It's pretty hard to narrow it down to a specific cause, but I definitely ticked all the boxes: smoker, high cholesterol intake, sedentary and a family history that includes strokes for my mother and her mother.
My dad recently had a heart attack, while my mother was out on a trip. It made me panic, ever since I’ve been researching and sending my dad videos, and since he got the stent, surprisingly to me he is good as new with his stents! I’m so happy he is okay. I hope that he will be okay. I don’t want him to die.
I have 2 stents after a heart attack a few years ago (I was 70), and it's been a stellar success.Exercise is a big factor, and I raise a sweat a few times every day.
I was told when I was getting my last four stents, making eight in total, that I was entitled to a bypass operation because I now had eight stents. I was never informed of this before they fitted the stents but during the procedure. I never had a follow-up appointment to see how I was doing. The National Health Service in England is in chaos. I have been waiting four years to have both my shoulders replaced.
@@dougfox9649 I was having my second four stents put in and the doctor who was fitting the stents told me that I actually was entitled to a heart bypass. If that was the case I wonder why I was not given a heart bypass. I was never told the reason.

Thanks a lot dear Brothers for all the encouraging replies n your God gifted experience, it help us, today we had layed to rest one of our friend who was sick for sometimes, it was said he had a 'fatty liver' n he was to under go medical CAG, actually we didn't know much of it, unfortunately after reaching home, after a couple of days, he complaint about severe pain in his heart n collapse n he died, it's so pathetic here in NE-India, he was a young man of 37yrs, I think we don't have such medical- experts and encouraging Doctors in NE-India, specially in Shillong and Guwahati, it's so pathetic, since our Union Govt. made such loud announces of hipper medical facilities, we lost lot of our dear relatives and friends; God help us!
@@jeffewing6660 How did it go??? I had a MASSIVE heart attack despite clean diet, no smoking or drinking, weight training for 40 years, in ripped shape, etc. SHOCKING & DEVASTATING!!!! I died on the table when they began a quadruple bypass so they aborted the procedure & implanted 5 stents. I later went back for an additional blockage. The epitome of great health to the world collapsing around me out of the blue. I’m taking a boatload of meds to prevent any future problems. I’m very interested to know how your procedure went & what the outcome at such a young age! Turns out I did a 23 & Me & found out that my real biological dad & his whole family had serious ♡ issues. @@parkze3855 it went great. They found no blockages at all. The stress test showed obstructions blocking blood flow, but they didn't find anything. I dont get pain very often and the skipping beats has virtually stopped. They said my ejection fraction was low, like 40 percent. Which could lead to heart failure. He said they will keep an eye on it and they adjusted my blood pressure meds. He mentioned medication for it if and when he feels its necessary. I feel good. I honestly feel like God intervened somehow. Thanks for asking and sharing your story. I hope things are ok for you. I also was told that heart disease runs in our family. I don't know any of my family so I cant confirm this.
Today's been 1 week of having 2 Stent placed in my arteries. I Feel better ,looking forward to the next chapter now. Cheers to the Doctors Researcher's ,technicians, nurses and recipients. And Cheers to humanity

I just had a stent put in a few hours ago. Thankfully, I did not have a heart attack, just got light headed and my watch said I was in afib. Three weeks ago I had a routine calcium scan and the doc scheduled me for a stress test, but this happened before I could have it. I understand what just happened after seeing this video. Great video.

Thanks to everyone that shared on this forum. I'm 43 and have had 7 stents put in this year; one in February and 6 in June. Since then I've checked myself back into the hospital at least 5 times; reasons was due to chest pain which consisted of; potassium level dropped to low because of "hydrochloride", muscle spasms due to "Atorvastatin" which can leave body numb/heart pain, and also heart pain from jogging to hard. The first year will be trial in error to see which medications work and don't work well with your body which will give you anxiety and even depression sometimes but if you have a strong will to live you will overcome these small road blocks. Hopefully my journey with stents can help someone else's be a little more manageable. "Iron Sharpens Iron"
I have also been re admitted several times both for angina and extreme light headedness which they believe is due to medication, my meds have been changed 4 times but the light headedness persists, very frustrating when it limits your response to “normal “daily activities by having to repeatedly lay down and wait for the dizziness to ease, unfortunately this happens several times a day! 😒
I had 4 stents put in during 3 procedures. But the doctors here in Japan are much more conservative. I had the first one placed and then was kept in the hospital for about a week. A second stent was then placed, followed by another week of monitoring in the hospital. A third procedure was then done and I was continued to be kept in the hospital. After about another week I was finally released. I was in the hospital for almost a full month. I have the standard insurance provided by the Japanese government and my total cost was less than $2,000 for all the procedures, drugs,band in-patient care. Out of curiosity, how much did your procedure cost?

I just had a LAD widowmaker on 01 March 22 so I really appreciate this information. However, I've gotta ask...starting at timestamp 08:38, did the cameraman start having a heart attack too, was he drunk, or did he hand the camera to the actor because I was getting seasick with all the artistic wobbling camera movements! My widowmaker started at 10 P.M. so my wife drove me to the ER with only about 2 minutes to spare. I literally owe my life to the amazing medical staff at Mt. Timpanogos Hospital in Orem, UT! Once I walked into the ER, I was in the cath lab within what had to be 10-12 minutes! The cardiologist looked at my EKG then yelled, "GO!" and two burly staffers were rushing my bed through the hallway to the OR & 45 minutes later I was in ICU. I'm so profoundly grateful for the advancements in modern medicine; but above all, I'm grateful to a loving Heavenly Father for saving my life &, blessing me with a powerful, level-headed wife who drove like a bat outta... to get me to the hospital & save my life.

Thank you Sir for the Presentation which can be understood by all. 7 weeks back I had Coronary Angiogram thru right radial approach which revealed Double Vessel Coronary Artery Disease. Next day underwent successful PTCA with stent to OM1 & LED. Below are the brief details Lesion 1: Vessel OM1 Location is Proximal and Type is C Severity 70% Lesion 2: Vessel LED Location is Ostio-Proximal and Type is C Severity 99% They have used Xience Alpine Stent. Before the procedure, I used to take Telmisartan 20 mg once a day (Hypertensive since 20 years) and Metformin 500 mg twice a day (since 6 years) and Ecospirin since 6 years (combination of Atorvastatin (10mg) + Aspirin (75mg) . For initial 5 weeks after PTCA, along with the Blood thinners(Ticagrelor 90mg) and Statin(Rosuvastatin 40mg), I used to take Telmisartan 20mg, Metforming 500mg twice a day and plain Aspirin 75mg once a day. 5 weeks after the PTCA procedure my blood pressure has dropped to 80/60 and the Doctor has advised me to stop Telmisartan 20 mg and reduced the Rosuvastatin from 40 to 10mg and has asked me to come back after 3 months. My question is why the drop in blood pressure for which I used to take medication for 20 long Years! Please advise.
Something happened to me. My BP always good and after the stents every morning when I get up 85/56, I get fatigue. My cardiologist still keeps me on two BP lowering medications. One day I stopped taking them for a week and it was the same low. So, if I take the blood pressure medication or not my blood pressure is still low upon getting up for 1-2 hours.

I have not had a stent placed in my heart, I honestly just watched the video to learn more about heart health and what happens when a stent is placed in the heart. This video was very helpful and now I know some tips on how to make sure I keep a good heart health.
Control to much intake Avoid fats Take veggies and fruits 8-10 glasses of water Exercise , but not to much At least 8 hrs sleep at night Have a spirit of peace to lessen stressfull life . God made you wonderful and you can maintain it ...... to have wonderful life!
I had a stent installed about 6 years ago and I have an appointment with the heart doctor every six months and a stress test every 5 years. I take Plavix ( generic ) a full strength aspirin and a few others. My cholesterol stays in the 70's or 80's and my blood pressure is good. I take my blood pressure twice a day and write down the readings so I can give them to my heart doctor every 6 months and he says every thing looks good and at the rate I'm going I won't ever need another stent. He also said that after my surgery there would be no dietary restrictions, not even salt. I do have type 2 diabetes so I am on the usual dietary restrictions for diabetes.
Just because your Dr. said "no dietary restrictions" do you think thats a good idea?..... what in the world do you think got you into (at least partially) that position in the first place?.... not only the heart issue, but also the diabetes, anyone with diabetes is at a greatly increased risk for heart issues.
Mike Sloan There are genetic conditions such as familial hypercholesterolaemia which is a condition in which the body produces to much of the LDL cholesterol (the bad stuff). We don’t know the medical history of the OP other than what they already stated. Given they are a T2DM, they probably already take statins to help lower cholesterol. Also, they probably do eat a fairly healthy diet and take regular exercise. Basically what I’m saying is; rather than jump to the conclusion that this person has made bad dietary choices and as a result, now has T2DM and heart disease, maybe think “I don’t actually know anything about this person. So I’m not going to say anything”
@@JackSinclairRN true, I know nothing about this person, however...the vast majority of type 2 diabetes sufferers in the US anyway have arrived there due to bad choices....... I wasn't criticizing, just trying to give a little advice.... a Dr. telling a heart patient there wont be ANY dietary restrictions is completely ludicrous, which is part of the problem, the Dr's.... they or most of them know little to nothing about nutrition and how it can evoke disease, they just know how to write scripts to attack symptomology and never even give advice to attack the root causes.... the vast majority of these issues are rooted from lifestyle choices, so, if none of that applies to him, he can ignore it, however, maybe it will be advice to prompt someone else (and they know who they are) to take corrective action.

I have Eight stents fitted. I had four put in about twenty years ago, the four more after a heart attack recently. I wonder if eight is the limit or if I can I have more fitted. I am 76 years old and in very poor health.
@@dougfox9649 Yes, I had been suffering from angina for a long time, I had been diagnosed with a heart attack by my GP. The doctors at the hospital said it was stomach problems, which I knew wasn't true. I had my first angiogram after insisting it wasn't stomach problems. The angiogram showed 5 arteries blocked, two at 99%. I was then told by the doctor who did it, that they would now have to take me seriously. I then had my first four stents fitted and the change to my life was unbelievable. The angina vanished, and I was able to go out for a walk, something I hadn't done for years. I often wonder how many people are wrongly diagnosed when sent to a hospital with a suspected heart attack. I have had four heart attacks in total, the last one in October 2021. That is when 4 more stents were fitted. I hope they last as long as the first ones. I like living and I'm not ready to meet my maker just yet.
@@dougfox9649 I have never had a lavish lifestyle, I don't eat fast foods or smoke or drink alcohol. I am overweight. I try to keep my eating under control. The problem is I have many other health problems, including severe arthritis, long-term type one diabetes, liver disease, etc. I walk very badly now and fall easily due to my diabetic legs. Being housebound now keeps me from getting the exercise I need. I try to exercise in my chair. I like living and I hope I can live a few more years.
The very best of luck to you. I personally spoke with a person whose father had 20 stents installed following quadruple bypass surgery. I also know of another person who has had 19 stents installed following quadruple bypass surgery. Hopefully this answers your question, and again, am hoping for the very best.
@@louisd95714 If I was to have that many fitted I wouldn't want to go near a magnet. Stents have saved my life twice, however, they only last a short time as mine did. I would go for a bypass if it happened again.

I've had 3 stents put in. The doctors refused to do bypass surgery because I'm under the age of 50. You did a great job explaining stents in a way everyone understands and no jargon. This is the most informative video I've seen on stents than you.
I have got a stent of 48 mm long, tow months ago. I decided not to take any pills, but I have replaced them with vegetarian diet. Not is allowed to do bypass to people under 50 ? Thanks

And I trying no to do any sin 3 days, but if fall into sin I start again from beginning and so on.. until I get 3 days without any sin . Lot of cycling lot of walking not slow it makes my heart to work hard If it does not get enough oxigin i can feel it in the form of presur on my chest Or in my throat Or under my jaw. @@MikeG-js1jt You can have a stent put in for a few thousand dollars and each additional one a couple more thousand in an Eastern european country. That is the true cost + reasonable hospital markup. Your contributions to the 'free' health care system (govt or private insurance) far exceed that cost. I heard in New york they bill insurance co's 100k for a birth.
I'm 54 year old. Just got discharged from the hospital yesterday after having two stents placed on clogged two major arteries (Widowmaker LAD). Thanks to a persistent doctor at Duke Regional Hospital (Dr Mike) who encouraged me to go for cardiac cath. My symptoms were just a dull chest pain and cold sweats after working on my yard. No family history of heart disease, I don't smoke and I exercise. Initial troponin was normal, Chest X-ray and Echo were normal, EKG was normal. I wanted to go home though I was still having mild chest discomfort but I was advised to stay when the succeeding Troponin levels were high. The doctor said, "If I don't see anything when we do the PCI, I will discharge you but if I see something, you'll stay". True enough, he found out the deadly blockage that would have caused grief to my wife. It's a wake up call and start of a new lifestyle.
I got a stent in recently , I am in my 60s a lifelong non drinker non smoker , sporty , slim with a normal cholesterol count , who also eats healthily . But that did not stop the plaque build up , and although I have walked away with no lifestyle changes required , (just a lifetime of medication ) I had , had a series of checks in my mid 50s that revealed nothing , and sadly no interventions were made. Maybe GP doctors should be intervening when their patients simply get to risky ages irrespective if they ‘appear’ healthy , a daily low dose (doctor prescribed ) aspirin may have saved me getting a stent at all, and all at negligible over the counter cost that would have saved thousands on health professionals having to do that procedure on me , and many more thousands saved on my medication for ( hopefully) decades to come .
Me too, non smoker, non drinker, I was 52. Not to go down that rabbit 🐇 🕳️. I wonder if the vaccine 💉 had anything to do with my blockage and heart attack.
Just had a huge stemi heart attack 5 weeks ago. LAD 100%blocked. My only risk factor is a nicotine gum addiction. I'm 48' slender, not sedentary. Thank God they were able to get a stent in there

I just had my stent put in two weeks ago myself..my left artery was 99 percent block. and I to had a widow maker and I'm only 51..and I'm still scared ..
How's your recovery so far? As long as you've changed your diet to greatly decrease if not eliminate saturated fats, cut your carb intake by 50%, reduced sodium intake and decreased dietary and added sugars, you should be good. Along with that, if there were elevated BP issues, and you were prescribed meds for BP, or lost excess weight or both and are exercising regularly, increased your daily fiber intake and stuck with balanced, well-portioned meals, you will be okay.
About 3 months ago I had 1 stent placed in a lower branch of the main descending artery across my heart....after having experienced the well known crushing feeling across my chest. It took a bit of experimenting with some of the drugs that I came home with , to get on top of indigestion, nausea, bowel pain etc . I also had a strange feeling in my lower throat which my doctor suggested it was reflux......I subsequently had my throat examined along with the stomach to discount any problems there....however in my case it seems that the heart attack did something to my vocal chords because I get a husky voice quite often now....something quite new for me to deal with...especially as I used to sing in a previous life. After much experimenting with my cocktail of heart drugs , for me I found that my body did not cope well with Atorvastatin and Metoprolol and I had to stop these two. I also had a break from Omeprazole ....but lately have resumed with Lansprazole...the same but for some strange manufacturing reason I guess, my digestion system copes with it better. I'm 76.
*🇮🇳I have two stents in my heart fixed in 2016. For 4 months I took some tablets and since then 1 Ecosprin per week. No other medicines. Food is medicine and ofcourse sensible eating, exercises, mental healthy attitude.!💟
We have really similar treatments. I had a heart attack, but the sympthoms where from a realy bad gastritis - and I really don´t know if it was a gastrtis or angina before. Only when the pain seems to be too much for stomach I decided to go the the hospital... So... They sad me that the reflex on diaphragm causes problems with voice and some other difuse sympthoms. I feel very bad with that, 'cose now I don´t be sure if I´m with coronary or stomach problem. By the way... I´m only 46... This is some sad...

My 49 year old husband had 3 stents placed after a heart attack, but they did not work and he was placed on life support. Within a week, he died. I'm still trying to understand why they chose to give him stents instead of bypass surgery.
So sorry to hear of your loss...this is sad. I believe it falls into the hands of the Dr. With little information regarding the initial stents there was no way to know for a second opinion. Today marks 7 years since had my Heart Attack at age 39..at the time a stent was place inside the right ventricle...I do have family History of artery disease..so was aware that one day that day was coming..Seven years in everything be ok...i was healthy..ate healthy and was fit prior to and after my Heart attack.but sometimes genetics gets you in other ways..
Did anyone commenting here who are taking only one antiplatelet therapy have any bleeding side effects from the drug? My husband had a subarachnoid hemorrhage last November and had stent-assisted coiling procedure done, and was put on dual antiplatelet therapy, 2 months later, while he was still in the hospital, he had a rebleed in the same aneurysm. Then he developed major bleeding in his upper GI tract, and bled so much, he became anemic, twice. He was in the hospital 6 months. He survived all the complications he had, and he is home now, 100% recovered. But he still has some side effects from the lower dose antiplatelet he is still on, like bruising, nosebleeds, itchy all over. So he's doing a lot of research on this. He is concerned about bleeding. But at the same time, he doesn't want to clot in the stent either. He doesn't know what would be worse.
I’m not getting a lot of doctor input. I’m a VA patient. I had a heart attack 27 days ago. I had two stents put in. My BP is often below 90…as low as 78/57. I can’t have an echo and blood work till Nov 24th per VA drs orders. I have daily chest pain, dizziness, neck pain, I have no energy and have asked for the echo to be moved up. They have the openings but the doctor told them Nov 24th! I don’t think I’ll make it that long. I’m not sure I care.

The vascular surgeon is going to place a stent in my calcified vein that supplies my intestines with blood because now, every time I have eaten a hot meal, I have terrible lower abdominal cramps. I have had severe abdominal pain after meals for over 4 years and they told me that I had an irritable bowel, but after a recent CT scan it turned out not to be so. I hope my abdominal cramps are done after placing that stent.

I died on the table when they began a quadruple bypass so they aborted the procedure & implanted 5 stents. I later went back for an additional blockage. The epitome of great health to the world collapsing around me out of the blue. I’m taking a boatload of meds to prevent any future problems. I’m very interested to know how your procedure went & what the outcome at such a young age! Turns out I did a 23 & Me & found out that my real biological dad & his whole family had serious ♡ issues. @@parkze3855 it went great. They found no blockages at all. The stress test showed obstructions blocking blood flow, but they didn't find anything. I dont get pain very often and the skipping beats has virtually stopped. They said my ejection fraction was low, like 40 percent. Which could lead to heart failure. He said they will keep an eye on it and they adjusted my blood pressure meds. He mentioned medication for it if and when he feels its necessary. I feel good. I honestly feel like God intervened somehow. Thanks for asking and sharing your story. I hope things are ok for you. I also was told that heart disease runs in our family. I don't know any of my family so I cant confirm this.

Had unstable Agida which progressed to a heart attack 3 days ago and an emergency room admittance. This videos explanation was spot on in each chapter along with post procedure medication instruction - great delivery by the spokesperson.
I just had a stent put in a few hours ago. Thankfully, I did not have a heart attack, just got light headed and my watch said I was in afib. Three weeks ago I had a routine calcium scan and the doc scheduled me for a stress test, but this happened before I could have it. I understand what just happened after seeing this video. Great video.

Thanks to everyone that shared on this forum. I'm 43 and have had 7 stents put in this year; one in February and 6 in June. Since then I've checked myself back into the hospital at least 5 times; reasons was due to chest pain which consisted of; potassium level dropped to low because of "hydrochloride", muscle spasms due to "Atorvastatin" which can leave body numb/heart pain, and also heart pain from jogging to hard. The first year will be trial in error to see which medications work and don't work well with your body which will give you anxiety and even depression sometimes but if you have a strong will to live you will overcome these small road blocks. Hopefully my journey with stents can help someone else's be a little more manageable. "Iron Sharpens Iron"
I have also been re admitted several times both for angina and extreme light headedness which they believe is due to medication, my meds have been changed 4 times but the light headedness persists, very frustrating when it limits your response to “normal “daily activities by having to repeatedly lay down and wait for the dizziness to ease, unfortunately this happens several times a day! 😒
I had 4 stents put in during 3 procedures. But the doctors here in Japan are much more conservative. I had the first one placed and then was kept in the hospital for about a week. A second stent was then placed, followed by another week of monitoring in the hospital. A third procedure was then done and I was continued to be kept in the hospital. After about another week I was finally released. I was in the hospital for almost a full month. I have the standard insurance provided by the Japanese government and my total cost was less than $2,000 for all the procedures, drugs,band in-patient care.

I just had a LAD widowmaker on 01 March 22 so I really appreciate this information.
However, I've gotta ask...starting at timestamp 08:38, did the cameraman start having a heart attack too, was he drunk, or did he hand the camera to the actor because I was getting seasick with all the artistic wobbling camera movements!
My widowmaker started at 10 P.M. so my wife drove me to the ER with only about 2 minutes to spare.
I literally owe my life to the amazing medical staff at Mt. Timpanogos Hospital in Orem, UT!
Once I walked into the ER, I was in the cath lab within what had to be 10-12 minutes! The cardiologist looked at my EKG then yelled, "GO!" and two burly staffers were rushing my bed through the hallway to the OR & 45 minutes later I was in ICU.
I'm so profoundly grateful for the advancements in modern medicine; but above all, I'm grateful to a loving Heavenly Father for saving my life &, blessing me with a powerful, level-headed wife who drove like a bat outta... to get me to the hospital & save my life.

Thank you Sir for the Presentation which can be understood by all. 7 weeks back I had Coronary Angiogram thru right radial approach which revealed Double Vessel Coronary Artery Disease. Next day underwent successful PTCA with stent to OM1 & LED. Below are the brief details
Lesion 1:
Vessel OM1
Location is Proximal and Type is C
Severity 70%
Lesion 2:
Vessel LED
Location is Ostio-Proximal and Type is C
Severity 99%
They have used Xience Alpine Stent.
Before the procedure, I used to take Telmisartan 20 mg once a day (Hypertensive since 20 years) and Metformin 500 mg twice a day (since 6 years) and Ecospirin since 6 years (combination of Atorvastatin (10mg) + Aspirin (75mg) .
For initial 5 weeks after PTCA, along with the Blood thinners(Ticagrelor 90mg) and Statin(Rosuvastatin 40mg), I used to take Telmisartan 20mg, Metforming 500mg twice a day and plain Aspirin 75mg once a day.
5 weeks after the PTCA procedure my blood pressure has dropped to 80/60 and the Doctor has advised me to stop Telmisartan 20 mg and reduced the Rosuvastatin from 40 to 10mg and has asked me to come back after 3 months.
My question is why the drop in blood pressure for which I used to take medication for 20 long Years! Please advise.
Something happened to me. My BP always good and after the stents every morning when I get up 85/56, I get fatigue. My cardiologist still keeps me on two BP lowering medications. One day I stopped taking them for a week and it was the same low. So, if I take the blood pressure medication or not my blood pressure is still low upon getting up for 1-2 hours.

I have not had a stent placed in my heart, I honestly just watched the video to learn more about heart health and what happens when a stent is placed in the heart. This video was very helpful and now I know some tips on how to make sure I keep a good heart health.

I had a stent installed about 6 years ago and I have an appointment with the heart doctor every six months and a stress test every 5 years. I take Plavix ( generic ) a full strength aspirin and a few others. My cholesterol stays in the 70's or 80's and my blood pressure is good. I take my blood pressure twice a day and write down the readings so I can give them to my heart doctor every 6 months and he says every thing looks good and at the rate I'm going I won't ever need another stent. He also said that after my surgery there would be no dietary restrictions, not even salt. I do have type 2 diabetes so I am on the usual dietary restrictions for diabetes.
Just because your Dr. said "no dietary restrictions" do you think thats a good idea?..... what in the world do you think got you into (at least partially) that position in the first place?.... not only the heart issue, but also the diabetes, anyone with diabetes is at a greatly increased risk for heart issues.
Mike Sloan There are genetic conditions such as familial hypercholesterolaemia which is a condition in which the body produces to much of the LDL cholesterol (the bad stuff). We don’t know the medical history of the OP other than what they already stated. Given they are a T2DM, they probably already take statins to help lower cholesterol. Also, they probably do eat a fairly healthy diet and take regular exercise. Basically what I’m saying is; rather than jump to the conclusion that this person has made bad dietary choices and as a result, now has T2DM and heart disease, maybe think “I don’t actually know anything about this person. So I’m not going to say anything”
@@JackSinclairRN true, I know nothing about this person, however...the vast majority of type 2 diabetes sufferers in the US anyway have arrived there due to bad choices....... I wasn't criticizing, just trying to give a little advice.... a Dr. telling a heart patient there wont be ANY dietary restrictions is completely ludicrous, which is part of the problem, the Dr's.... they or most of them know little to nothing about nutrition and how it can evoke disease, they just know how to write scripts to attack symptomology and never even give advice to attack the root causes.... the vast majority of these issues are rooted from lifestyle choices, so, if none of that applies to him, he can ignore it, however, maybe it will be advice to prompt someone else (and they know who they are) to take corrective action.

I have Eight stents fitted. I had four put in about twenty years ago, the four more after a heart attack recently. I wonder if eight is the limit or if I can I have more fitted. I am 76 years old and in very poor health.

@@dougfox9649 Yes, I had been suffering from angina for a long time, I had been diagnosed with a heart attack by my GP. The doctors at the hospital said it was stomach problems, which I knew wasn't true. I had my first angiogram after insisting it wasn't stomach problems. The angiogram showed 5 arteries blocked, two at 99%. I was then told by the doctor who did it, that they would now have to take me seriously. I then had my first four stents fitted and the change to my life was unbelievable. The angina vanished, and I was able to go out for a walk, something I hadn't done for years. I often wonder how many people are wrongly diagnosed when sent to a hospital with a suspected heart attack. I have had four heart attacks in total, the last one in October 2021. That is when 4 more stents were fitted. I hope they last as long as the first ones. I like living and I'm not ready to meet my maker just yet.
@@dougfox9649 I have never had a lavish lifestyle, I don't eat fast foods or smoke or drink alcohol. I am overweight. I try to keep my eating under control. The problem is I have many other health problems, including severe arthritis, long-term type one diabetes, liver disease, etc. I walk very badly now and fall easily due to my diabetic legs. Being housebound now keeps me from getting the exercise I need. I try to exercise in my chair. I like living and I hope I can live a few more years.
The very best of luck to you. I personally spoke with a person whose father had 20 stents installed following quadruple bypass surgery. I also know of another person who has had 19 stents installed following quadruple bypass surgery. Hopefully this answers your question, and again, am hoping for the very best.
@@louisd95714 If I was to have that many fitted I wouldn't want to go near a magnet. Stents have saved my life twice, however, they only last a short time as mine did. I would go for a bypass if it happened again.

Your contributions to the 'free' health care system (govt or private insurance) far exceed that cost. I heard in New york they bill insurance co's 100k for a birth.

I'm 54 year old. Just got discharged from the hospital yesterday after having two stents placed on clogged two major arteries (Widowmaker LAD). Thanks to a persistent doctor at Duke Regional Hospital (Dr Mike) who encouraged me to go for cardiac cath. My symptoms were just a dull chest pain and cold sweats after working on my yard. No family history of heart disease, I don't smoke and I exercise. Initial troponin was normal, Chest X-ray and Echo were normal, EKG was normal. I wanted to go home though I was still having mild chest discomfort but I was advised to stay when the succeeding Troponin levels were high. The doctor said, "If I don't see anything when we do the PCI, I will discharge you but if I see something, you'll stay". True enough, he found out the deadly blockage that would have caused grief to my wife. It's a wake up call and start of a new lifestyle.
I got a stent in recently , I am in my 60s a lifelong non drinker non smoker , sporty , slim with a normal cholesterol count , who also eats healthily .
But that did not stop the plaque build up , and although I have walked away with no lifestyle changes required , (just a lifetime of medication ) I had , had a series of checks in my mid 50s that revealed nothing , and sadly no interventions were made.
Maybe GP doctors should be intervening when their patients simply get to risky ages irrespective if they ‘appear’ healthy , a daily low dose (doctor prescribed ) aspirin may have saved me getting a stent at all, and all at negligible over the counter cost that would have saved thousands on health professionals having to do that procedure on me , and many more thousands saved on my medication for ( hopefully) decades to come .

Just had a huge stemi heart attack 5 weeks ago. LAD 100%blocked. My only risk factor is a nicotine gum addiction. I'm 48' slender, not sedentary. Thank God they were able to get a stent in there

How's your recovery so far? As long as you've changed your diet to greatly decrease if not eliminate saturated fats, cut your carb intake by 50%, reduced sodium intake and decreased dietary and added sugars, you should be good. Along with that, if there were elevated BP issues, and you were prescribed meds for BP, or lost excess weight or both and are exercising regularly, increased your daily fiber intake and stuck with balanced, well-portioned meals, you will be okay.

About 3 months ago I had 1 stent placed in a lower branch of the main descending artery across my heart....after having experienced the well known crushing feeling across my chest. It took a bit of experimenting with some of the drugs that I came home with , to get on top of indigestion, nausea, bowel pain etc . I also had a strange feeling in my lower throat which my doctor suggested it was reflux......I subsequently had my throat examined along with the stomach to discount any problems there....however in my case it seems that the heart attack did something to my vocal chords because I get a husky voice quite often now....something quite new for me to deal with...especially as I used to sing in a previous life. After much experimenting with my cocktail of heart drugs , for me I found that my body did not cope well with Atorvastatin and Metoprolol and I had to stop these two. I also had a break from Omeprazole ....but lately have resumed with Lansprazole...the same but for some strange manufacturing reason I guess, my digestion system copes with it better. I'm 76.

We have really similar treatments. I had a heart attack, but the sympthoms where from a realy bad gastritis - and I really don´t know if it was a gastrtis or angina before. Only when the pain seems to be too much for stomach I decided to go the the hospital... So... They sad me that the reflex on diaphragm causes problems with voice and some other difuse sympthoms. I feel very bad with that, 'cose now I don´t be sure if I´m with coronary or stomach problem. By the way... I´m only 46... This is some sad...

My 49 year old husband had 3 stents placed after a heart attack, but they did not work and he was placed on life support. Within a week, he died. I'm still trying to understand why they chose to give him stents instead of bypass surgery.
So sorry to hear of your loss...this is sad. I believe it falls into the hands of the Dr. With little information regarding the initial stents there was no way to know for a second opinion.

Today marks 7 years since had my Heart Attack at age 39..at the time a stent was place inside the right ventricle...I do have family History of artery disease..so was aware that one day that day was coming..Seven years in everything be ok...i was healthy..ate healthy and was fit prior to and after my Heart attack.but sometimes genetics gets you in other ways..
Im 38 and getting a heart catheter next week. Nervous as can be. Any advice?

Did anyone commenting here who are taking only one antiplatelet therapy have any bleeding side effects from the drug? My husband had a subarachnoid hemorrhage last November and had stent-assisted coiling procedure done, and was put on dual antiplatelet therapy, 2 months later, while he was still in the hospital, he had a rebleed in the same aneurysm. Then he developed major bleeding in his upper GI tract, and bled so much, he became anemic, twice. He was in the hospital 6 months. He survived all the complications he had, and he is home now, 100% recovered. But he still has some side effects from the lower dose antiplatelet he is still on, like bruising, nosebleeds, itchy all over. So he's doing a lot of research on this. He is concerned about bleeding. But at the same time, he doesn't want to clot in the stent either. He doesn't know what would be worse.

I’m not getting a lot of doctor input. I’m a VA patient. I had a heart attack 27 days ago. I had two stents put in. My BP is often below 90…as low as 78/57. I can’t have an echo and blood work till Nov 24th per VA drs orders. I have daily chest pain, dizziness, neck pain, I have no energy and have asked for the echo to be moved up. They have the openings but the doctor told them Nov 24th! I don’t think I’ll make it that long. I’m not sure I care.
Curious...anyone that has had this procedure, how much did it cost?
For me, I had 4 stents put in during 3 procedures. But the doctors here in Japan are much more conservative. I had the first one placed and then was kept in the hospital for about a week. A second stent was then placed, followed by another week of monitoring in the hospital. A third procedure was then done and I was continued to be kept in the hospital. After about another week I was finally released. I was in the hospital for almost a full month. I have the standard insurance provided by the Japanese government and my total cost was less than $2,000 for all the procedures, drugs, and in-patient care.

The vascular surgeon is going to place a stent in my calcified vein that supplies my intestines with blood because now, every time I have eaten a hot meal, I have terrible lower abdominal cramps. I have had severe abdominal pain after meals for over 4 years and they told me that I had an irritable bowel, but after a recent CT scan it turned out not to be so. I hope my abdominal cramps are done after placing that stent.
