Danni & Joe
When you've been married awhile, and your partner goes away for even just a few days, it's amazing the effect it has. You don't really realize how much the ambience of their presence fills the space of your home until they're not there. It's different than if they're just gone for an hour and coming back. When you know they aren't coming back for awhile, there's an empty silence that you can actually feel. Glad to see you're keeping busy and getting some things done. That certainly helps. You'll have to do something special for her when she comes back. Maybe a special dinner, and some flowers or something. You did a nice job of filming and editing this episode!
Yes 100% agree with this! Can’t wait to see her this week. Thank you!
Er… Joe did you notice you’d left the pressure cap off the heat exchanger after you put the deck board down…?
I've tried mentioning they need it replaced....
Yeah we were having issues with airlocks, since removing the cap it’s helped (should probably find something to loosely cover it for now)
Not sure about the moustache Joe 😂. You're never alone on the canal, and subscribers in the local area will always be there and look out for you
Yeah it’s a lovely feeling - met some great people
Hey Joe, I love your music choices...thanks loads.
Good break for ya mate. More pub time 😂😂
Get a 6 pack on me Joe. Keep up the savage vlogs man. Best wishes to you both.
Regards,
Keith
Oh my goodness thank you very much Keith!
The first part had some beautiful shots. Good to see Lady Pennybun on the move.
Thank you!
Joe you are such a nice guy, you both should be so proud of what you have achieved. ❤Loved the overhead shots with the railway and canal working in tandem. 👍👍 Wet n forget is magic, just make sure it gets to dry after spraying on, Milton fluid is great on the inside of the cover too👍👍
Thank you appreciate it!
Hi Danni and Joe.
(Seems rude not saying Danni just because she’s away)
Lovely to see you the other day, really appreciated the shout out and so welcome for the IPA!!🍺 very independent but if you need ship mates, give us a shout.safe travels, take care. Joe and Georgie 🌹⚓️
Thanks guys really appreciate it!
Jo, put the copper pipe you removed back in place but add a T piece and run the verticle section up above the deck then either bend the top of the tube over or use fittings to make up a U section so the end is facing down to stop the rain getting in
Good shout!
@@DanniandJoe Does the filler cap not have a breather built in?
Can you just add a copper T piece in the top crossover pipe you added. Have the T piece facing upward with maybe a gauze on it or a one way valve.
That should work so long as the top of the tee is above the top of the filler point. Not sure if it's the same on boats, but on diesel powered plant, the breather is usually in the filler cap. Can you show the filler cap sometime Joe?
Yeah thinking of a tee off of that, but it would need to come up about 1ft out of the deck somewhere to match the filler height!
I’ll check the filler itself again but I couldn’t see anything obvious there
Hi nice to watch you tonight, you seem to keep yourself busy Joe , seems funny without danni . Coming and going. See you soon Bob
Well done Joe! Cruising + locking + drone flying + filming = very impressive. Oh, and great backing music too.
I've just started my new life on the canals. On my own after a difficult few years. And I both expected and terrified. Your channels really helping me learn things. I brought a 54 ft fixer upper. I am currently moored up to complete all the work before going out and about. I want sure ide manage on my own but now I think what have I got to lose. So thankyou for making things seem a bit less daunting for me.
Freedom Joe enjoy it. Is Danni enjoying the new job?
Yeah she loves it over there! We’re trying to think of ways I could keep up UA-cam and join her for a while!
honestly the amount of effort filming, cruising, droning and DIY solo is impressive. hats off to you 👏🏻❤
sending love to you both!
Thanks guys!! ❤️❤️❤️
Pleased you are keeping up the content even though Danni is away for a while. It gives me somewhere to get my narrowboat fix.
Over the last year I have subscribed to half a dozen or so narrowboat channels, but one by one I have dropped them all because of the annoying click-bait titles they use
You and Danni come across as normal down to earth people who keep it real.
Keep up the good work.
Thank you really appreciate it!
You want magnesium anodes on a narrowboat - unless you're going anywhere near brackish or salt water (ie. crossing the Wash, which I'd love to see!). Magnesium will give the best protection, but will dissolve rapidly in saltwater, so switch to aluminium in that case.
Ahh yes cheers!
Awesome video Joe. Drone footage, filming and locks. Well done. Sure you miss your misses 😊😊. Love to you both xx
Thank you guys ❤️
put a t on the top pipe to make a breather pipe then run that up above the deck
Yeah thinking of a tee off of that, but it would need to come up about 1ft out of the deck somewhere to match the filler height!
Reinstall the top crossover pipe, get a self tapping pipe saddle from the plumbing store for that pipe and run a breather off of that saddle.Try and run the breather close to the fill opening so you can to tell if it is full and not running into your bilge. EXTRA: sunken boat at water refill was James first boat DOPE Narrowboat that James built
Yeah thinking of a tee off of that, but it would need to come up about 1ft out of the deck somewhere to match the filler height!
Ah no way who’s boat is it now?
Seriously use the best anode to protect the boat , don't worry about the cannals and water quality in them , the cannals have that much poisons and sewerage running into them every day its not funny , yep sewerage systems overflow and leak into the cannals 😮
Awww you are seeming lost hope you ok and of course Danni to all the best to you both tc the oldies 🤗👍
Thank you!
Can you give me the readly code please? Finally found the website, I wanted to do it ages ago? But it wouldn't find the site even though I copy ans pasted it. 😊
Glad your getting on OK by Yourself. Have a great week and let hope the sun will shine 😊
Thank you!
Anodes: I thought it was Magnesium for fresh water, Aluiminium for salt water.
Hi there, with you liking a nice coffee, I thought you would like a bear of the week, it's called Brew dog Ratle n Rum, I think you will love it. It's a stout and I think it's about 6:2. Beer of the week.
I’ll keep an eye out for it!
You can get a mountable vent end that whistles when full from a marine supple house. I have 2 on my boats.
Oh that’s cool!
Hope you are getting your royalties from the ecoflow advert :)
The way ducks charge around like they own the place is well out of order.
That soup and cheese on toast looked tasty :)
So relaxing watching you sailing through my old home town, Hemel Hempstead. Never heard Berkhamsted called a port!
Lovely area!
Haha. We live in a Bedfordshire and when the M25 or M1 is snarled up we sometimes go via Hemel to avoid the traffic. This means the going via the magic roundabout which is always an experience and I'm especially glad the Mrs is our usual driver!
Love the bluesy music, great vlog, thanx
Thank you!
Zinc anodes - believe it or not, there is similar information coming from the current drydocking of the now a museum US battleship USS New Jersey. The Curator was telling how zing anodes work best in salt water & where the ship has its museum berth is in fresh/brackish water where a different metal works better for anodes, indeed those aluminum anodes.
Yeah I was reading info on sailing boats and not Narrowboats!
Just remember, Trainspotters (and planespotters) are people too. 🚂😁 Even so, I took the sound systems out of my model trains, they got on my nerves. Mentioning Heathrow, earlier today had a YT channel playing which was watching jets land at Heathrow in the winds of current storm, and yes, I turned the sound down. 🛬😁 Hmm ... wonder how much effect family relations have on what a person is interested in? Dad and Grandad were each in the Navy and were each pilots for a season or two of their lives & I still am interested in boat and airplanes. Dunno how the railway interest got in there. 🤔 🎶 Oh, I like that music around the 6 minute point and for a bit after.
Yeah I genuinely got really into planes as a way to combat my fear of flying.
Walk back down to Rising Sun, good beer, good gin and good atmosphere. Why cook soup when Greggs next to waterpoint ???
Yeah that looked the best pub on that stretch!
Our friends Duncan and Sophie had a very bad run in with Greggs sausage rolls
Noticed you had a cap missing when you started your engine. Question, how do you film with your drone when you're doing locks and cruising, can you lock it onto you?
Yeah we were having issues with airlocks, since removing the cap it’s helped (should probably find something to loosely cover it for now)
So it hovers by itself, which is great for the lock shots but when cruising I’m steering the boat and the drone
When the wife is away, men do eat weird combinations
Just a thought re fuel tank vent - mine ( and others I’ve seen..) is in one of the mooring bollards. Something you perhaps wouldn’t have noticed..?
Yeah there’s a strange nut on our rails but it doesn’t seem to lead anywhere
Great Solo Vlog Joe. Exceptional filming on your own, taking advantage of your drone in 'hover mode 'will be exciting when you change the engine. Take care 🙂
Thank you!
Fair play Joe, great episode- love the beer reviews, me and my parter John love ales, but are vegan. Any chance you could review any vegan beers if you get the chance 😉
Thank you - I’ll see what I can do!
Hi Joe, nice vlog, what great music again! U r so good at choosing ! Not nice being apart from Danni, but time will fly! U will be fine.👍🙏.
Thank you!
Trrrrraainnns!😀
😂😂
Great drone shots at the beginning Joe, I'm amazed how stable the shots are even when it's breezy. Definitely magnesium anodes for your boat, zinc anodes are used for saltwater sailing.
Yeah I didn’t realise I was reading advice for sailing boats not Narrowboats 😂😂 the drone’s great!
Toasted soup?
Far out!
I think you'd've fit right in to the sixties, man.
Well, I'd've bought you a pint, anyway.
BTW, you and Danni's, is my fave narrowboat channel to look forward to.
😂😂 cheers! Appreciate it!
Berko is lovely..
Yeah one of my favourite towns so far!
Smashing it Joe x
Have a word with the boat that James built,he's in that area with swearey Dan who a welder.
James last video they made a pop up swing bed :) good luck.
Btw James had problems welding with his box welder,Dan's got the proper kit
Yes met him on Wednesday!
Wet and forget is the real deal use it on our boat Tranquility cratch cover you just need to be patient it gets rid of the algae but may take a week clever stuff we also use it on our drive and paths at home... brilliant stuff 👍👌🤛
Yeah really impressed with it!
19:08 - That's good for the future, but you still need a cap on there now. Even a sheet of aluminum kitchen foil would be better than leaving it open.
Yeah I’ll pop something over it!
Hi it is very quiet on there joe but make he most of it will be good to get the a team back Ha Ha miss you Danny love you both pops PS put something over oil filler cap to stop anything going in
❤️❤️❤️
We are in marsworth just past the Aylesbury arm can always stop and have a few beers
😊
Thank you! Should be heading that way!
@@DanniandJoe moved on at grove lock lol
Joe man enjoy the quietness it will give time to reflect on shit and just chill. 😮😊 Time to get stuff done without stepping over it. 😮 Just chill etc.😊
😂😂 cheers!
They direction you going in your bump in to James, from the narrow boat that james built. Him and his merry band of occasional bachelors😂 he's fond of a beer or three.
Yes I passed him on Wednesday!
I can imagine you both are missing each other like crazy and you’re counting down the hours to see each other. Definitely check in with Amy and Wes from @boattime as they’ve proved blacking the base plate is actually really important, even though it is back breaking to do it. Sending as much positive energy your way, to help you battle through the blacking and welding the anodes missions. You’ve got this! Hope you’re doing good Danni and you’re really enjoying your new job placement? sending huge hugs to you both 🤗🤗
Thank you very much! & yes always messaging Amy & Wes!
Aww the time will soon go joe darling. Give Danni my love and thank you for doing the sour dough recipe! I can’t wait lol Lisa xx ❤
Thank you!
Cool to see my hometown of Berko. Great vlog and love the arial shots. You could put the drone up so you can see the ruins of Berkhamsted Castle, built by the Normans.
I wanted to visit the castle ruins but forgot & ran out of time - I’ll definitely take Danni back though
Enjoying your videos. let us know how you are getting on with Starlink, and what is the coverage and signal strength like.
Thank you & will do!
Great vlog Joel Regarding ur breather pipe why not attach a tee junction pipe into the pipe u removed , therefore the diesel will transfer as usual and tee junction should make it breathe.
thinking of a tee off of that, but it would need to come up about 1ft out of the deck somewhere to match the filler height!
Zinc for salt water, aluminum for fresh water, magnesium for brackish mixed water
Yeah I was reading a sailing boat page not inland waterways!! 😂
Hi Joe,
Use Magnesium anodes for fresh water .
Aluminium and Zinc work better in salt water.
As for fitting them we welded some all thread to the Hull and drilled holes in the anodes backing plate and then just used a nut and a locking nut to have it up against the hull
Ahh yes cheers!
Ahhhh you can see your missing Danni won't be long before she is back.
You've got this . Enjoy that beer 🍺
Thank you!
two lead acid batteries in series with a welding stick in jumper cables can weld for 7 minutes, then charge batteries rinse and repeat........S
Ah wow - that’s proper 😂😂
Keep smiling, great vlog, thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences. It's amazing what interesting information you can pick up, the fuel tank was a gem, video walk through looking for breather and what you can do short term. Thanks
Thank you!
Hi Danni and Joe,love the bluesy tunes.great vlog as always.we missing Danni too buddy, stay safe🍺
Thank you!
Is your cup called chip 😂😂
Watch out ahead James is looking for help with his rook panels and he is somewhere ahead of you.
Yes I met him on Wednesday!
MOustach got to get rid of that mate
Hi just Joe,, 😢,, hope your OK without danni. I'm still watching.
Thank you - seeing her this week can’t wait!
Dont pressure wash the cover , it will ruin it , light scrubbing with a hand brush would be better.
Ah okay cheers!
Hi, I'm currently watching your latest upload and noticed that you don't have a radiator cap on your engine! In the video, you showed us where you cleaned up the bilge, and it definitely looked like your cap was missing. Regarding your fuel breather issues, why don't you just put a tee piece with an elbow to stop any water ingress in the pipe that you removed in between the fuel tanks.
Yeah we were having issues with airlocks, since removing the cap it’s helped (should probably find something to loosely cover it for now) & thinking of a tee off of that, but it would need to come up about 1ft out of the deck somewhere to match the filler height!
@DanniandJoe hopefully the engine will ast until your new one arrives. You must be using more fuel with the radiator cap off because the engine will struggle to get up to temperature without it on.
Couldn't you just add a breather pipe to the existing fuel cap that would save you messing around with pipework then? Something like a tee piece on top of the tank with a breather line and then the cap off the other part of the tee.
Who sings the song that starts at 1:40?
Hi Joe. I follow a vlog about the U.S. battleship, New Jersey. She has just gone into dry dock and they are replacing her zinc anodes with aluminium anodes. Apparently the aluminium is used now if the ship/ boat is in fresh water, which the New Jersey is, when at it’s it’s permanent mooring.
Awesome! Is that on UA-cam? I might give it a watch too
@@DanniandJoe It is, just search for Battleship New Jersey.
You’re in James’s home port. Stop an d give him a hand on Project 58.
Yes met him on Wednesday!
zink is good for a\salt watw\er and aluminum is better for fresh water.
Ahh okay! Cheers!
Another mint vlog Joe. Music choice is sick 🤙🏻 … fair play man 😃
Thank you really appreciate it!
A bit of talcum powder on that fan belt will quieten it until you can tighten or replace it.
Cheers!
Loving your vlogs, have been binge watching to catch up😊
Thank you!
how much did you pay for that canopy at the front? Recommand anyone?
It was just under £1000 I think, Mastawerks in Saltford were great but they don’t travel too far from the K&A
Great video as always it’s not nice on your own. Just keep busy
Thank you!
Looking forward to the sourdough recipe! I got into sourdough during the first lockdown. been ages since I did one though.
If you're still around Berko, go to The Rising Sun pub. It's right on a lock and a great little pub.
I'm moored up in Leighton Buzzard, heading your way. Boat's called Joshua, two massive solar panels and a cargo bike on the roof. If you pass by and I'm in, feel free to pop in for a cuppa/beer. I might be able to help you with that welding.
Joe, this one had serious lost puppy vibes. Even the music seemed subdued with the Mississippi Delta Blues. I like the moustache, very dapper. Are any of Danni's seeds sprouting? Danni we miss you.
Yeah got some sprouting happening! & definitely missing Danni!
@@DanniandJoe 👍
Doing well. Keeping very busy too. Ideal. Best wishes. Great vlog by the way.
Thanks Trevor!!
That was some seriously good photography at the beginning, with the geostationary drone over the canal and the WCML. You went to great lengths to get some really intriguing angles. You could print off some stills, make them into posters and sell them as merch? I actually preferred the greater balance between cruising and chat on this video.
That’s one of my favourite ales. Great solo video.
Thank you! Yeah it’s a great beer!
You Jammy Bugger lol thats the swingbridge I warned you about where the local car owners have very little patience. Winkwell lane has been closed for road works so you got a free ride through there mate ...top man
Magnesium anodes for fresh water. Aluminum isn't active enough for less conductive fresh water.
Did you see project58 or sloepatrol on your travels?
Yes met James on Wednesday!
Was Danni in the lamb and flag in Oxford a few days ago. My partner was down and almost approached the lady but wasn’t sure.
Nope she’s very much on the Channel Islands! 😂
@@DanniandJoe lol good job she didn’t approach her 🤣
Love the train, boat drone shot 👌 Did I spot Star Link?
Yeah our friends bought it for us for looking after the dogs
Quick tip for the squeaking belt if you don’t have the proper belt spray, a little bit of treacle obviously on the v section. Cheers
I bought a can of the spray but everyone told me not to use it, maybe I’ll give it a try but it’s the bracket causing it to be out of perfect alignment to be honest - I need to fix it
@@DanniandJoe nothing is easy on a boat Joe, we owned a hotel boat Helen of the West (had her built) and operated it from the wharf in Devizes everything was new still had problems now and then. As you said there are some very friendly and helpful people on the cut. Cheers
Great vlog joe getting near to my area of the world. Hi Danni also.
Thank you!
Your breather may be in the fuel cap, perhaps leave the cap a little loose so air can get in....
Yeah there’s nothing obvious there but will look again
:)
Thank you!
The most dramatic thumbnail! 😮😮😮.... 😅😅😅😅
Lol click bait 😂😂
I use Wet and Forget all the time. It's not instant, but spray it on and a few days later, you will see the results. I sprayed my grannies headstones. They were black with mould and lichen it took a spray every 3 moths and now they are snow white. While I was spraying the cemetary, workers told me it doesn't work, a year latter they said 'Whats the name of that stuff you sprayed on the headstone" just goes to show if you follow the instructions to the letter it will work.
Lovely to see you're managing OK with the locks etc. Definitely easier with two.
Be great for you both to get away for a break. Must seem so quiet on the boat. The Boating community seems so supportive and friendly. Lovely to hear. X
It is sad without Danni. However glad to see that you are surviving Joe ! Though french soup on toast looked well rank🤢
Put a breather on the 22mm copper pipe.
Have a look at an Auto Air Vent (AAV). They are used in boilers and on heating systems.
They are to vent air without letting water out, so my not be suitable unless to adapt it to let air in.
Yeah think that the way to go! Cheers
@@DanniandJoe you could put in a 22mm tee with a 1/2inch rad blead plug on the tee bit upstand part. That should work.
@@DanniandJoe type in 22mm 1/2" 22mm tee. Toolstation sell them.
Joe I can see you are loosing it with out Danni ,Don't believe I've ever seen any one put a plate with bread to be cut on a cutting board then cut the bread on the plate . But hell we all have days when the little woman is gone Joe believe you me I have had my share and now with her dementia it is tuff to do the simplest things at the market. hang in there Joe Danni will be back mine will not. Stay safe .
