Great video ,I prefer the shirted elastic. Thankyou. Jo
Glad to hear you love the video ❤️
Wow! great video, so helpful. Just subscribed. Keep up the good work 👍
This is my first video of yours I've watched and I subscribed immediately! I love how clearly you speak (ESL speaker here) and actually demonstrate the stitching. I have a ton of cotton I want to use to create clothing out of but I'm very much a beginner, so creating darts and all that seems a bit daunting. Am going to use the shirring technique to perhaps make some simple summer tops with a bit of stretch in the back. Thank you so much! 🧡
That is so wonderful to hear, I’m so happy you enjoy this content and found this tutorial useful and well explained for you. ❤️ as a beginner shirring is great because what you make will naturally fit to your body 💕
I love your shirring tutorials Tammy. Do you ever do shirring on a stretch/jersey fabric? Thanks for sharing 😻
Thank you! I'm so glad to hear that ❤️ I haven't tried on jersey fabric yet!
Great demo Tammy. You’re a wonderful teacher 😊
Thanks so much Cath! So glad you found it helpful ❤️
Like the second one 👍
Thank you for your clear, easy to follow tutorial. I find the elastic thread method to be much neater and uniform, so I will likely use that for a bodice or dress front. However, while I don’t love the quarter inch elastic method, I’m glad you made me aware of it because that’s the ideal thing where I want more stable shirring,, such as the top of strapless top; or the waistline of pants or skirt/dress. Thank you. Looking forward to more from you.
So glad you love the tutorial Margaret! You can also try the quarter inch elastic by sewing a casing and then feeding that in instead of sewing directly onto the fabric. It was fun try those two ways but this other way could be a better way of using quarter inch elastic and might be neater?
Very helpful tutorial! Thank you so much!
So glad you loved the video ❤️
Love this video, so helpful! When winding on the bobbin do you pull it tight or leave it slack whilst winding - I've seen people do different things and I'm confused on the best way to do it?
I feel like it’s personal preference! I always pull the thread a bit so it’s tighter but not too tight either 😂 I’m so glad you love the tutorial! ❤️
Will shirring make the dress smaller?
Question. After shirring my bobbin casing would not tighten for regular thread to finish top. Did I stretch it out with elastic thread and need to get another one ?
I am
So frustrated. I have a singer 2277. I have tried all of your tips tricks videos. I’ve changed stitch length to 3-4, tension from 5 all way up to 9. Stretching flat as I sew , tightened and loosen bobbin casing, light weight fabric and still it is not working fabric shir is loose and or top thread popping ? Do you have any suggestions or does some machines just not shir?
Great demonstration. Thank you
So glad you loved the tutorial ❤️
