  • I wanted it to be a simple transmission drain and fill, but NOOOO it has to be something so much harder than that. Come along today as I do a drain and fill on our 2011 Dodge Journey R/T with the 62TE 6 speed transmission. It is an important part of regular maintenance to perform a filter change and refill the transmission with 5.5 liters of fresh ATF+4.
This was supposed to be a quick drain and fill, but turned out to be a headache and a half. Come learn from my mistakes so you can do better when you change your fluid. If anything, come get a good laugh at my expense. Thanks for watching Copenhagen Blue!

The gasket maker I used said that it was ready to go back in the service five minutes after installation. I think I took too long, putting the band back on. The gasket maker was dry when I took it off. But I’ve been under there since and the rubber gasket doesn’t have a drop leaking, so I’m thinking it’s good.

@@copenhagenblue8417 sometimes silicone can affect and not bond to another rubber.

That's what my thought was too. I just didn't feel the rubber would be good enough. I'd have liked a metal one or cork or something. But I guess it's a lesson learned. :-)
