First Attack, was it a woman born this summer? This year the pigeons are not trying to fly high. I can imagine how difficult it is to film a bird distant in the sky.
Yes, the first was young but I don't know if male or female, looked small, so maybe a male. It got that pigeon from a mistake. I let the camera down and started to clap hands and the hawk abandoned the chase. While it was leaving, the pigeon returned and dropped in a tree behind the loft. The hawk instantly got back and got it. It had health problems months ago. The pigeons still fly very high when there are hawk attacks at home and the falcon appears under them. But they go very far away and my zoom won't work. This year there are also mature hawks (I saw the grey belly and dark back) and I had attacks of two of them in the same time but they ruined each other's strategy. 😂 When I was calling the pigeons in, a hawk was coming to the loft from the front. The pigeons that didn't get to enter the loft escaped from under the hawk and went away in the town while the second hawk appeared at the loft trying to ambush but it was surprised no pigeons were there. You can see both hawks "fighting" a bit in the video but nothing serios. I love when the falcon comes to kick their a**. They immediately drop in the forest to hide.😆

Too many, not very good. One problem is that your flock is too big.Make sure.you don t loose beautiful old birds.

How many birds would you lose each year to predators?
I would say I lose about 10-30 pigeons in winter (99% of the domestic pigeons here are locked in winter). I rarely lose 2-3 in summer, usually youngsters when they fly ranging far away for a long time.

The thing that amaze me is how ur birds keep tight formation during flight.... I have small no. Of birds but they fly so scattered and i hate it
It takes a lot of training, fitness and a reason that keeps them so tight. If I remember correctly you don't have birds of prey around. Genetics also play a role, they must be good racers lines. As you can see I still have a few that can't keep up with the flock in important moments, the hawks will remove them from the team...
@@Pigeonmaniacom yes no birds of prey in my area but the racing route is one of the toughest with high mountains and bird of prey... Not to mention hunters....
Also one of my friends who is training his bird did a toss 2 days ago someone sent him pics of birds one with a complete left wing separated from the body and was still alive i was so devastated watching that video.... 2nd one crossed the country border and traveled almost 800 km and ended up in another country no one knows what happened that let him go so far

Prea multi ulii anul asta...eu stau in pucheni nu departe de unde stai tu dar tot anul a atacat...ca niciodată....sau inmultit ...nu stiu care a fost treaba
Da, este cea mai grea iarna de pana acum din punct de vedere zbor. Ultima data cand mi-a luat unul luna asta, in cateva secunde a dat alt uliu in primul uliu sa ii ia prada, de au sarit fulgi din ei. Asta in timp ce sus stolul era urmarit de al 3-lea uliu si daca nu ma insel mai plutea unul peste padure. Soimii vin bonus pe sus.
@@Pigeonmaniacom Da...e greu...sunt din ce în ce mai mulți....acum iarna nu mai zic...eu îi am închiși de 2 luni dar mie tare frica în martie ce o mai fi. Părerea mea ca lotul asta al tău de iarna nu zic ca e rău să le dai drumul...ca îți faci tu plăcerea ta...dar eu zic ca mai mult îi ademenești acolo în zona...plus ca le mai oferi și "hrana"toata iarna .
Am mai auzit teoria asta, dar concret stii ce s-a intamplat? (ca fac asta din 2016) Cand elibereaza toti porumbeii in martie, la mine se termina cu atacurile, si scot linistit 100 de pui. La mine zero atacuri, la toti colegii din jur... atacuri. Nu am inteles exact de ce, probabil pentru ca ii tin minte pe cei ramasi pe final, spre primavara, care sunt foarte greu de prins. Ca nu cred eu ca ii duce capul asa departe pe ulii sa ii "pastreze" pentru iarna. :)) Iar ca hrana, nu le-am oferit inca in nicio iarna mai mult de aproximativ 30, asta la toti ulii si soimii. In cel mai bun an parca au luat doar 10 dar aveam stolul cel mai mic.
