What Happens to Worlds That Are Forgotten?
Переглядів 28 тис.2 місяці тому
Witness the power of nature, the fragility of civilization... and perhaps even catch a glimpse of what the future might hold for us all. There’s something haunting about worlds that have been abandoned. Yet, when I look at a forgotten place, I feel a certain allure that is hard to explain. There’s just something about exploring worlds that have been lost that ignites a natural human curiosity a...
The Cosmic Horror of the Deep Ocean
Переглядів 219 тис.2 місяці тому
I have Thalassophobia, but I have an obsession with the idea of colossal sea creatures lurking in the watery depths. The depths inspire a primal dread known as thalassophobia, An intense fear of deep water. This phobia is deeply connected to the broader concept of cosmic horror - for both the deep sea and deep space are alien realms cloaked in darkness and mystery, where the rules of our famili...
Games that are Locked Behind Knowledge
Переглядів 227 тис.4 місяці тому
Life feels a little emptier after knowing that the first playthrough of a Knowledge-Based Game is gone forever. Typically, games rely on skill-based challenges with strategic decision making in real time. Progress is tied to defeating enemies or overcoming physical obstacles. But there's another way to progress, that's less about new tools and more about new ideas. Instead of obtaining an item ...
Cruel Worlds in Games
Переглядів 106 тис.5 місяців тому
Let us temper this world's cruelty, just a little. What does it take for a world to feel truly hopeless? Beyond a brutal difficulty setting or relentless hordes of enemies, what creates that feeling of dread as you witness a world suffocating under its own despair? It's a twisted kind of attraction, but the grim spectacle of survival in a cruel world is both horrifying and beautiful. 00:00 You ...
The Disturbing Genius of Darkwood
Переглядів 79 тис.6 місяців тому
Darkwood is a top-down survival horror game set in a nightmarish, ever-changing forest. You scavenge for supplies by day, fortify your hideout by night, and desperately try to survive the monstrous creatures lurking in the darkness while uncovering the forest's unsettling secrets. This scary game stands among horror classics like Amnesia, Silent Hill, Outlast, Resident Evil and Dead Space. 00:0...

Dredge is Terrifying and Beautiful
23:18 damn, Stroids is catching strays
One game that not as well know but has great thallassaphobia vibes is an old Arcade game called Ocean Hunter
Shame they haven't added mods to subnautica on xbox
A hyper realistic version of this game would be epic.
Majora moon, voyager 19
Uhuh...but what about the mythos that describe our world as made up of the corpses of titans?
Please make a video on rainworld. I am starved of it.
I beat the entire game without "dying" once. And no guides.
i am, stupidly afraid, like paralizing phobia fear, of living collosal creatures, not like whales or elephants, but something that shouldn't exist, when I was little, I dreaded looking at the open sky, because I always thought that at some point, a big eye would appear, that would cover the whole sky, the same with the ocean when I couldn't see the bottom, I dread it so much
Imagine having beef with a planet
my very first Deep sea phobia was a barraki from bionicle. video just simply explains why. ua-cam.com/video/wNRkzEp36KI/v-deo.html
You should cover more of the monsters
Yeah, I'm not worried about any of this, because we ARE the cosmic horror. No, not in the way that Lorax-blowing tree-huggers describe, but in the simple fact that the most efficient and inevitable way for humanity to survive and expand is to disassemble and re-assemble entire planets, star systems, and even galaxies. That protomolecule from "The Expanse" is us. We always take things apart, see how they work, an re-assemble them into more functional forms to serve whatever purpose we were made for, like nano-machines, only ever creating greater forms of order. If anything like us were out there, we would see stars growing dark as they were occluded by impossible numbers of artificial objects, and they would move, from the sheer force of gravity tractors. The approach of any such civilization really would be heralded by EM distortions, not just on the radio, but throughout the spectrum. But there is silence, likely because there is nothing out there, yet.
"Any planet with a face is evil." Tell that to Danny The Planet, later form of Danny The Street. Currently (or last I checked) Danny The Brick.
Metroid!
Aren't almost every creature in Rain World biomechanical? Vultures have exhaust-like fart and harpoon throwing gun (with laser sight!) built into their head, dodo birds are running on metal legs, electric centipedes seems a bit too electric for purely biological creature...
If you want to search about these thing, you need play Persona 3 Reload. All the answer has already found in there.
Another day to worry about cosmic horror I cannot control
pretty good game but sunless sea is a better experience
Game Name?
Legends of runterra Sunny? I know your voice 😊
so basically unicorn
But less MeChAnIcAl
A game that started AMAZING then just went steadily downhill. Really front-loaded all of their great ideas and effort. Final Area/Ending was meh and I'm still pissed that there was a random timed quest with permanent failure and no indication it was happening. You can also accept the quest BEFORE you have the ability to complete it. Ruined my day.
Why is Greenpath such a common piece of background music
In all retrospective, I feel lost right now.
one last short before bed : the short ......
i have an example of a literal living planet. in the green lantern cartoon series that was shown on cartoon network in the 2010s there was a literal planet that had a mind of it’s own and became a green lantern
Planets with faces are always evil, and that is why I trust Mogo; he doesn't have a face, just a bigass Green Lantern symbol.
what game is this?
This is what Gemini home entertainment is
Don't look down, _someone is trying to eat us_
I upgraded everything half way through the game. Nothing can catch me. lol
“Bioluminescence: a language of light, spoken by denizens of deep” Your creativity is appreciated🫶
Wait, is that Snnuy????
New player should go to 1stSteller Basin Gale cliffs 2nd Twisted strand 3rd Devils spine 4th My order is 1st Gale cliffs 2nd steller basin 3rd twisted strand 4th devils spine
We call out to the beasts of the sea to come forth and join us This night is yours Because, one day we will all be with you in the black and deep One day we will all go into the water Go into the water Live there, die there Live there, die We reject our earthly fires Gone are days of land empires Lungs transform to take in water Cloaked in scales we swim and swim on We are alive and we'll metamorphasize And we'll sink as we devolve back to beasts Our home is down here and we've known this for years We must conquer from the sea, we build an army with water steeds We'll rise From our depths down below Release yourselves Drown with me We will conquer land with water Gone are days of land empires Lungs transform to take in water Cloaked in scales we swim and swim on We swim on We swim on
offtopic.. but you sound like death from puss in boots.
This is nothing what lurks into uncharted waters
The crab looks like the guardian from atlantis
Another good example is the undead planet atropus from D&D that is thought to be the head of a cosmic entity and this thing is a infinity pump of necromantic energy so ALL undead get put on undead steriods and the gods and their worship becomes weaker and weaker and this being is almost like unicron too
The most powerful Green Lantern in the Universe is a living planet...just to put out there not EVERYTHING is Ego, Hellstar, or Iris. Some of them ARE good beings trying to protect everyone...even if Mogo DOES sometimes suck at it. There was also the Rogue Planet in Star Wars, or the Stars themselves in the Star Child Trilogy.
Did you know that a Pulsar or a magnetar have a radio signal that sounds like a heartbeat LGM-1
so it's underwater limbo?
0:22 A living planet would in fact be a new species
I'm trying to enjoy the game, but it immediately feels like being punched in the face over and over again. Extremely grind-y if you want anything right off the bat and I don't see it getting better. Not to be mean to this game, but it seems like the story would take a single sit down to finish if I wasn't being constantly sht on lol
As we know it the earth itself is a living organism it doesn’t look like it but if you watch a sped up video of the earth through the year it shows earth breathing with the snow me Ting and appearing showing it is alive.
They really should have introduced the basin first...
And then it turns out there’s an colossal sentient creature 2000x bigger and it turns out the fake planet is the equivalent of an bacteria in comparison
If you wanna stick to planetary horror, have you ever heard of Gemini entertainment and 58 but if you really want talking planet there is a series called Solar balls that isn’t really horror, all 3 of these are on UA-cam
14:46 This gave me a little chortle. I didn’t write the first version of the article when it was first posted on the Dead Space Wiki, but I did expand on it many times over the years since my first playthrough of DS3. That little “Blood Mad Crusade” bit was one of my favorites.
