As a person who has the game yes it’s scared me a LOT especially those Leviathan encounters. I had the worst of it when i literally went for a treasure chest in Stellar Basin and the bloody camera panning around at the EXACT MOMENT I saw it’s SPINE just heading towards my boat made me panic so badly though I wished I had that moment recorded for everyone to laugh at

Wanna hear something embarrassing..... I was doing some fishing near the light house and I could hear it's roar, then saw it's spine behind the rock's and I tried to get away but crashed into an island 😭 then used that teleportation magic😅

@@krypto7653 well the nice thing is that whenever the leviathan spawns around the main parts of the map it’s not necessarily a lethal event as it does not target the player unless they try to leave the map aka go out of bounds

personally i found that i basically avoided almost every enemy just from the fact i rarely went out at night and always remembered to rest, the only enemies i really encountered was the scripted encounters that you have to do, just trust the villagers bro 💀

I played the game like a wimp, only staying out at night for tiny bits of time to get the fish I needed and do quest stuff
But yeah, turns out if you listen to the villagers, ya really don't run into many problems
I actually really like that, because that is a key ignored feature in all horror genres. Ignore the ones who know the most. So of course doing the opposite allow you to live.
Yea but aren't there a bunch of quests that require you to catch fishes that only comes out during night time
@@wufflemuffin9197 yea i had to do those, but some of them are optional side quests you don’t have to do them to complete the story, for example the one where you gotta give the lady in gale cliffs a rotten eel, i found that because i played it pretty safe at night (stay close to a dock) i didn’t run into much more than the red mist or the night angler, and i didn’t even get attacked by him till the end game, i had to practically force a leviathan encounter by going out of bounds 💀
I’m so glad I went into this game blind because it really hits different

i played the whole game and didn´t get the Leviathan. But I remember in the centre hole when a giant tentacle scared the hell outta me while contemplating how amazing it looked at night, I screamed and left as soon as I could
Bro, 100% this.
Most of the bosses didn’t bother me TOO much, but that giant tentacle shooting out of the water completely freaked me out, especially when I looked down into the water to see what it was.
After seeing the Leviathan, im definitely not finishing the game.
Honking my horn in a pattern and hearing it honked back by the Angler as the boat was terrifying

This leviathan is nothing more than a discount Godzilla for legal reasons.
Going into this game blind, & having a deep, deep fear of stuff like this; it wasn’t TOO bad, but god damn it’ll have you unnerved. Especially the boat.
Just the noise it makes as it starts heading towards you, & the darkness making your screen whisper, & odd things start showing up, it’s terrifying.
Best part is that you can blow your horn at it while it is at a distance, and it will answer with its own horn. That is how it got me thinking its another ship so i went to it to check it out. Needles to say, pants were soiled when i got close.

The Leviathan Event. That one takes the cake. I do not mean it's sudden jaw attack and escape that you see in this video. There is an event, where it's entire body will wreathe around the surface. It is Dredges biggest enemy event. That was true panic.
I'm thankful I haven't seen the Leviathan yet...
You’ll eventually run into it. It spawns randomly around the map every 45 minutes and you’ll hear it’s roar loudly if you’re too far away from it when it spawns and it’ll become very obvious when it spawns near you

That's why when I started playing this game I focused on two things - Number one is fishing for money and Number two is money for engines lol!

As someone whos currently playing the game for awhile...I actually never had a encounter with the leviathan but now that I know its out there kinda scares me to go forward
Dealing with Eldritch horrors is literally no different than dealing with wildlife and fisheries as a real commercial fisherman

SCP-3000 "Anantasesha" would be a fun little easter egg to add to the game. They could make it so that when it pops out of the water, the ship will slowly be drawn towards it and the player has to force it away manually.

I remember seeing this game as a Tumblr post in like 2015. I was even in a Discord of game designers who were planning to make it before they dumped the idea and switched to some farming game or other
Games like this make my Thalassophobia go through the roof. Reasons why I'll never playing Subnautica ever lol.

It’s not as bad as you’d think, honestly.
Then again, I’ve never gotten to the Leviathan, or even knew it existed. I totally couldn’t do that part. Before then, the main thing that got me was the giant squid thing that shoots its tentacles out of the water at you. But it doesn’t follow you.
There’s also a mode that lets you disable the monsters.
This is one of the most charming games I've ever played, I absolutely loved it

The fact that Dredge still hasn't collaborated with Godzilla is beyond me, Dave the Diver and Minecraft got it, come on...
The first three hours of this game were phenomenal, but once I realized the entire rest of the game is the exact same fishing minigame with basically no variation all so you can repeat the same fetch quests across the map I just couldn't bring myself to finish it, which is a damn shame. I love the atmosphere and tone
