    I did this last year. Went to nationwide chain store and asked for a rag joint, guy looked at me like I'd just sprouted two more heads. FYI, there are 2 sizes of rag joints used in Fox Mustangs, most common is the large one. My '82 used a small one.
    I didn't loosen the rack as my steering column shifted freely.

      Did the lmr one fit properly for your 82?

      @@mustangstuff7213 Sorry, not from LMR, another vender. First one I got was a large one, second one that fit was about 3/4" smaller

    Amazing video as always! I would have loved to see the steering wheel play after the install, maybe next time!

      Thanks! It was difficult to capture. Honestly, the play looked identical on camera. You could definitely feel the difference, though. -Landan

    Never had to loosen the steering rack for this job, it's easier to loosen the steering column.
    I've done that job four times at least...

    This video took me too long to find! It looks like it would work on my pinto . Except the removal process is more tricky..

    Is it ok that your bolts were too short? Did you have to crank the nuts down super tight to get full thread engagement or am I missing something?

    • @latemodelrestoration
      @latemodelrestoration  Рік тому

      Once you tighten the nut, the last thread cuts into the nylon collar. No, they don't have to be crazy tight. Unfortunately, the thread engagement wasn't shown. -Landan

    Can I put the car on’s ramps or does it have to be jackstands?

      It would be much easier if the weight of the car was off of the front suspension -Landan

    Mine was not that simple and even at the end i couldnt get the splined parts to go on all the way so i had to tighten it on only the first set of splines
    i also had a different rag joint part mine had rivets in the new one already

    my 93 must be diff...couldnt get rack pulled forward enuff on driver side "Hyd lines" and BOTH of my studs are the same size...I would have been better off not drilling them out n leaving them and just use the rag joint n thrown the rest n my bolt bucket. Now I have find a sleeve for the smaller diameter stud and bell it out to retain it....update..leave it alone....it actually makes it easier to access pinch bolt

      Does "n" mean "in" or "and"? I might be having the same issue but I can't understand you
