The fact that you guys converted a 90's vehicle, which IMO, has the same if not more room than your newer class B camper vans, is amazing. I had an econoline van, theyr'e work horses! Keep up the good work and be safe!
My father passed away and I am being forced outta my home.He left me a small amount of cash so I found a van like this not nearly as nice as your but they want 20,000.im disabled but Hopefully I'll get to buy it.Thanks for showing us this amazing Van build.Thats a Super Sweet tiny home.Great job to both of you.i hit like and Subbed
Thanks for sharing. A few helpful hints... A lot of lost space in your kitchen. Maybe should have turned the stove to be east/west. Wondering if the bed could have been lowered. The van is wider as you go down. Water tank could have been mounted underneath. I assume you use the bathroom in a cup or outside? LOL ... great build guys.
I really love your van but What I love the most on this video is you guys you are a lovely 😍 Couple god bless you have a save journey with your wonderful van.
Very nice build and systems! I so enjoy the older vans and body style. So over all the sprinter style vans. All look the same- no character. Plus the cost! Great job!
Agreed! We wanted something that had character! Plus if anything happened to the mechanics of the vehicle, we would be more likely able to fix it ourselves with an older model.
Hmm, I have the same type of van, a Dodge Mark lll conversion van. Right now I can't stand fully upright, but if I can, it would be a life changer, so if you guys are able to, I need figure out how I can too. Nice cabinet & kitchen, did a lot for the space.
The soft roof really helps Sean stand up (I am really short so it doesn't matter to me). Also adding a fan above where you cook helps because it adds a few inches of space
I am not clear. I have the same van, Mark III. Did you change out the top? I may have missed this in the video. Also, what brand is the reverse back up camera. Thanks.
I agree, seems like they are trying to avoid a good walk around, I would think that would be first. It's like if dating online, the girl were to show her armpits and her feet before showing a face or overall shot. 😁
Thanks for the input! We will definitely make sure to include more shots of the exterior in future videos :) I think we focused on the interior mostly because its what we spent the most time renovating and are the most proud of!!
I too, am getting a 1994 Econoline 150. But it is a cargo van=more conversion needed, but it is free! Taking it to trusted mechanic service to go through all mechanical, electrical and suspension. Could be a lot of money to fix. I’ve budgeted $3000 for that. If they quote higher. I won’t keep the van. I’ve been dreaming about van life for several years. Had a 35 foot motorhome and towed car for years. . But I am now solo and that was way more than I needed . I have brutally downsized again. I know what I do and don’t need. Hope to be in the van full time 3 months from now. BTW your van is beautiful. Glad to see 90s models still on the road!
I just updated the website on our UA-cam videos, thank you for letting us know that this was an issue! justynmunro.wixsite.com/commongroundtravels I built the kitchen but unfortunately did not film the build. We are currently doing a second build and filming everything so hopefully that will help you in your build!!
Its a Miroir Micro Pocket Projector (M55)! We bought it from Best Buy Canada and have loved the quality based on the cost. Its a less expensive projector so doesn't have the best resolution but works great for the short distances we use it for! It also plugs in with a micro USB which is important because it means that we don't have to turn on the inverter to run it!
Love the van build! Do you have a link to where you got your 40 AMP MPPT solar charge controller? Also the Renegy 1000 watt inverter? I'm about to start a van build and wanted to check out those products you recommended! :)
Here’s a link to a list of things we used in our van build! We love our solar charge controller but wouldn’t recommend the Renogy inverter/charger because ours recently broke after only six months of use. We did some research and apparently it’s better to have the inverter and charger as separate units. We are replacing the old Renogy inverter with a Kisae 1000 Watt power inverter so hopefully that works better!
Thank you so much! Your support means a lot! Sean is 5'11 and he can stand up straight so its about 6' tall. The fan sits up a bit so a couple of inches are gained there
Thank you so much!!! He can stand up fully because we have a raised fiberglass roof! He is 5'11" and his hair brushes against the ceiling. He has the most amount of room underneath the ceiling fan but because the rest of the ceiling is carpeted, it means he can stand fully upright anywhere. We decided to leave the carpeted ceilings for this reason!
Besides the high-top, I'm assuming it was formerly a wheelchair van. Normally there wouldn't be as much interior height with the top they have but the floor is also dropped a few inches(looks about 4"). At 7:34 you can see how the floor is higher where the front seats are mounted compared to the center area of the van floor. Factory Econolines have a completely flat floor front to back.
Firstly we would recommend that you look for 2500 or 3500 because they have better suspension that can take the weight of a van build. Second, we have the 302 engine but other engines are known to be more reliable, especially the 351. Thirdly, the use of the van in the past is really important. You don’t want a van that was used hard for companies, it’s always better to find a van that was babied. Hope this helps!!

So I'm currently in the process of buying a 2001 e150 with a high top and I feel like I'm getting a similar van. As of right now I can stand up but barely, did you guys take off the original flooring and lower it?
We didn’t but a previous owner might have. We decided to skip insulating the floor so that we could save height. Also previous owners put in the flooring and used vinyl flooring (basically wallpaper for the floors) to keep it low profile! The soft ceiling of the van allows us to both stand up comfortably!

not a proper shower. extended van, maybe. You could do an outdoor shower. If you're super duper handy, you could carve out the floor on the inside, put slit drains and a tub underneath and do a 360 curtain on the inside

We did have a composting toilet in the storage underneath the bed but only had it for emergency situations. We never actually had to use it! As for the shower we got a planet fitness membership which allowed us to shower across Canada and the US. When we were in Mexico we stayed in campsites which all had showers and bathrooms!
Bro Mal we do have an outdoor shower but it would be pretty difficult to put a shower inside this van. The walls aren’t as tall as the cargo vans and it is much shorter. We didn’t have much issue finding showers in Canada, the USA and Baja though!

Auntie Barb
Thank you Aunty Barb! We are going to upload a new one soon with our newest build!
Wow awesome build, I would definitely recommend beefing up the rear suspension a bit if you haven’t done that yet.
Yes! Thank you! We just added a helper leaf spring and a rear sway bar because we too noticed the strain on the back! It’s made such a difference.
alright!! i have a 1994 Fod Econoline that i travel around Mexico in!!
Very nice
Loved this build out!! Your sink and counter top looks very modern and slick, I dig it!!!
Thanks!! Glad you like it!

So many great ideas on this build! Great job guys!

I’m about to buy a 1994 econoline that’s already semi-concerted. I still have a little work to do, my biggest concern is if it breaks down on me.

Very nice build 👍
I'm very interested in how you build out the roof with the solar/ fan I've heard the high tops are difficult to build on
I cant get to your website using the link you posted. I'd like to know where you got the kitchen. I have the same van and I'm working on the build.

Did you build your cabinets or buy them?
We built them ourselves! We’re currently in the process of building a second van and we’re filming it so stay tuned for those videos!!

Yes! We have a website where we list (or tried to list) all of the products that we have used and enjoyed!

I just saw a 1996 Ford Econoline Conversion van with 250kms. Did you all insulate and panel the walls with fabric? If so, how did you do it?
The van came pre insulated and covered in fabric, but it does look like the raised ceiling and fabric were added recently. Not sure how previous owners got that added though. Sorry I can’t help out more!!

Why not AGM batteries?
