It helps that this also doubles as a sneak peak for the 6 Year Switch video because of some of the titles released like Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, Mario Strikers, Bayonetta 3, Mario Kart 8 BCP, FEW 3 Hopes, and Kirby Forgotten Land.
@@weegee9k656 he spoke on it in a Christmas special called RPG guy. Pretty sure he gave it a fair bit of praise for the artistic direction but idk if he brought up gameplay or not, although most of the appeal for persona is the art style and atmosphere anyways.
Oh boy, the first game on the shelf is 1-2 Switch? Scott is gonna be so excited for Everybody 1-2 Switch! Also, people obviously cared enough about Daemon X Machina because it's getting a sequel.
Scott is so interesting, never have i seen someone who i suspect has played so little if any hours in his games, yet have such detailed and critical opinions (which i love) that are believable. Keep it up Scott.
he's proof you dont need to sink tens of hours into a title to have a solid opinion. it helps for sure, but sometimes you've just seen enough. (provided you acknowledge the amount you have/n't played obviously)
Honestly I don't really think much of the hours he puts into the games, but I find it amusing that a guy talking about games for 3 hours straight is more interesting than half of what's on UA-cam. Scott sure has a special touch to his commentary that just makes anything (both games he played and those he did not) a treat to watch
Yeah, he's talked about Kirby Star Allies a fair few times and he hasn't even mentioned the Heroes in Another Dimension mode so idk if he knows it exists lol
@@2-Way_Intersection Eh, I don't necessarily agree with that, he sometime gives criticisms that are explicitly addressed by the game he is criticizing. His complaints on Live A Live are especially an instance that feel very weird. He played the two shortest "stories" in the game and complained about the stories in the game all being brief. Not to mention that the stories being shorter is the whole point behind having 8 different ones. And he criticized the game for not connecting the stories, despite the fact that the stories absolutely do connect as you play more of them.
@@NoonDragoon Yeah I also feel this way with his criticisms of Kirby Star Allies, he always says that the updates only added new characters when they actually added a brand new mode that's essentially an epilogue. He's literally never mentioned it, I assume because you have to beat Guest Star to unlock it? It's weird, he brings up Star Allies all the time haha and seemingly doesn't know about it's most popular mode that Kirby fans basically universally like. Love his videos but he should do more research when it comes to certain things, free updates and dlc specifically. He also called Kirby Fighters Deluxe and Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe just the subgames from Triple Deluxe ripped out of that game onto the eShop when that's objectively wrong, they're not super content rich games but there is new content. They're objectively not the same, he's played both of those games so idek how that error arised
people like this should be ashamed this is how they have grown up and give their parents no reason to be proud of them. Hello my sons a doctor, oh nice...my son just plays video games and jerks off to cartoon characters all day. We tried to get him a car so he could go out and make friends, God willing even a girlfriend, but he just wanted a steering wheel controller instead and some anime game with strippers. (yes that game exists on switch, I forget the name).
new horizon also came out during lockdown. It was popular because "wow finally I can socialize with people." honestly feel like that helped it's success.
@@cjeeldein what country, I never heard of country that did no quarantine, so it's probably a small country:) Also, one country doesn't define the sales of a game that is sold worldwide :)
@@invertebrado so Sweden for example. 10-11 million people. Instead of lockdown, Sweden had just recommendations for everything. Plus some rules for max amount of people at some places. And I think Norway had kind of no lockdown. I might be wrong... Yeah AC was really "THE lockdown game" :) I know so many people that bought it and played so much. It sold so crazy good at launch!
The lockdown did also have a huge demand in Nintendo switch consoles around the same time of the animal crossings release. Everyone got their covid money and wanted a switch (and animal crossing)
As someone with over 500 hours in arms, very fair an accurate assessment. I played competitively, but once the scene died down, there just wasn't single-player content, and for the casual content to be good, you needed a group of friends who also enjoyed the game to play online with.
I feel like Splatoon as a franchise could've easily crashed and burned like Arms did because it had similar issues as the original Wii U game at launch, being the lack of significant content (both single and multiplayer) and focus on online play. However, I think Splatoon had not only the single player campaign, but an extremely well fleshed out world that made lots of people become fans, me included. I love the world of Splatoon, and it only got expanded upon in 2 and 3. The game also got WAY better post-launch support than Arms ever did, having special limited-time events in the forms of splatfests, and many map + weapon additions. Arms did have a decent amount of things added, after launch along with new characters, but I just think it wasn't enough to bring people back in. Hell, Splatoon even had the disadvantage of starting on the Wii U instead of the Switch, and that alone could've easily sent the series into an early grave.
@@SPG8989 I mean it was 6 years ago. Just cause u were a child doesn't mean it wasn't competitive for the first year of release. Was an active scene, just not a long living one
That bit on Mario Odyssey was super relatable to me. I absolutely love it, it’s one of my favorite games of all time, but recently it’s been hard for me to go back and replay it. Not because I like the game less(even if I’m well aware of its faults and why people aren’t as keen on it as I am), but because it’s inherently not as replayable as the other 3D Marios are. I think the longer than usual wait for the next 3D Mario is also a contributing factor to my unwillingness to commit to a new playthrough. Like if an Odyssey 2 came out like 2 years ago, I probably wouldn’t be in this mindset. I’d just play the new game and then go back to the old ones when I feel like it. But that’s the thing, Odyssey’s been the new one for almost 6 years. We haven’t had to wait this long on a new one since the wait from 64 to Sunshine. I’m honestly still shocked we got a BOTW sequel BEFORE a SMO sequel.
This isn't an issue exclusive to Mario either, it's the case for a lot of modern video games these days that have an open world/sandbox format. The excitement and fun that comes from these kinds of games is finding all the collectibles and exploring every crevice of the world to uncover all it's secrets. Once you know where everything is and how everything functions, then it's just going to be less compelling to replay. That's the case for every game of course, but it especially hurts the replayability of games like odyssey, since that's practically most of the game's hook.
My problem with Mario Odyssey is that it is actually fairly linear in how you progress through it. Previous 3D Mario games you get a handful of choices in what worlds to explore to progress, but in Odyssey it's always pretty much the exact same order (minus like two points where you can select between two worlds). So it feels like I'm going through the motions when I replay it.
@NoonDragoon " Previous 3D Mario games you get an handful of choices of what worlds to explore to progress ". Me: Um. Except Sunshine. In fact, Sunshine does it worst in terms of it's linearity cause u have to do every single main courses and all 7 episodes to access the last level without just collecting the amount of Shine Sprites u only need and you also have to do all the activities in the Hub World to revolves around Shadow Mario like getting the rest of the Nozzles or Yoshi to access other levels. Which means doing the extra shines that u can do are completely useless. At least u don't have to do the main story plot in Odyssey and have to get every moon to progress to the next kingdom. U just need this amount of moon to go on the next kingdom and boom; there u go. There are some exception. But for most part, it's nowhere near as linear. But in Sunshine? Nah. U have to do most of the plot line missions and it's way more tedious.
One of my favorite sensations is seeing someone I look up to talk about something I’m passionate about. Despite how short it is, I’m glad Scott has played NEO TWEWY, easily one of my favorite games.
I think that's his "oh this looks cool" side coming out. I own Super Mario 30th Anniversary on the Wii, and I honestly don't even like the All Stars verisons of those games, I just wanted it cause "Oooh that's cool"
3:13:30 Scott, I can't tell you how unbelievably happy it makes me to hear you talk about Tokyo Mirage Sessions, even if just for a moment, and to call good no less. One of my favorite games of all time, you have absolutely made my day.
Dude, you are such a charismatic personality. I love watching everything you put out. Others have similar content, but so many fall short of your likability. Thanks for all you do.
I'm a huge Fire Emblem fan but his delivery of the line at 1:26:25 when he says "I wish Warriors had an obscure title, like Ape Escape." just incredible I never thought I would agree with you more Scott. aha
This is like a mega review of every game and I honestly watched the entire 3 hours because of how honest and concise. I love collecting physical copies too and I can only imagine having a collection as HUGE as this
2:43:01 "I do feel like Pokémon is hard to get into when you have not grown up with it." As someone who _has_ grown up with Pokémon, I slowly fell out of love with The Mainline Games At Least over the course of the 3DS era to present, and thus I advise you as follows: *_Play literally any other creature-tamer out there._* Even Digimon, even SMT/Persona, especially Fossil Fighters (but not Frontier), especially Yo-kai Watch (ESPECIALLY 3 if you're able to, though 1 will suffice in a pinch), but maybe not Robopon (at least not the first one). And if you _must_ play Pokémon, these days you're better off sticking with the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games.
I love playing Switch while naked in bed. I enjoy the fun of gaming plus I get to air out my fun beans! I haven't played Switch with clothes on since December of 2018. Anyway take care.
Really digging this so far (in hour 1). I had no idea on certain games that existed. I definitely will seek out the Atari 50th anniversary and Disney collection. Thanks Scott.
Happy to see you checked out LIVE A LIVE! It quickly became one of my favorite games with the remake that released last year! Regarding the amount of stuff the game has to offer in terms of exploration, you probably just so happened to pick the two chapters with the least to offer in that regard as Wild West and Present Day are each about an hour long at most- the other chapters are all each a couple of hours in of themselves, and there's a ton to explore especially in Prehistory, Twilight of Edo Japan, and Near Future. Also, regarding the overarching story, I can't say too much on that front without spoiling things, but I think you'll enjoy where it goes should you see it through to the end. I think it might be worth another look in the future- I know there's dozens of games coming out left and right, but even a year later this game still really sticks out in my mind, and definitely is one of the best games the Super Famicom has to offer!
I liked for the fact that Scott isn't an RPG guy, yet he's got like halve of the RPG games in his collection. At least we can agree that Dragon Quest is an cozy and fun adventure type of an RPG game.
The Switch is the only console I ever printed custom spines for, just couldn't stand the sea of red. There are many great spines that people have made and shared on specific subreddits dedicated to that. Very much recommended!
As a Souls fan I like hearing Scott's appreciation of the Dark Souls games. It's definitely not a game series for everybody and even then it's one of those games where you usually don't automatically "click" with it. But once it clicks, it really does.
@@zozzinator Yeah no. Elden Ring is not the easiest one to get into. Even as a long time Souls veteran. I've played Dark Souls 1 through 3, Demon's Souls, Bloodborne, and many other Soulslikes. Elden Ring is probably the hardest to get into mainly for how massive the game is and how hard certain areas get. For a new Souls player I'd much sooner recommend Dark Souls 1 or 3. Or even Bloodborne isn't too hard for a first timer as long as you learn when to play aggressively. And the main reason is that while these games are not necessarily linear, they're much more straightforward in where you should go at what time.
I fell asleep to another video about switch games and it auto played this video. I had strange nightmares and couldn’t fall back asleep. Why is this 3 and a half hours long. Why didn’t you let me sleep. Your voice haunted my dreams.
I’ve seen 1.5 hour videos that are more interesting in idea but I never felt like watching them. Oddly enough I’m almost 2 hours into this video. Nice to listen to/watch while working, only Scott can do this
Live A Live does have the issue of each story feeling like it's cool but doesn't get really far in what it tries to do, but by the final chapter you're efforts are all rewarded! I don't really wanna go into spoilers but it connects small parts of each story and gives a reason for all the stories to connect in a cool way!
I agree with you on sonic colors, It is a great game and introduces new stuff in the ultimate edition, but honestly it would've been better if we got a Sonic generations or unleashed remaster instead.
I'm a huge Fire Emblem fan but his delivery of the line at 1:26:25 when he says "I wish Warriors had an obscure title, like Ape Escape." just incredible I never thought I would agree with you more Scott. aha
lol, this is a great crash course/refresher for Scott’s Nintendo franchise opinions. I hope this becomes a thing, because i would love to hear his thoughts on games he hasnt ever mentioned. like weird Xbox/playstation games.
Bravely Default 2 is one of my favorite turn-based rpgs in recent years. The diorama sort of art style looks at least decent in a lot of places, and the big-headed models capture the art style of Akihiko Yoshida pretty nicely. The plot and customization options take a while to get going, but once you're done with the second area, you have a decent handful of job options to build a party that feels like you have agency over how battles will go while you're preparing for them. I've never played the previous BD games, but I might have to give them a shot sometime.
Like Scott, I played the demo and it also made me not want to play the full game. I thought the battle system was fun and the art was good, but the story just didn't grab me. To this day, I still wish I liked that demo.
The Bravely games are games that i really like but i just can't seem to finish them. Never finished Default, never finished Second and that's the reason i didn't even bother with Default 2, there's just something with the battle system that eventually gets really old and repetitive. Which is funny because i played a bunch of Dragon Quest games in a row after playing 11 for 120 hours and the series never got old and the combat in that series is arguably simpler than the Bravely games and often gets criticized for getting old and repetitive too fast.
actually so insane that this is fully edited, I love seeing these collections when people have big ones, especially as I eventually hope to have a huge collection, and Scott is so entertaining that even a 3 hour video is watchable.
I do recommend the xenoblade games. They never grabbed me at first as well but around halfway through in 1 and 2, and about 15% through in 3, they became amazing. It is now my favorite video game series.
Sorry, but Scott literally made an hour long video and a song about him not being an RPG guy, and literally the start is that they give him Xenoblade 2 for Christmas and then he has a panic attack. So I think that's off the list.
@@ricardodnda3826hat is a joke just cause of the stigma of it lol, he says it in the commentary vid, I do think scott would probably like 1,X and 3, especially X cause you can see a lot of stuff monolithsoft and nintendo used as templates to add in botw its really cool. Its just these games don’t start off with a bang it takes a few hours to get things going and scott has said he dislikes that.
@@ricardodnda3826 scott is not an rpg guy, but he played a lot of rpg and liked them, he sayed he might give a shot on the franchise in the future, so who knows, but yeah xenoblade is not for everyone, its my cup of tea but it might not be scott, or maybe he will like the games who knows!
@@ricardodnda3826 He literally said that he played Shin Megami Tensei 5 and 3 in this video and even said they were good. If he can play those he can play any RPG.
I think Skyward Sword HD is my favorite game of all time. I did not expect that going in, and it wasnt apparent from the get go, but man was it an acquired taste. The visuals, the story, the presentation, the combat, the music, the temples, the bosses, and the split joycon motion controls 🤤 Nothing else comes close.
It wouldn't be an exact rank, for that'd be way too hard and also I liked when Scott did what he'd like to see in the next smash bros or mario kart, and I'd love to see another his own opinions video again
I'm so happy to hear about Live A Live! From the stories you've played, they're def the shortest :) ! So I get why you would call them minigames. Each story is different to their own with their own gimmick. My personal favorite is The Near Future because the whole story was a jumble of fun! Distant future is also really great too, but they're isn't a lot of gameplay, which wasn't a bad thing, again, all the stories are unique in their own way! Everything does come together in the end, which is the sickest part of the game, but it does take some time bc you'll need to do every story. This is just my little thoughts! Just in case anyone else would like to play Live A Live! I'm not a big RPG fan, but this one stood out to me, and I had a blast! It's very RPG friendly, and I think it's a game everyone should try. :D (There is a demo too if anyone's curious.)
Scott's main channel: *Hardcore jokes and aggressive reviews of consoles and games* Scott's snippets: *adding scott's series videos together, showing cut content, and short snippets* Scott's Stash: *Chill talking about stuff that doesn't require too much effort and jokes*
You are the best Scott! You just made the last 3 hours of my shift much better lol. I’ll always turn Scott on my laptop on my toolbox and listen to him while I work lol
I thought Tropical Freeze was a fantastic game and certainly one of the best 2D platformers I've ever played, but I never seemed to understand the viewpoint that its one of the best games of all time. It's certainly an incredible game and worthy of high praise, but I don't think it's on this "revolutionary" level for lack of a better word.
The only thing crazier than Scott filming and editing 3.5 hours of himself talking about switch games in his collection is me watching Scott talk about switch games in his collection for 3.5 hours.
Every time Scott the Woz talks trash about Travis Strikes Again my life expectancy decreases by 5 years. I swear to god its good you just have to know more about Grasshopper Studios to appreciate it
Totally agree with you on Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze! One of the best games ever made and my favorite 2D platformer. I really love Paper Mario The Origami King too. I played through it six times including a 100% play through, a no damage run, a no item run, and a 102% play through. Yeah, I'm a big fan of PMTOK I don't know why I enjoy it as much as I do.

Well it’s cause we’re never getting Mario odyssey 2 😅😅😅☹️😔😞😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😪😪😪
I wonder what this next 3d mario will be
This isn't an issue exclusive to Mario either, it's the case for a lot of modern video games these days that have an open world/sandbox format.

"I do feel like Pokémon is hard to get into when you have not grown up with it."
As someone who _has_ grown up with Pokémon, I slowly fell out of love with The Mainline Games At Least over the course of the 3DS era to present, and thus I advise you as follows: *_Play literally any other creature-tamer out there._* Even Digimon, even SMT/Persona, especially Fossil Fighters (but not Frontier), especially Yo-kai Watch (ESPECIALLY 3 if you're able to, though 1 will suffice in a pinch), but maybe not Robopon (at least not the first one). And if you _must_ play Pokémon, these days you're better off sticking with the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games.

I dare say his side channel is where most of his content is these days
So this is what Scott would do if he had the opportunity to make a video the length of a Lord of The Rings film. It's perfect.

As a Souls fan I like hearing Scott's appreciation of the Dark Souls games. It's definitely not a game series for everybody and even then it's one of those games where you usually don't automatically "click" with it. But once it clicks, it really does.
I bet he hasn't clicked yet
Elden Ring, the supposedly easy one to get into, broke me
@@zozzinator Yeah no.

Love the video man, would love to see you make this into a series, with each console library you have,
Live A Live does have the issue of each story feeling like it's cool but doesn't get really far in what it tries to do, but by the final chapter you're efforts are all rewarded! I don't really wanna go into spoilers but it connects small parts of each story and gives a reason for all the stories to connect in a cool way!

This video is the one to surpass 1 million views on this channel. People really like hearing Scott talk about his Switch games.

Darn, I was hoping to hear Scott talk about Stardew Valley. I friggin love that game.

You are the best Scott! You just made the last 3 hours of my shift much better lol. I’ll always turn Scott on my laptop on my toolbox and listen to him while I work lol
DKC Tropical Freeze is also an all time favourite of mine. It made me re-evaluate and fall in love with 2D platformers all over again.
Why not ?
I thought Tropical Freeze was a fantastic game and certainly one of the best 2D platformers I've ever played, but I never seemed to understand the viewpoint that its one of the best games of all time. It's certainly an incredible game and worthy of high praise, but I don't think it's on this "revolutionary" level for lack of a better word.

Now where'd YOU come from ?! 🧐
Thanks for reviewing your collection Scott. This makes it so much easier to see what games I would like to buy and play.
Congrulation for the Million views, its one of your best videos in this channel.
I would love to see videos like this for the rest of Scott's video game collection
Same here!
See the 3 hours blew my mind 🤯🤯🤯, love these side videos Scott makes
i personally really love arms, and i believe an arms two will happen soon and it will fix the issues people have with the game at the moment

Props to scott for actually playing pretty much all these games, or desiring to play them instead of just hoarding them
Still looking forward for the Wii U collection.
It's good to know Scott likes Bayonetta.
I kind of want to see how Scott plays Splatoon.
Yeah, I'm a big fan of PMTOK I don't know why I enjoy it as much as I do.
would really love this if you did this with your entire collection tbh even if it took a while
50 minutes in and I finally notice Scott's chair. I truly thought he was going to crouch down next to his game collection for 3 1/2 hours
Me too
Now Scott needs to spend another 3 hours on his digital nintendo switch collection.
i love this kind of videos so much
This video made me realize he doesn't beat a lot of his games.
Life is short, but I still love watching Scott taking 3 hours taking about his Switch games.
Scott, Scott. Jesus Christ man. 3 hours of Switch, I want to watch this but by the time it’s done it’s gonna be 10:30 PM my time
Wow Scott, that's a whole lotta red you got there
