when you showed the gunslinger books😆 I enjoyed that series as much as I do harry potter. keep reading Gerald's game. and yes to princess bride😀 oh you showed 11/22/63 its a big book but its a good book. I've enjoyed a lot of Stephen king 😊
Where is your shirt from? I love the color!
Love the lights on the background! I recommend Attachments by Rainbow Rowell if you're looking for a non-cheesy romance novel :)
Whats booktube and how can i find it? Im trying to find recommendations for historical fiction and adult fiction
The Princess Bride is such a good movie! Very funny
Misery was such a good movie , that scene were she breaks both his ankles omg ... could not watch lol
omg yessss- this video is just what I needed today
For the best romance try any book by Kathleen Woodiwess (Shanna, or Pedals on the River) to name only two. She was the best at historical fiction romance. Really really the best!
The Martian Chronicles is hauntingly beautiful!
Oh Gerald's Game ! One of my Favorite S.K books . I loved 11/22/63 too! (More like contemporary history )Stephen King isn't for everyone because he tends to focus a lot on character building , that's why most of his books are slower paced and long. But if you like that then you will love him. ;)
Only read one book by him so far but I can't wait to try some more :D
Love all the books by Jim Butcher👍👍.
Can you do a video about your book storage? I have downsized my library quite a bit because I got terrified of moving xD
Susanne Flux i had to down size because I'm moving too!!! Across the country and the idea of bringing all the books was a little daunting so I only kept my faves and ones I haven't read. It wasn't that hard because my tastes have changed a lot. I'll cut it down even further once I start packing but just think of all the fun you'll have buying new books once you've settled in!
Speak is a great book, Emily!!
omg when you said buttercup I immediately thought of the movie that my english teacher showed thursday. She showed my class the book but there were only 20 books so my class was unable to read it since there are 27 of us in the class
For February real Lost Stars by Claudia Gray!!! It's a Star Wars story but you don't have to be a fan to read it! It's about two best friends (a girl and a guy) who grow up very differently but have the same goals to be fighter pilots for the empire. When they get there though one chooses to rebel and the other stays. It's such a good story about loving a person but having to chose your morals over it! Pls it's Sci-Fi so it's not just straight up lovey dovey stuff!
Emily have you ever read the serie "The Giver" ? Is one of my favourite series!!!
hey! you're going to read the dark tower? here's a recommendation: read the gunslinger and the drawning of the three back-to-back....think of them as one book... other thing, if you can get the revised edition for the gunslinger, you would enjoy it more... the dark tower is incredible, hope you like it :)
i am not to big on romance books either the only ones i really like are paranormal romances
Have you read A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness? It is one of my faves. It is sort of romance-y but it is also real-world fantasy. Also The Book of Dreams by OR Melling is a really good YA fantasy book.
Bit of a personl question, but what do you plan on pursuing after law school? :)
The Princess bride book is a bit slow - it goes off on tangents. but the film is amazing!
As I already told you get Confess is about love but also is about other things but I dont want to tell you so much but its amazing and also by Collen Hoover I heard that Ugly Love is also very good I havent read it but if you have to choose between the two read Confess or both love u xoxo
I have Ugly Love so I'll definitely add it to my pile to read that month :)
Big Little Lies! Soooo good! I read it in one sitting...(on a Sunday!! So it was valid ha)
If you want a fun, light romance definitely check out "The Hating Game" by Sally Thorne!
For February, I would recommend that you read What Dreams May Come, Sunday's at Tiffany's, and The Time Traveler's Wife :).
Candace G I love Sundays at Tiffany's and time traveler's wife. I'd also recommend the wedding by Nicholas Sparks
Makaylas beautiful life I love them too. They are nice when you're in the mood for a romance book :). I'll have to try The Wedding. I haven't read it.
Njoy them all xxx
Speak was a good book, very powerful, kinda funny, kinda sad, it's a quick read I'm sure you'll enjoy 👍🏼
I love Stephen king. Gerald's game is really good it does get better, also Gerald's game is connected to Dolores Claiborne which I also love. I have the first 4 books in the dark tower series and I really need to get to them. Did you know that all of Stephens kings novels are connected in some way to the gunslinger series?
I didn't but that's so fun! Love when authors do that :D
OMG So many books! There are no Library Sales in my country, you're so lucky! :D
Have you read Elantris by Sanderson? It is the perfect bridge into fantasy.
Not yet but I'm planning to! :)
I wanna go to your library for these sales. Like that Brandon Sanderson series and the Sleeping Giants book were steals. I didn't know the author for Sleeping Giants was Canadian. Yeah Canadian authors.
I love your book haul! how awesome is your library! just a suggestion - could you list out the books in the description box?
have you tried reading the disc world books from Terry Pratchett? humor and fantasy... they are amazing!
Golden son is sooo good, it's better than Red Rising, and 11/22/63 is good as well, when you read it you should watch the series with james franco, it has some things that are different from the book, but is sooo good
I'm going to try out The Raven Boys next year and hope for the best.. lately YA hasn't been my thing either.
Love your channel!!
Thank you! I haven't been lucky with YA this year... Didn't love Fangirl, everything everything... wasn't huge on the mortal instruments either... the best one I've read this year was I'll give you the sun!
It's great that you read so much fantasy - now I have a much longer list of books to buy :D
I'll highly recommend 'Aristotle and Dante discover the Secrets of the Universe' if you haven't read it yet, it's similiar to I'll give you the sun and definitely one of my favourites of the year!
We can help each other out! I guess you like/read Stephen King a lot? I plan to read more of his books next year. I have the Dark Tower as well but haven't started the series yet..
I actually have only read one of his books! I'm more into fantasy but I haven't had the chance to read much until now!
We can definitely help each other :)
Sina Smialy that's one of my absolute favorite books!
SPEAK IS AMAZING YES OMG
Hey Emily. Have you read 'Daddy Long Legs' by Jean Webster?? If not you must! It's really cute and well written with a little romance (not cringy or suffocating hehe) :D one of my faves :)
Magicians is such an awesome TV show
I love this channel!
you should look into reading magnolia in February its by kristi cook to me it was really good I feel like you might like it📖amazing book haul by the way😊
If you're looking for a rom com-y type book that isn't too cheesy you should read Attatchments by Rainbow Rowell
ohmygawd stephen king! im planning to read more of him this year :)
11/22/63 is a fantastic story, do not be scared of its size. It is a page turner.
I'll definitely get to it this summer :D
I love the Princess Bride! and yes, it's supposed to be a bit ridiculous so don't expect a great romance or anything :D Earthsea was one of my faves growing up but I haven't read the Left Hand of Darkness but it sounds awesome!
Brandon is planning a third and fourth series in the Mistborn world, but hold your marathoning because the Wax and Wayne (Alloy of Law->) series isn't yet finished and the last and fourth book is coming no sooner than 2018 ;_____; #sadness it's really good though!
great bookhaul!
read frozen charlotte. creepy as hell. very fun read
happy new year
If you're looking for YA books that aren't full of tropes, pick up Six Of Crows. Sooooooooo good.
Emily! How do you get the books for 25 cents? I'm pretty sure you mentioned it but I'm too far into the video and I don't wanna look for the clip where you said it hahah
LOL you literally just mentioned it as soon as I posted that. Ok, the library, got it👍🏻
Gerald's Games only gets creepier. But, a great read.
Oh I really want to read 11/22/63!
I wish I find as many library sales as you do..
And for the month of February I suggest you read Every Day by David Levithan, it was so so so good I promise ^^
It's worth asking your library! I've only known for a few months that mine at some! Oh that's perfect I already have it thank you!! :)
