I recorded a podcast this week with VitalMTB- bit.ly/VitalIns...
Geronimo is regarded as one of the best DH tracks in the South Mountain Park, located in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona. #followcamfriday giving the people something to stare at while we are collectively spending more time inside, with less work and activities to occupy our time. This was filmed a few weeks back with Lars Romig. A pleasant reminder to keep the spirits and the health levels up! If you are allowed outside, please ride your bike and stay away from the crowds.
I hope everyone is keeping the spirits up and staying healthy. Here is something to help pass the time if you are on lockdown.
Nate, after messing around with Netflix, old WC race footage, red bull media, etc., your playlists are the best thing to pass time while suffering on the trainer! Oh, and finally able to give the new 130LR a proper rip this weekend. Cheers and stay healthy!
Gifford Pinchot and Mt. Hood National Forest are closed until at least May 8. What am I to do? There is no better way to be socially distant than to be on my mountain bike. A bit sad, but Arizona sure looks good today, thanks as always. It’s hard to watch when you want to DO! I love your dog. The dogs hanging out put a smile on my face. Hooray for dogs!
Glad to see you were keeping good social distance 👍👍👍
Thanks coz understanding what we felt in corona lockdown nate
The desert is so pretty this time of the year with all the wild flowers. Thanks Nate!
Loveing that drone footage. What a great addition. It gives such a unique view of the terrain.
I can't believe how well it followed them! game changer.
Anybody know what drone that was?
@@nickjonsson2992 He has a link in the description of the gear he uses... click it
SisterShred who is handling the drone?
@@omicronceti6063 I believe Nate had the drone in "follow" mode.
Good stuff boys. The drone coverage is amazing, love how you mix it in with the gopro footage. Still blown away how it just follows along with you guys keeping its eye on you. Lol!
Pete looks like he was ready to take the wheel and give you a chance to get some shut eye!
Rip it up!
Row-dee! Nice editing, too. Very cool to hear the POV bike sounds synced to the drone footage - which seems to keep getting better!
Nice trick for sure
i have been stuck in the house for 3 weeks and thanks to you and your videos i feel normal. it helps me to calm down , stay out of depression
Hang in there friend 🤙🏼
The editing and film quality in this is unreal! Loving the drone angles!
I will have to hit this next time I’m in that area.
Beautifully shot. Love this channel.
Nate, some of the best, if not the best mtb videos out there. Can't pin it down to what but something around the mixed content, sound & implied humour. I don't know what but you're nailing it for me.
Phenomenal riding + beautiful scenery = INCREDIBLE!!!
Absolutely love this trail! There's one switchback that gives me grief and y'all just went thru it like nothing. Thanks to you two I learned a better line to attack it. Cheers!
Nice trail! Drone is a great idea. Beautifull point of view. Can I ask you what tires have you? Thx !
I am running Assegai, Aggressor combo for this.
Great choice! Thx for your answer!
Ciao Nate, un saluto da Taranto Italy. E' bello vederti scendere su questi sentieri con tanta facilita', noi qui purtroppo ancora in quarantena.
Great video. That little switchback towards the end looked TIGHT. 4 more days and I clear my official 14 day quarantine. Thanks for keeping up the videos 👍🏻
Keep the levels up friend.
Awesome video, the dirt looked prime!! I'm amazed at how well the drone did, this looks to be a game changer, I would love to have something like this that could follow this well.
Game changer for sure.
DUDE... saucey edit as usual. Keep feeding us these anti-depressants, the natural non-gmo good kind!
Thanks for the new video every friday. Your playlist - specially the forest ride - helps me to keep motivation on the trainer. Hope your going well, stay healthy.
Keep the health levels up friend. Thanks for watching.
This trail looks like a good time. 4:49 I feared for the drones life.
This is relatively tame for a ride with Lars! Thanks for filming and posting good stuff!
Man your footage is so awesome especially with the drone. This has become my favourite channel and why I decided to support you on Patreon.
Cheers from the Rocky Mountains in Canada
Thanks for the support friend 👊🏼 Much appreciated!
Another sick video. The drone footage, the audio, everything. Amazing.
Thank you Nate for keeping me motivated to ride every day
That drone view is killing my heart nate...nice editing on this video...be safe my friend....by the way it is a nice track
South mountain is amazing coming from a phornix local it's all u could.ever want for in a desert trail!
Lars is a baaaaadddd maaannn….Great video!💯👍🏼
Great footage. Enjoyed the drone footage with the buzzing of the drone!
Love your videos. I’m technologically challenged so this may be a stupid question. How do you get the drone to follow you throughout your rides?
It is tracking me visually and with GPS.
Stunning footage, well done. I've yet to hit Geronimo but hopefully will soon. National and Corona are a blast, and this looks nothing short of amazing.
My introduction to SOMO was flying in and my buddy took us on a night right up National and Down Geronimo... So sketchy... Welcome to SOMO!
Thanks Nate. Your production is nearly as good as your riding. Flawless!!
As MTB Yum Yum would say, that’s Mock Chicken! Nice work on the mixed drone and chesty edit Nate! 🤜🏼
That trail looks tasty! That's good stuff I wish I could go ride but no unnecessary travel right now. I'll just vicariously live through you...
Good call. The trails will be there.
@@natehills9388 Any chance we get some Quarantine Time MTB skills/tips videos Starring Nate Hills Videos?
Really loving that drone.
My backyard trail! You guys killed it!
I live in Phoenix and I didn't even know we had downhill without a killer climb of a dh track .
There is a small climb in the middle of this one.
That makes sense
U can still ride here to thank God
So good!!!! Trail looks incredible. Be well!
Xcellent! Always wondered how Geronimo compared to National...it’s a ripper! Thanks!!
Epic ride guys, what’s your suspension travel and tire pressures to handle that CHUNK?? Taking notes for when I can get back in the saddle 😍
Very nice use of drone footage mixed with followcam. Great editing!
Geronimooooooooo!!!
I don't know that the Skydio is as much of a game-changer as the gimbal but it adds so damn much. Peas and Carrots baby!
What bike computer are you using on your bars? Sick video!
I am running a Stages Dash.
Yeah Nate, in town! Haven’t done Geronimo yet, but now I’m going too very soon.
U r a lucky bastard lol 😆. Yet another Beautiful spot Nate 👍👍
Yep!
That was pretty chunky! How many times have you ridden that trail? Crushing it!
Love the combination of POV and drone footage. What drone are you using to get that type of "follow me" effect?
oh yeah FRIDAY i love it
You have a collection of very capable bikes, do you ever feel like you have too much bike? You live in the chunk or janky , how do you choose when the bikes are so close in geo? Drone is working for you btw.... cheers to more happy place footage.🤘🏻
what's your setup for the drone, do you just set it to follow mode the whole time and toss controller in bag?
Basically yes. It works with a phone app and the remote.
@@natehills9388once you set active track do you remove the joy sticks at all to prevent from steering while inside the bag, or once its set to active track it doesn't matter if the remote bounces around the bag a bit? I have the mavic air 2 and just been hesitant to take it out to do active tracking for that reason.
@@natehills9388 and thanks for your response, really appreciate it. really enjoy your videos!
Thanks Nate!
Nate the Great!!
Thanks for the vid!!
Great name for a DH trail!
That was an awesome video. You guys ripped it up. I just did that trail today with the short bus shuttle it was sick.
Is someone flying your drone or do you have it on a follow mode? I live on the base of south mountain and would like to try this. I have a Mavic pro but have never tried the follow mode.
Yo Nate why is yourFriday video private?
hello nate, this is again a super cool video, cut -music gorgeous. your front man rocks the trail👌🏻💪🏻🏻🔥 would still be cool to see a tracking video if you are the front man.🔥🎯 looking forward to your next video. stay healthy and let the wheels talk. cheers
Damn that's a badass mountain bike !
Love the drone views!
Is the skydio2 able to follow in front?
Watched today because of your Vital podcast. Such a good video. Who's flying the drone?
The drone is visually tracking is.
What coil are you running on your 2020 lunch ride. I didn't think you could run coils on the 130?
It’s a RS Super Deluxe Ultimate.
Quite nicely well done. Top notch, I dare say.
Sick trail. Drone footage was money on this one.
That’s so sick!!! Nate, you gonna be in Phoenix this upcoming winter to ride?
Perhaps.
@@natehills9388 if you do, bring Yeti’s new EBike and let’s go smash some shit! Would love to ride with you man.
Thx Nate!
amazing ride as usual :)
I just tried to ride this today and it was blocked off with no trespassing signs unfortunately
Yeah, I keep hearing this. Haven't ridden there in years. I wonder what is going on....
Nate, is this a public trail? Did you shuttle or climb up a fire road
We did this as an out and back but it is usually shuttled from the paved road.
the cactus trail yeaaaahhh!!!!!!
nice meeting you in the parking lot b4. hope i didnt interupt breakfast!
Nate, what rear shock do you prefer on your sb130? Coil or air?
I have been liking the coil for all of the chunk in Arizona. Feels great.
Thank you.
And not 1 hiker. How's that possible in the Spring?
We started early in the morning and did this as an out and back.
Looks like a rad trail
Sick!
Nate so sick SoMo are my home trails and Geronimo is one of my fav. Love the drone shots made the trail look even more impressive. Hope you got to hit up Holbert. That's my favorite trail on the mountain. Eliminator is also fun but short. Alta is also cool. Keep posting up great rides.
I have ridden Holbert before and would agree that it is amazing. I need to check out Eliminator and Alta. Thanks for the beta!
@@natehills9388 Anytime and stay safe and healthy.
Ciao Nate, un saluto da Milano, Italy 🇮🇹
To my surprise and great disappointment, I discovered the lower portion of this trail to dobbins road boy scout camp is now closed. Huge mess of rock and shale strewn across a good 100 yards of the track at the midway point (see vid here from 4:50 to 5:00) and signs identifying lower Geronimo is "private property". Lower section appears to still be managed by Boy Scout Heard Trading Post from what I can see. Trailforks has part of the story but not enough to explain what is becoming of the boy scouts when they decide shut down a classic trail in the City's greatest mountain park.
Interesting. Haven't been out there for a few years. Bummer to hear.
C = is for CACTUS 🌵 🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵
Was this in 3D 😁😁😁 🤟
Really thought the drone might collide with a saguaro there.
Couple of close calls in there. Obstacle avoidance is doing its job well.
😉👍🤘😍
I also bark at drones.
Who in there wrong mind thumbs this down? Someone in self isolation i guess.. 🤪
Привет с любовью из России!!!!!
Holy hell i have "eyes bigger than stomach" syndrome with this shit...
I am "prospecting" for trails, &, as a result of watching this video, this trail just became a prospect...
Problem is, i am, clearly, wanting to bite off more than i can chew as i haven't been doing this for very long, but i have determined that everything about this trail is where my interests lie, & some.
I'm not too much into the "dirt sidewalk" trails.
If i wanted to ride on dirt sidewalks, i would ride the canals, & would have bought a bike "sans suspension" that cost half of what i paid for the bike i bought...
I paid for travel, i want to use it, all of it, all the time...
Anyway, awesome video, awesome trail, definitely "on the list", maybe not right away, but soon enough...
I rode Gernimo, too, and I have to disagree. I still think National is the best, Geronimo is cool but it just beats the shit out of you and your bike and you can keep up more speed and momentum on National.
Btw I think I saw drama and Pete there at the beginning
hello Uzbekistan
Im uzbekistan nemis Moxirbek
There's actually even better hidden trails on that mountain. But G is one of the easiest funnest runs to get to. 10 years ago I used to bomb that on a 44lb SC VP free. And u got the last two switch backs wrong. U gotta blast into them moto style with all rear brake to get the ass end to whip around and the quickest path on the last is to cut the inside face of the rock and slide down sideways. Try and get a C2C while ur there. 30+ mile coast to coast. Maybe even a waterfall attempt or two on national. Left line if ur bombing down is the easiest straightest path.
fuck! gnarly
It seems you did not see (or chose to ignore) the signs saying South Mountain is a "No Drone Zone". You may want to remove drone footage. Parks officials are watching these videos and this gives MTBrs a bad rep.
Where is your Fortnite vids 😩
I didn't see one Native American?🤔
♥️♥️♥️ love riding those trails during the spring. Damn Corona virus has shot my Sedona, flagstaff, and phoenix plans all to hell 😩 Guess I'll have to wait for 2021' or whenever the Chinese give us the cure.....
