Scott Drake's LED Gauge Light Kit for 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, or 1993 Mustangs will transform your dim factory lights into ultra-bright LED lights, which are three to four times brighter. This is a twelve-bulb instrument panel kit and includes everything you need to brighten your dash area, including gauge illumination bulbs, turn signal indicator bulbs, warning lamp bulbs, and a high beam indicator bulb.
Begin your installation by removing the gauge cluster housing, steering column trim, and the lower trim panels. Once the gauge cluster is removed, you'll find the bulbs located on the back of it, each individually labeled.
Remove the old bulbs and replace them with the new Scott Drake LED bulbs, and test to make sure all bulbs are working. Then return your cluster to your dash. Reinstall all the trim and panels, and your installation is finished in around an hour.

It absolutely is. The limiting factor in even distribution of light is the locations of the factory bulbs. There is a bulb right behind that gauge so it will light up more than the others so while the entire cluster is not evenly lit it is still way brighter than the factory bulbs.
Scott Drake's LED Gauge Light Kit will transform your dim factory lights to ultra bright LED lights, which are three to four times brighter.
This kit includes 12 bulbs and everything you need to brighten your dash area. Watch our latest video to learn how you can install these lights in your #Mustang yourself!
I need to do this for my 83 GT. My clusters have a red tint, so I think I can change to red LEDs. I was nervous but this video helped a lot. I'll probably try to do it
I was looking at the Dakota digital gauge package and its pretty cool, I believe this is the best option for me as I like the factory look best and the price for this set up is better for me as well and holy smokes it does look great super bright!!!
Thank you for the video and the demonstration it was awesome I might have to order some of those lights so I can put on my Foxbody thank you so much
What a difference. I daily drive my '92 LX and a couple of the bulbs have gone out. It looks miserable. This video has given me hope. Removing the cluster is a lot less involved than I imagined.
2:08 I have always been curious about removing the switches. Thanks!
I love how the back of the cluster says, Rickey Rules. Hahahaha
That lx looked just like mine, same calypso, same roll cage, even the same shift knob!
Good install vid. What are your suggestions on some nice aftermarket interior trim pieces ? Thank you.
Made my dash look like a brand new one
Nice! Thank you for making this video.
Would this be a good time to do relays for the lights?
What color adds more horsepower
RED
yeah I got the red and I shaved .00000000019 secs. off my quarter mile time!!!!!!
Green. Always green
great video
Is there a kit that will work in a 99 GT that can swap out the green illumination on my dash when I turn my lights out to led blue?
Anyone else notice the CEL was on in the before pic and off in the after pic? Great way to resell a car. Only kidding great vid just bought my bulbs
Disconnected the battery for install, clears the codes ;)
Awesome video
Thank you!
Thank you! Make sure you subscribe!
Can you guys make a video on how to recalibrate the needles.. please ?
😊😊0
can u use multimeter to test the lights
What lights on the cluster should turn on upon start up?
What about the bulbs in the headlight and hazard switches?
Can they be accessed? I've changed to blue leds in the gauge cluster but those switches are still factory .
Wish autormeter would have made their cobalt led gauges a plug and play like this.Finding the exact location for the 2 12volt wires is driving me nuts ! If i ever get this one in im done with gauges forever..
I've run into a problem and any help would be appreciated, when disconnecting the wires from the pannels the Left wires started smoking. is this something that can be replaced? my right side looks nice and dandy but my left side is black.... it looks like the Korean border help?
Just thought I would let y'all know the pre airbag cars lack the metal knee brace, and the lower trim piece covering the dash cover comes off with 2 Phillips head screws. So for 1987-1989 you don't need an 8mm driver.
I thought I didn't have that... Lol. I love the safety features!
I have an 07' v6 and have been looking for someone to do some body modifications to my car. Such as halos. Led's on the dashboard. And tinting. I know absolutly nothing about cars and pricings. Please help!!
Are the LED bulbs dimable? That dash is so bright it would blind me at night !! Any video showing how low you can dim them?
turn down the dimmer switch......
The right side of the cluster won’t turn on is that a fuse ?? I need help
I'm mainly concerned about getting my air bag light functioning again. Does this kit include that light?
Mike Stephanapolopgas The kit includes LEDs for the standard warning lights. You could use one for the air bag but then you would be short one for the other lights
Does the dimmer still work with these new led bulbs?
+sniperv25 Yes
I bought these lights only one of them work I check them Before installing them the bed thing about it I work so many hours it took me 2 months to get around to it, they sat on shelf in the Box they came in don't waste your money you're better off going in buying the real LED lights at 11 Dollars each at autozone, Read the reviews on their website Regarding their light kits poor quality
Issues here, tool warning lights don't illuminate. and when I turn key on the illum lights go out. CJP says nothign about using load resistors, and I'm sketchy about resistors and soldering when there's a plastic circuit board involved. anybody else?
Nice!!!
Need some help PLEASE. Only the outside led light up. Changed the green filament on the back of the cluster cause it had some burn marks. But everything is new and I can't figure it out please help
It's probably the thingy that's right on top of the whatchamacallit
Do you guys sell a kit for the 99-04 Mustangs?
hi Bill I bought LED lights for my dash gauges and all bulbs in blue ,but it's not working right and my signal lights are not working emergency lights do flash but single lights do not turn on what could it be
big 9 I’m having the same problem
Remember you cannot dim the led lights. I stay with the incandescent bulbs and they last a very long time. I owned my foxbody for 30 yrs and I only changed all bulbs once and that was because I changed the speedo cable and speed sensor when I did a rear gear change.
Don’t need a spot light in my face while driving at night.
I just installed this kit over the weekend which I got from CJ Pony parts. My whole cluster is dead now. The only lights that work are the directionals, the heater panel light, the rest of the illumination lights are dead. Also my gauges crapped out too. The tach and alt gauges work, fuel and temp don't. I tried putting back the original bulbs but the cluster is still dead. And Yes I did check all fuses. None are blown. What a bad idea this was. I should have left the original bulbs alone.
Frederick Gross same happened with me only a couple of the lights actually worked
Ricky Guerrero same thing happened to me, that 180deg thing didn't work
I had the same issue dude. The distributor for these lights has some serious quality control issues. Every single light in my pack was dead.
I had to buy a used cluster from an ebay seller. Then I redid the whole set up using LEDs from superbrightleds.com What a difference a quality bulb makes. When I got the replacement cluster I bench tested outside the car first using the Scott Drake lights and they were horrible when they did light up. The Scott Drakes only light from a small opening in the tip of the light. The Superbrightleds lights have LEDs on 5 sides of the bulb to create illumination and not dark and light spots on the cluster. I tried to complain to CJ Pony parts but they basically said tough luck and refused to give a refund for a crappy product they shouldn't offer to their customers. Also the Scott Drake kit doesn't give lights for the heater panel, Trans shifter, ash tray and console. You end up with a two tone look. better to mix and match at superbrightleds.com and re-do the entire interior including the door lights.
So which ones did you use? 194 LED Bulb - 5 SMD LED Tower - Miniature Wedge Retrofit?
Those 2 bulbs in the middle of the cluster right under the high beam bulb what are those for?
On the back of the instrument cluster, the 3 down the middle, beloow the High Beam are labeled: "Belt, Brake, Amp"
On the front they equal: Seat Belt, Brake (Parking brake on or Love brake fluid), and Battery (not charging I believe)
anybody know the stock type illumination bulb for replacement ?
194
I'm putting those in my fox!!
Nice!
but will those led's work? i see it stops at 93?
Tyrell Hamilton Any 194 style wedge bulb will work with these LEDs.
in this video what size is the right angle driver
We used a T30 torx bit with the right angle driver
What size are the bulbs
My gauges were green. I went to red, but the numbers on the gauges don’t illuminate now? Just the needles, 55, and the orange and redline. How do I fix this?
Ford use a film to color the gauges green, then put a film over the top to allow light through to the areas to be illuminated. It’s impossible to take all the green off. Could you guys make gauge faces without this green film?
what is the phrase ground mean 3:58 and do i need a circuit board where can i get one
The circuit board is part of your gauge cluster and is what the bulbs install into.
is this install similar for sn95 cluster?
Same concept yes, IMHO the cluster in the 94-98 cars is easier to remove
Anything for 05-09
Why aren't the fuel, battery and volt gauge lighting up? (The needle)
The needles only light up based on where the bulb is behind them
I changed out the gauge bulbs on my 93, I had some issues starting my car after. I tried some trouble shooting, but still a no go. Anyone have any suggestions?
I don't know the reason but back in the day I drove my 93 gt with the entire cluster removed. Eventually my battery died. So,the cluster must have something to do with completing circuits. That said,I wonder if you may have disturbed some of the ignition wiring, which runs along the steering tube. Good luck but I bet you'll find it's something simple.
@@satanertau2689 I was thinking the same about the ignition wiring. It actually turned out my car battery was dead. It seemed to fix the issue. Thanks for the reply man.
what color did you guys install here? white bulbs?
White
Nice
Well I know what's going in my 89 gt
I have a question for people thats in to the Fox Body I have a 90 convertible my trunk is rusted out can I replace it? And I don't want to buy another box body I want to fix the one I have up because I seen some online going for 4000 and more I can put that type of money back into the one I have that's how I'm thinking I just need some opinion can someone help me out?
+melmayback go to a junkyard and cut the trunk out of another fox vert. cut way more than you think you need. cut your rusted trunk out, weld in new, seal and paint. your done. less than 100$ at my local pick and pull
Toaster Bunny thank you that's some good information
melmayback It doesn't necessarily have to be a convertible. you can cut out trunk for the notchback too. These are way more plentiful than the convertibles. Convertibles were notchbacks that were modified by ASC then Ford. You may need to trim more metal from notchback trunk but both should be identical parts.
I installed mine in red but my dash does not light up at all but my guages are still working
Davion Kindred did you put the bulbs in the wrong way? With Leds there's only one way they can go
No i put them in the correct way and checked all my fuses but they still did not work i follwed all the steps from this video
Davion Kindred i have the same problem
Ricky Rules
I did these in blue
nice!
how did u do it just put blue lights in
Which is nicer looking a fox or new edge?
Foxbody
New Edge
It looks like the needle on the temp is Getting WAY more light.
Are the LED's adjustable when you turn down the dimmer switch?
+Carlos C.
Yes they are
Sorry I meant fuel, battery and oil pressure.
"Ricky Rulez"
What bucket seats from corbeau are those? And what brackets are you using for mounting it to the car
+Jose Mata They are the Corbeau FX1 seats with Corbeau Fox Body brackets.
+Rick Moyer thank you so much! And are they comfortable for daily? Or should i look into another corbeau series?
+Jose Mata I have never daily driven the car with them in, but I have done trips where I was in them for hours without issue.
not happy with LED TOO MANY HOT SPOTS , AND ONE ALL READY FAILED !! THE SYLVANIA 194 LED R WAY BETTER MORE OF A FLOOD THAN SPOT🤔🤔
Screw that check engine light lol
What a pain in the ass
Such a waste of time installing these led’s , if only the manufacturer had 1 ounce of brain to label them , the best thing to do is improvise and DYI a test socket where you can apply the right voltage to test the LED’s orientation.
