I just picked up a 1991 xr250 with an 88 xr200 engine that I'm building / rebuilding. Great to know about the 230 engine. And what front fender is that ?
Absolutely if you have any questions, feel free to give me a shout. If you check out the other build video that might be helpful as well. Kind of shows everything in detail.
@@shanefoss1731 the progressive springs are about an inch shorter than the stock so pr2 make up some shims that sit at the top of the fork to take up the empty space.
@@SubscibeBikeGiveaway Ahhhh, the shims/spacers are to achieve proper preload. So easy to mix up shims and spacers when talking forks. I should have known as they are damper rod forks without a shim stack. Appreciate the clarification.
Nice build. Bike looks good. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the mods you made are very common and well documented so it isn't as "one of a kind" as you seem to think. I'd venture to say that the Honda XR200 is probably the most common bike build out there in the dirt world right now. If you want to see some REALLY bad ass builds, check out Kevin Vaughn XR200. Its crazy what can be done. One other thing....and you may not have any rocks where you live but......reverse those snail adjusters so the little tab you like isn't hanging down. One rock and the adjuster will be bent in and never really be right again. Just swap sides and it will be the same as the parts bike you showed. Oh....and your chain is waaaaaay too tight. Something is going to break when you compress the rear suspension.
Rich, I will definitely check out his videos. The 200 is a very common bike I won’t dispute that but I do believe mine to be one of the special ones built. Where I ride we don’t have a ton of rocks but i appreciate the insight. When you sit on the bike the chain loosens quite a bit due to the different swing arm.
@@SubscibeBikeGiveaway So many advanced builds specifically on the XR200 right now. The things being done pretty great. Have to agree with Richard though, the XR250R swaps are one of the most common swaps of them.
hi sir can i share with you my xr200 also.been working in canada but i am a filipino got home for vacation and rebuild my xr200 also.thanks and have a nice day sir
Beauty! Recently got an xr250r 2001 and I’m getting ready like that 🙏😎
Thank you! Enjoy the 250
love it, think a new grippy seat cover, and better pegs would be a sweet upgrade for it
Never thought about a new seat cover! Definitely need some bigger pegs
Great work on your build that is probably so much fun to ride
Thanks man it definitely is
The fisheye lens makes it look like a toy.
😂cool scoot.
Thanks my dude
Have the 84 200 RFVC. Duel carb bought in fair cond. Cleaned up great. Little smokey. Play bike
Of all the 200’s I’ve never ridden one but I’d like to. I bet there’s more power with the 4 valve

The 230 will bolt on minus the top motor mounts. That’s a ufo front fender off of eBay i believe it was labeled crf250r
I'll be reviewing this when I eventually get to do my own build. Could I message you with some questions?

Great video, Josh. Front forks a spring swap alone? Same damper rod forks otherwise? Same stock 5W oil?
Hey Shane, just the progress springs and a shim kit. The oil is stock. Rear shock is all stock
@@SubscibeBikeGiveaway Shim kit as in some sort of cartridge emulator, or a modification of the base valve?

‘Shane scrambles to flip his adjusters after so many times pounding them flat after regular rock garden encounters.’ Thank you, Richard. 👏🏽❤️
Could you link the headlight you used? I have a '96 and can't find a headlight under $300.
That’s what it cost for mine
have you considered putting an oil cooler on your XR200. Some are doing that with the claim that the engines will run cooler and last longer.
I have seen people do that! for the riding i do it probably would be over kill. but it is a really cool mod.

Heck yea please do
And you did a smaller front wheel than factory
No the front wheel is 21 inches stock and this is a 21 inch front as wheel off at 86 xr250r
I can’t find the light for my 83 food the life me
They are hard to come by, looking for the bulb or the shroud ?
Really nice work.
Thank you! Cheers!
