      But the truth is even worse! I went crappie fishing three times with the boat and livescope and blanked all 3 times! This dinkfest is actually my victory! :)

    Funny ending was a nice touch. You inspired me to try heading to a water retention reservoir 3 blocks from my house. I caught about 30 to 40 crappie dinks during a single outing there about 20 years ago. During the lock down it would be nice to fish a little just to get out of the house. Fished last Sunday at Silver Springs for the Illinois stocked trout and got nothing for 6 1/2 hours of trying. Went home skunked. Worst part of all was I heard several fisherman say, what the heck their buddies had slayed them Friday and Saturday was fair too and Sunday was dead. I only saw 2 trout landed and saw one guy with 2 on a stringer. It sucked. It was a beautiful day though.

      @@ifishcatfish Trout are a bitch. Very persnickety fish to go after. I have way better luck on Devils Kitchen is southern Illinois for trout. It's the only lake in Illinois you can fish for trout all year round.

    Excellent vid!
    Forgive me if you’ve addressed this before in previous videos, but what is your opinion on 1 piece vs 2 piece rods? Advantages/Disadvantages?
    Btw...purchased a Daiwa Exceler LT 2500 (I have a preference for a screw in handle) after watching your reviews. Was a bit hesitant to go 2500 over a 1000. Anyway, you were right. This real is so light. I don’t think there’s any need to go smaller. Keep up the great content!

      on high-end rods the connections are so good that it makes no difference. On cheaper rods or even expensive non-japanese rods it is not so good. Sometimes I just glue the two pieces on day one and never touch them again and use it as one piece. If u keep folding it, cheap connections will deteriorate. Japanese rods usually have high quality connections even in the low end rods though. This daiwa Presso rod has EXCELLENT connection. It has the same connection as in my $300 daiwa carp rods.
      So the answer to your question will vary rod by rod. On daiwa presso i guarantee the two pieces work as one piece and durability is amazing. On the other hand i will NEVER EVER buy a two piece Ugly Stik - those are just glass going on top of glass and paint, where paint falls off quickly and you are left with bad connection. Even glass wears off. Expensive connections have special surface on the connection that is very hard and non sticky - like teflon.

    Nice!! How do you estimate the leader length?

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  4 роки тому

      u mean how deep I fish? I didn't have leader on the rod that got all the fish. I am not very scientific about it. If the water is a little stained, i will catch the same number of fish on straight braid. But now its still cold and pretty clear, so i will put like 2 feet of clear leader up front..

      both are nice. It's so easy to spontaneously decide to go fishing and hop int he car and be there , fish 1 hour, and go back home. Towing boats and dealing with marina ramps takes so much time and there is often a line here in Chicago..

      i_fish freshwater boating is easier. I fished with my coworker. In the raritan bay for blue fish and stripers. His boat was on shore, go to gas station, fill up gas, move my gear out to his boat, his gear, guide him into the water, stay with boat, fish, wait with boat, get car, winch in, drain boat, hose down boat, hose down all fishing gear with freshwater, wait in line to run freshwater through motor, park boat. Omg.. it was way too much. I now fish jetties and beaches for flukes, for saltwater it took way too much time.
