- Out at the Hawes trail system just north of Mesa, AZ. This is a pretty rad zone that has been getting a lot of love recently. It's a nice contrast from SoMo as Hawes is not as raw and rocky. In this we ride the newer trail Big Sister which seems to be a bit hit with riders. It's a blue flow trail that was machine built. It's easily assessed from the parking lot and convenient to lap. You get about a mile of flowy downhill. Although it was built by machines it still has kind of a hand cut feel as it mostly uses the natural terrain. There's not any big berms or big jumps but the corners hold ya and there's airtime to be had. Really fun trail and it's rad that this trail is here in Phoenix.
Next is Red Mountain Rush. This trail rips! All hand cut but still has some good flow along with techy sections. There's some pretty tight corners and skinny benches but the speed you can get on this trail is so rad. It's a pretty long descent too. I was a big fan of this trail! Also the views and landscape here are super cool.
There's plenty more to ride out at Hawes too that we didn't get too. I will for sure be hitting these trails again and exploring more trails out here next time I'm in town. I love South Mountain with it's raw and gnarly trails but Hawes has some super fun and well built stuff to ride. Hawes is also very much more beginner friendly but still has the gnar for all skill levels. If in the area the Hawes trail system is a must ride.

Haha will do 🤙🏻
Awesome riding! 💪💪💪 I ride the same trails but not at that speed or I'd fly off the trail; still lots to learn.
Thanks! Keep at it! Some awesome trails out there 🤙🏻
Man, those trails look like a blast. Have you had any cactus mishaps? Some of them look really close to the trail. 😀
Super fun trail! I grassed a cactus with my arm at Mount Lemmon a couple of years ago and got a few needles stuck in my arm but that’s it. I’ve been lucky out in AZ though. No real falls or bad cactus mishaps. Just a fall on all those rocks can be pretty devastating
Was just down there on the same stuff. I've done a few places around PHX and Sedona, and RMR with Twisted/Little Sister were by far the highest fun factor I've done around PHX! Ride-ability even better than Sedona, although the Sedona views are off the charts.
Yeah totally I would agree with all that!
Great video. I like that spot more than south mountain. Did you hit up the NRA jumps at Hawes? Cool area
I like both for different reasons. By the time we got over to NRA I was out of water and super hungry so I just kept going to the car. I’ll be back though. Still a lot trail I need to hit there
This alone makes me want to move. Still have two feet of snow on the ground. Won't see green anytime soon 😂
Hahaha yeah this winter has been insane
