A suggestion for you from someone with nearly 20 years of fire service experience: Move your fire extinguisher. Where you have it located now is right between the two main sources of fire in your van and in order to get it in an emergency you may well have to try to reach through the flames.

One suggestion I might make, if nobody has mentioned it to you already, is possibly thinking of moving your fire extinguisher. Currently you have it right in between your propane stove and wood burner, within a foot of each it looks like. Those are the two biggest potential sources of fire hazard in your setup, and if either of them go up the proximity to your extinguisher will make it nearly impossible to get to without severely burning yourself. Aside from that your setup looks really good.
Elias Nightfire in RVs you typically have the fire extinguishers by doors (to be fair it’s just something you run past on your way outside, RVs are tinderboxes and RV fire extinguishers are garbage) but it’s just a safety thing so if you can’t get the fire under control you’re already in the door
One small safety thing: Don't use the fan at the same time as the log burner (not that that you'd ever intentionally do that anyway): The fan drops the air pressure in the cabin, which may result in smoke and fumes being pulled back in through the chimney.
Really nice setup mate. I would consider moving your fire extinguisher to the back of the van. You don’t want to have to go closer to a potential fire to get to the extinguisher. Also if a fire starts while you are outside it will be in the best spot to advance towards the fire.
Only one reason why someone should dislike this is the fact that a propane tank being used inside is extremely dangerous and will kill him someday unfortunately. It’s absolutely forbidden to be used inside like that because it’s been proven to be dangerous. 😞 unfortunately people are watching videos like this for ideas for building. He’s showing us his propane tank inside himself. He showed it without saying anything about the danger ⚠️ and he didn’t think about mentioning that because obviously he thinks it’s safe and just fine. This is one time I wish I wasn’t correct.😔🖖🏼 Please everyone please don’t use propane tanks like that enclosed inside where you live it will definitely kill you! Please please get the hose and store the tanks in a well ventilated compartment that has openings allowing the propane to fall out. It is heavier than air it sinks and pools and waits for a static spark ⚡️. It doesn’t take much if it’s inside a cupboard under a sink and the explosion is inconceivable! I hope people will make sure when developing plans for their build to prepare it for safety. NEVER NEVER NEVER STORE PROPANE TANKS INSIDE ANY VAN TRAILER OR RV OR STRUCTURE AND USE IT WHILE ITS INSIDE! 💥💥💥😢🇺🇸
@@erickamekonapeper4007 I agree. I'd replace the propane set-up with a portable induction cooktop with maybe a dedicated portable solar generator battery system. otherwise it's a nice build.

It's all possible for anyone with the time or money to make it work! Thanks btw! Just wait for my next build, building out a tall big van now and it will have all this and more.
In today’s age, you just need a van to sleep in, a gym membership for working out/cleaning/access to water. And a phone plan with internet and you can do about anything
Yes, my 4G is fast only in certain places (wherever your phone gets 4G, It's the same thing), but I can pick where I stop for the night. I always pick a place with good signal. I can check that on my phone up front, because the Hotspot is using the same towers.

I felt bad thinking he was some loopy liberal type with a sweet van. I have been watching a lot of these videos and folks doing it seem to lean left and if they are armed, they don't mention it really. I personally drive with a pistol in my glove box because you never know when you will deal with crazies or bad people out there. I'd honestly have at least 2 pistols. A small one like he showed for carrying outstide during the summer and as a back up, and a full size one for home defense.
@@yekimhd6180 It's a difference in geography. The UK doesn't really have Wilderness the way the US does, so it can be hard to really wrap your mind around the vast wilderness of the United States. There are lots of places where if someone wanted to make you completely disappear, it wouldn't be overly difficult, and living out of a van with no fixed address makes that easier. Of course in this day and age of digital connectivity it's safer than ever-- even someone living in the back country in a van will be missed if they suddenly go silent, and there will be a geographical log of where he's been thanks to his phone, but when you're out in the wild having some protection is very important. There's a very good chance he'll never run into anyone nefarious in all his travels, depending on where he goes, but even if he doesn't there's the risk of dangerous wildlife. There are places in the US where there are animal risks still, though it's often over-inflated it's not a bad idea to be prepared.
@@peebay3515 idk that it has too much to do with left or right, as much as common sense. Living in the american wilderness out of a van without at least a pistol is suicide
I wouldn't put the fire extinguisher that close to the stove. I would put it close to the exit. If there was a fire, you couldn't get to the extinguisher because that would be where the fire would be. I have a woodstove in my garage, I have my extinguisher on the other side of the garage where the door is.
You beat me to it.... a pressurized vessel isn't best stored directly beside a heat source and you really don't want to store your fire supression device that close to the most potential fire ignition sources... but other than that, this is AWESOME
I would get a big high-resolution picture of an empty van, and glue it to the wall behind the seats, so on casual inspection from the front, it looked like the van was empty for those times when you're trying to get some sleep in a parking lot.
Jokes on the thief, as they would be driving around with a man who is laying comfortably in back waiting with his handgun and access to call the authorities.

I would like to make a safety suggestion move the fire extinguisher to the back of the van since the most likely place to catch fire is gonna the wood burning stove and if u wake up in the middle of the night to ur wood burning stove engulfed in flames it would be more difficult to get ur fire extinguisher in its current place I'd move it by the back door just my suggestion tho I dig the van
Thought for you. put the fire extinguisher as close to doors as possible. You wouldn't want to have to reach INTO the fire to put it out, since it's right in the middle of your combustible sources

A suggestion for you from someone with nearly 20 years of fire service experience: Move your fire extinguisher. Where you have it located now is right between the two main sources of fire in your van and in order to get it in an emergency you may well have to try to reach through the flames.

@@NorthFloridaMan I would think you could get a decent van for 10-15K. Then after another 10K in upgrades, Don't forget that you might want to take the engine out and put something MUCH larger in it. Big rims and huge wheels so this van can practically go Off-Road. (Well at least it could mow the lawn, or do cookies in a field). After the engine you might want to tack on another 10K in upgrade costs. Bringing the final price to produce a super beast bug out van to 45K. You sir, are very self-disciplined and thoughtful. Your equipment is clean and well-ordered. Nice layout

This guy's van is better than my room wtf
I don't know why anyone would dislike this video. You did an amazing job on this build. It fits your personality! Thank you for sharing your home!
This is one time I wish I wasn’t correct.😔🖖🏼
Please everyone please don’t use propane tanks like that enclosed inside where you live it will definitely kill you! 💥💥💥😢🇺🇸

yeah lol, that caught me off guard since I come from the UK where we don't get shot that often.

I have a woodstove in my garage, I have my extinguisher on the other side of the garage where the door is.
