My brother, we watched this last night. This was great! The straps idea in securing the tank was pretty awesome, no hassle and totally practical. Love it

You a very Wise Guy Andres,,,,,, I am 69 years old and take after my Dad, thou he was a Master Machinist and Jack of all Trades, I did pick up some of his habits ,, if something broke he usually fixed it or fabricated a replacement and it was always made out of Stainless Steel , Even our above ground swimming pool he made for us Kids in the early 1950's i still have it today and it shines like an Alien Spacecraft.... Am enjoying your Videos they are very informative. If i buy something new and want to keep it looking nice i try to replace all the Iron Nuts and Bolts and Screws with Stainless..... :)

Thank you so much for the kind words. My dad is also a jack of all trades. He built the house we used to live in with his own two hands and restored the one we grew up in himself. I’m happy to have gotten just a little bit of his ability to fix things. He’s always my go to when I have a boat problem I need to solve with manufacturing something.
Thank you so much for watching! 🤙

Awesome video! This is exactly what I was looking for. We have fresh water with hand pump and sink on our deck boat and I was thinking about adding a hose and pump. Thank you for sharing.

Nice work , I have same grady , with hard top . 84 , yesterday I started too install fresh water tank Fuel tank on mine is reversed , Love the idea of fill under seat box , goes right into cavity . Nice too see same boat and getting ideas from others
    .

That’s awesome Alan! This one’s an 85’. Originally, the fuel tank was in the back. From some forum lurking I heard the ride was fairly rough without trim tabs so I figured the weight up front from the tank would help the ride. It definitely did because it’s not as bad as the forums make it sound and I don’t have tabs. It definitely doesn’t like quartering sees 🤣 ouch!
The tank works awesome! And I believe that’s how the fill came from factory so we got lucky with that.
How are you liking yours? We love ours!

Always like the looks of the classic Grady's . Purchased last year after selling a 32 foot cruiser , As long as engine had good compression , 2000, OX 66 , Yamaha 2 stroke , 250 HP , transom was good , good trailer , I purchased , Knowing it's old boat , Having no intentions of doing transom or stringer work , when the time comes , So far so good , I use it when the grandkids and my kids want too go off shore , or few days away with gramps , When I owed the cruiser I got into motorized kayak fishing here in Daytona area , Skinny water , Love it , Grady keeps me busy tinkering , , Next I want too pull the old wiring and get rid of that nest of old wiring not used , What bugs me is the open cavity next too drivers helm , Pulled the center cushions and head in cabin , this way I can stand , Fuel tank is only 28 gallons , Plastic , Don't go far off shore so its plenty for a day ,

That’s a sweet ride Larry! Those things are built like tanks! I’m sure you have plenty of space to add a tank on there! 🤙

The standard layout in this era GW was fresh water tank in front of gas tank. I think original was 10 gal and had a 6 inch screw open port in the floor between the seat support hatches with a coiled hose and spray nozzle. Pump switch is on dash but in my case hoses are all defunct and I have never refurbed the system.

Could you have also fiber glassed the tank to there? So you don’t have to worry with those strips coming loose

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating  3 місяці тому +1

I couldve built a bracket out of composite for sure but that aluminum is strong enough too. I may use heavier stainless steel straps also. Can’t really fiberglass the plastic tank though it just won’t stick. God question though 🤙🛥️🌊

Those metal latches will eat right through the corners. Reposition them to a flat area.

I appreciate how you are trying to show how to do things on a budget, but I'm not too sure how that installation is going to hold up. I think if you fabricated a rectangular "battery tray" out of G10 fiberglass angle strips and resin and then strapped the water tank down, that would be much more permanent. The G10 could be glassed to the hull, spanning across the keel stringer and bonded to the hull at the ends. I would also use rubber neoprene strips wherever the tank is in contact with supports and straps. This is what I am doing to my boat now.
That said, great job on customizing the tank. A freshwater water tank is a really nice feature, especially here in Soth Florida where we are in the saltwater pretty much year around.

Thanks for the tip! I figured I’d try this before I start fiberglassing. Originally I wanted to build a shelf out of composite k cell. I’ll end up doing that if this doesn’t work out.
You’re right Down here one of these tanks is almost necessary!

Thank you so much. I have a Livewell pump in the bilge that splits to two hoses that go to two small livewells on both the port and starboard sides. They came from the factory with a drain on the bottom which flows overboard through a thru hull and an overflow at the top of the well that flows overboard as well. 🤙🛥️🌊
