- Doesn't get much better than new bike day, am I right?!
Recently got a pretty screaming deal and a barely used Specialized Status 160 from a friend (thanks Eric) and I'm out at Spirit Mtn Bike Park in Duluth, MN to break it in with my wife that I so fondly refer to as J Girl.
I've been interested to try a mullet setup for some time now and I like the geo on the Status, manly for it's short chainstays. I like to jump and play around on my bike but I also like raw rocky tech so I think this bike is a good do all fit for me.
Since I wasn't riding the Rustler I threw my fork, front wheel and brake on Jess's bike to give here some more travel and a better tire and brake. This must have felt good and gave here confidence because she crushed everything we rode there including some double black trails. Really proud of the shredder she is.
Jess and I both love Spirit and were stoked to receive some heavily discounted tickets from them. Thank you!
I had done one ride on this bike before this out at the Afton bike park project that we at Pathfinder built. As a little bonus I give you a sneak peak of some of what's there. Hopefully it'll be open mid September for the public to enjoy and shred!

Congrats on the new shred sled! The Pathfinder badge on the headtube is a nice touch. Mullet definitely suits your riding style, able to plow through the chunk up North better but still able to throw the back end of the bike out easier. I don't think the short chainstays are a knock at all, if you prioritize all out speed & stability over fun & stylin' Specialized makes the Enduro for that purpose. J Girl charging hard down the mountain with the Zeb Ultimate and improved tire and brakes too! Afton looks incredible, can't wait to ride there someday when Pathfinder is finished!

Unlike public parks, there may be liability issues to be dealt with first.

I love the shorter rear as well on my Status, hasn't been a draw back at all. It absolutely ate everything down in Crested Butte...also, cannot wait for Afton

Those Afton trails look sweet!!!🤙Been eyeing the Status 160 for a while. Curious how it pedals for you? I've read its a bit of a bear uphill. And with the metro trails, might be a deal breaker.
I was surprised at how well it seemed to climb actually. I also really don’t care about pedal efficiency though. I just chill and climbs anyways

There’s multiple jumplines for all skill levels and yes there are some much bigger jumps than what’s at Carver

Hopefully a good maintenance plan in place with this private park with lots of dirt kickers/landings needing to be kept up to par. Looks awesome!

That’s a good question. Was supposed to be this weekend but not sure what they’re plan is now. Hopefully soon though

No but the pedal back up is pretty easy. It’s also free
