@jaredjams4267 yet the average person was still living better during that than they are now... Back when a person working full time could afford their own apartment... Good times...

That matt section actually made me cry. The sheer depth matts knowing eyes… he KNOWS that you two will Face off one day but he’s proud to go down by your hands
I like to imagine it where Matt is like Apollo Creed and the player is Rocky. Before the game, you and Matt had a boxing rivalry but squashed it to train together - and then the last match with Matt is like the end of Rocky III where they have a behind-closed-doors sparring match I just watched all the Rocky movies if you couldn't tell lmao
Anxiously awaiting the part 2 on Sports Resort. That game is beloved in my heart. Fruit archery, nose diving the volcano, the absolute unhinged fervor my cousin & I would work ourselves into in the bike races. Best game of all time I miss it so much
The Wii is so nostalgic for me. When I was a kid I saved up for MONTHS trying to buy a Wii for myself and then that year when Christmas came my grandpa surprised me with one for Christmas so then I had all that money I had saved up to buy games and extra controllers for my new Wii. Definitely one of the best Christmases ever.
I told mother about it anfd went in 50/50... now pretty much my whole family went out and bought one and there mostly older people LOL... bet ya Nintendo wasn'st happy about its security though... replace OS with windows Opera, boom copy dirrectly from wii to external Hdd..... play games off hdd... lol I only did it on my wii sports so mother could play it easier lol.... others had the entire bungle of games on it :-\
Many senior and nursing homes have wii bowling events to this day. I still remember going to a team building thing at work 10+ years ago - instead of a ropes course we did wii bowling.
i work at an assisted living facility, and some of our residents really love wii bowling!! my favorite resident, marge, calls it "w 2" bowling because she sees the ii in "wii" as roman numerals lol
my grandma is in a retirement community and they have wii bowling leagues with fun names. i don't think they even bother with any of the other sports lol even tho i feel like golf could be popular with that crowd too
Let's be honest, if the Wii Sports theme music doesn't play as the credits for the end of the world, it's not gonna be a perfect ending. I want it played at my funeral. Because no matter how hard life gets, this song will always be happy af
Shoutout Tony, his presenting has already improved and the content just keeps getting better and better with ever video! Eddy you’re cool too I GUESS 🙄
Matt being the last boss is like the climatic betrayal in anime where the main character has to face off in a final battle against his mentor that's been training him the entire series
As a kid I never had a Wii of my own. So whenever I was at a friend's place, I got my ass handed to me in every single game of Wii sports, but I never felt like I wasn't having fun. That's the beauty of this game for me, the fun comes from being with mates, regardless of winning or losing. - Great video as always
My wii console broke a few months into quarantine and I can safely say it was the saddest thing to happen in 2020. Haven't played a single wii game since. My life is worse now Update July 2022: MY BIRTHDAY WAS THIS MONTH AND I ASKED FOR A WII CONSOLE AND GOT IT A FEW DAYS AGO! Been having so much fun playing all our old games, including wii sports and sports resort ofc. It's a bit sad to not have all my friends and family's miis, or impressive records we set saved, but I'm stil glad to have it! I even had a friend come over yesterday just to play wii with me like we were kids again. My life is better now. If any of you want to come play some wii with me just let me know! My mom will drop you off if your mom picks you up
There used to be a man I knew from an assisted living home who played Wii bowling every day with a group and he was crazy good. He bowled a perfect game one day and posted a screenshot of his score on the wall. He was getting perfect games so consistently that he wrote the date of the games next to his perfect game post. Unfortunately he passed away but damn what great memories trying to beat him (I never did)
the miis were a critical part of my childhood. i remember coming home one day from elementary school and making my crush a mii just so i would be prepared if they ever came over.
I have a really deep and fond memory of wii sports resort, my little sister was level 2000 in the sword fighting, she was obsessed with it and I’ll always look back at that memory fondly
I remember my sisters and I saving up all of our money and our parents finally taking us to buy a Wii its been 12 years and we still use it, its such a great console 😭
I remember doing wii bowling competitions at my school during field. There was nothing more humiliating than talking a big game and then getting a 7 10 split on your first throw
12:17 As someone who recently spent a decent time getting to 2000 rating in baseball (and genuinely considers that an achievement), I think it is the best of the sports because of its difficulty. The need for restraint when batting (to draw walks and avoid groundouts) and for strategy when pitching (which mii hits which types of balls, when to risk a splitter) means it's still a challenge. I guess we have flipped opinions between baseball and boxing because I never found that fun.
I was not expecting to feel so much nostalgia but suddenly I began to miss the time I was 9 and was sharing one Wii system with my 6 other family members in one small ass apartment we all lived in and all of us somehow making it work.
ABSOLUTELY yes to the idea of covering wii resort in the future!! As someone who got a wii slightly later than many people I knew, Wii Sports Resort was much more formative in my experience of the console than the original, and it went....crazy hard. I literally remember enjoying pretty much every sport on the game, with a special praise for Basketball, Swordplay and Island Flyover. It was challenging, the core mechanics were soo solid and I found that it offered much more variety than Wii Sports. I spent the entire Christmas period of 2009/10 just totally immersed in that game; it's genuinely one of my happiest video game memories.
Wii Sports is legit one of my favorite games of all time. The gameplay is simple and tons of fun, the music slaps hard, and it just has so much personality. You guys totally nailed it with this vid, the jokes were hilarious and you captured the magic of Wii Sports. Also I'm glad I'm not the only one who found baseball annoying at higher levels. I think this might be your best video yet, great job!
Gamers: I fear no man, but that thing... Matt: Hello there Gamers: *It scares me* I know everyone talks about the Wii Sports title screen theme, but the whole soundtrack is a banger. The moment you hear a song from that soundtrack, you immediately know where it's from. The fact the Wii Sports soundtrack in general can be used to describe a generation says A LOT. The Wii may not be perfect, but boy did it change gaming
had no idea switch sports was dropping and now I'm super excited, wii sports and wii sports resort were mine and my friends favorite games to play when we were kids.
These deep dives into video games from my childhood has become one of my favorite things to watch; it feels like getting to sit down with my own brother to talk about the things we took very, very seriously as kids. Love this so much.
I loved that bowling mini game, especially once I found out you can knock down all 91 pins at the end by perfectly rolling your ball down the right bumper, if you make it all the way down it presses a button and all the pins fall.
I’m a bookworm, so I’ve never been the biggest video game guy. However, I absolutely adore Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. It was and still is a great way to unwind if I’m not reading or watching UA-cam.
Wii Sports has been an odd benchmark for aesthetics for me, like I've made a list on Letterboxd called Evil Wii Sports where the locations of the films are really nice and placid and peaceful but the plot is chaotic or terrifying i.e. Midsommar, and I'll watch something or listen to something, or see something and my mind will immediately go "I'm getting strong Wii Sports vibes from this"
The beginning of this video gave me goosebumps and took me back to a time when all I cared about was one thing. My sister and I were gifted a Nintendo Wii the Christmas after it initially dropped. To this day, I remember unwrapping all of my other gifts, and began crying while my sister opened one of her beloved wishlist gifts. Then, low and behold, a midsized rectangular shaped box appeared before me. INSTANTLY I KNEW WHAT IT WAS WITHOUT A FREAKIN DOUBT. My sister and I unwrapped with much glee.. and the tears turned into joy. I will NEVER forget 12/25/2006.
I remember waiting in line with a group of friends at a Walmart for about 6 hours to get a Wii on release. We were the last three in line. We watched the South Park episode of Cartman getting a Wii on someone's laptop while in line.
This video was so good, and I'm really excited for the wii sports resort video! I played that way more than the regular wii sports (bc my sister scratched the disk, the loser that she is), and I can't imagine how many hours I spent on just the island flyover game itself. Nothing more challenging than trying to fly into the volcano without wrecking the plane.
my dad and I have had a wii bowling rivalry since we got a wii when i was a kid. We still play from time to time to this day and it just doesn't get old
I ADORED wii sport and Wii sports resort! I would play alone for literal HOURS in our basement! My parents actually only bought the Wii for the Wii fit thing. But my cousins and sister still love to play games like Wii sports and Wii sports resorts, guitar hero, etc. We would love to play bowling, and would purposely throw balls backwards, just to see the characters jump and spin. We would also love to see which characters we could recognize in the backgrounds. I have so many fond memories of playing on the Wii. Loved this nostalgic video! 💚
I didn't even realize how crazy Wii-mania was until years later. My mom had got us one and said it took her dozens of trips to GameStops to even find one in stock so I looked into it.
This had great heart, but I feel the central thesis that "the Wii would be nothing without Wii Sports" went insufficiently substantiated. B-. See me after class.
This takes me back. We made a bunch of Miis of our favorite Olypmic athletes (we got our Wii during the 2008 Olypmics) and all of the Narnia characters.
As almost everyone else did while we were growing up, the wii was my life and if Nintendo switch sports is a true recreation then I feel like I might have no choice but to get one.

The music choice made it for me.
the mentor to opponent Matt arch really brought a tear to my eyes, very emotional and moving
When you realize that Wii Sports has a boss fight with a developed character that has an arc that includes the player's hero's journey.
