Oh this was very inspiring. Your demonstration gave me the feeling I could do this. I have a Accuquilt Bird DIe that I will try with this. Thank you for Sharing
Some I mount onto canvas so they can be hung like a painting. Here’s an example: www.jomorphett.com/product-page/dove-bird-hand-stitched-artwork-on-canvas
I feel this is almost meditative! I am inspired to try this out as a new hobby - so easy to carry around. No need for huge equipment. I have a question. Where did you get your silicone thimbles?
Yes it is very meditative and relaxing. The supplies are also inexpensive and it’s such a portable activity. I got the thimbles online. They often come in sets with different sizes in each set. Search “silicone finger protectors” - also I really like the “stay on needle pullers” by Dritz.
Just to add a clarification about Frixxon pens: it’s primarily *_temperature_* that determines whether the ink is visible or not. Heat makes the ink turn invisible but when the temperature drops to a certain point, the ink becomes visible again. This was discovered by people who use the pens on paper to take notes. It’s possible that it’s only temperature that determines its visibility because I honestly don’t know if the ink is water soluble and can be washed out or if it isn’t, what effect washing has on the ink. The project is lovely. I love the soft colors and effect of the contrast between the vertical and horizontal stitches in light colored thread (I believe you said the color is ecru).
Thank you! That’s good information to know about the pens. I’ve noticed that sometimes on dyed fabrics it leaves a faint white ‘shadow’ after ironing. I’m guessing it doesn’t wash out completely. To be used with caution I think!
