- The pigeon was already vaccinated for paramixovirus when it got sick. After that, it got a second vaccine but it didn't help, obviously. After about 1,5 months, it recovered on its own.
We had a HUGE PMV1 outbreak in the U.S. back in the 90s and my late partner and I's birds got it after buying some birds and not quarantining properly as we were oblivious to it. We saved many, many birds that were symptomatic by syringe feeding them each day. The disease itself is not fatal, but the dehydration that results from their lack of motor control often is.

One of my birds have the same virus. Are they any good anymore? Can you add them back to the coop?
I don't think they are "good" for racing but I don't cull birds. She will fly. I put such birds back in the coop in the previous years and they were fine, and raced up to 500 Km, when got lost.
@@PigeonmaniacomI was told they can spread the virus in the coop and that they aren’t any good anymore. But I love everyone of my babies so I can’t never let them go.
I wouldn't race them but they are good breeders they give their chicks natural immunity to the virus supposedly. It takes 6 weeks before they stop being contagious and can be added back to the loft.

Which medicine you use to this time of virus
The virus just has to run it's course, it takes about 6 - 8 weeks. Unless they have something else wrong with them at the same time, eg. Worms, you would treat them for that.

Hi Guillermo. It's the paramixo virus. I vaccinate all the pigeons but this one still got sick. She's fine now. Most fanciers would cull such birds because their racing ability is probably gone and you also need a lot of patience, it takes 1-2 months for them to heal, and not all of them heal. Some of them can't even eat by themselves.

You may need to tube feed If they cannot eat by themselves, It's a long game of patients and you just need to give them time and lots of care until the start to get better and can look after themselves once again.
